Oak Ridge Boys' lead singer was born in '48, tenor was born in '43, the bearded wonder born in '39, and the bass singer born in '43...so they are all in their 70s and 80s. Home Free singers are a good 30-40 years younger, but look how well they sing together!
I am so glad you reacted to this collaboration between Home Free & The Oakridge Boys. You can see the great respect these 2 groups have for each other. The Oakridge Boys are mentors to Home Free & it is like they are passing the baton to a newer version of themselves. They have performed together on the Grand Ole Opry. Adam Rupp's vocal percussion is the best in the business. He can simulate drums & any other sounds perfectly. They are so talented yet very humble guys.
That band where they from they have roads in towns named after them and I'll leave it at that (which means several were born on way to beaches on coast so you pass through)
Nothing like seeing The Oakridge Boys live , they put on a free 4th of July concert in the little town of Cornelia , Georgia in 2004 . I’ll never forget it
Ok AB, ready for a fun fact on a member of the Oakridge Boys? Duane Allen, lead vocalist of the group is from a dot on the map in Taylor Town, TX approximately 30 minutes from Paris, TX where I live. Born April 29, 1943, about 3 months after my mama and 6-1/2 months after daddy, they went to school together at Paris Junior College in Paris, TX. Pretty cool and the Home Free/Oakridge Boys reaction was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!!!
The Oaks are legendary. They were HUGE for decades. And they appeared on Home Free's streamed concert joining HF on Beautiful Star of Bethlehem. The affection and respect is obvious on that stage.
Ya dang straight The Oak Ridge Boys still got it! They’re like the country version of The Rolling Stones cause they’re still touring!! Elvira was probably one of their biggest hits and you should check out the OG version, but I think you’d like American Made as an intro to having The Oakridge Boys on the channel, it was a pretty big hit too. My personal favorite is The Y’all Come Back Saloon…. your secretary mighta even inspired whoever wrote that one! 😂
I've listened to this song hundreds of times but never thought about how old the Oak Ridge Boys are until today. so I googled it. They range in age from 73 (Joe Bonsall) to 83 (William Lee Golden-the one with the long white beard). Joe Bonsall has so much energy that Austin once said he wants to be Joe when he grows up. lol
The Oak Ridge boys are amazing! Not many people can get up there like Joe Bonsall, and even fewer can go toe to toe with Richard Sterban! You know they must be fire when they had the honor of singing Amazing Grace at President Bush’s funeral!
The ORB's have still got it! Richard Sterban has such a rich tone. I've watched them sing with Bill Gaither's group. They all remind you of a big Christian jam session.
Close! 1981. I only remember that because we moved into the house where my mom still lives when I was 6 and this was playing on the radio every half hour while we were painting and plastering. LOL.
This is the first time hearing this version. I love it. I’ve been a fan of the Oaks for 25 years. I’ve seen them in concert almost 10 times. They can still rock. Joe has so much energy on stage and his voice hasn’t changed that much over the years. He’s the youngest of the group at 74. Duane and Richard are turning 80 in April and William Lee Golden just turned 84 this month Joe Bonsall (the high tenor) usually sings lead on this song. I love hearing Duane Allen singing some lines. Omm poppa part of the song sung by Richard Sterban. That’s the best part of the song. .
For Oak Ridge Boys, I recommend "Sail Away." Before we were married, my husband and I were 700 miles apart for 6 months, and this was the song that spoke to us.
What I was about 9, we had two gospel quartets at our church, the Keystone Quartet and the Oak Ridge Quartet. Two singers from each group sang together. They became the Oak Ridge Boys.
Now to add to the deep voice in this song. Oh h@#@ yeah. Love this song. Bring it now please. Don't need the reaction cuz you gonna be so orange juiced that the angels are gonna run out and have to buy more before the end of the song.
My son was like 3 when this song came out. No matter where we were he just couldn't stop himself. He would start singing, very load, and dancing. He might have people watching him in the middle of the grocery store.
The Oak Ridge Boys are a really great group. They have been mentors to Home Free ever since. Infact the have preformed on stage with them quite a few times. Tim wanted to be able to sing like Richard Sterban of the Oak Ridge Boys. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
They pushing 80. The bearded one's wife was my echo bus driver. He occasionally would sub for her. His name is Willie Golden. At one time he had a teepee in his yard. His home in Hendersonville on the lake. Johnny and June Cash, Conway Twitty, and many others did as well. Reba McIntyre had her home in Gallatin just on the other side of the lake. Her horse barn was a friggin mansion.
My parents took my cowboy hat to a country music festival in the middle of nowhere in Oklahoma when I was roughly 12-13, and got it signed by him. The festival was a yearly country music festival with multiple artists, but that year they were honoring Chris Ledoux, who had just passed. I wore that signed hat to my 8th grade graduation with a tux. 😂
Loved your reaction to this great, great old classic with the great Oaks! They have become Home Free's mentors. Great relationship. If you haven't yet, be sure to watch the Christmas song they did together on stage, Beautiful Star of Bethlehem. Wow! Take care.
Great reaction to a great song. This song was a crossover so you heard it on country music stations but also on pop stations. " Bobby Sue is another great hit by these guys. If you like the Oakridge Boys you will probably like the Statler Brothers. Check out "Flowers on the Wall which Home Free has covered, also check out "Elizabeth", "The Class of '57" , " I'll Go to my Grave Loving You ", and many more.
Oak Ridge boys are country legends. I loved Elvira when I was a kid and drove my family crazy running around singing it. I love this cover. I'm so glad both groups did it together. Definitely check out more of The Oaks.
When I first heard the bass Tim fm Home Free , I immediately thought of bass fm Oak Ridge Boys.. I grew up to Oak Ridge Boys .. so to the Oak bass and Tim are the closest and best I’ve ever heard .. Oak Ridge Boys sing Bobby Sue ..
I was 15 and this was my first concert ever. At 6 flags over Texas with crystal gale. I’m 57 now. So ya, they’ve been around for a minute! Love them and Home Free.
I really enjoyed your reaction to this collaboration. Home Free and the Oak Ridge Boy are both terrific. Actually, this is a collaboration with three groups. The number was arranged by Tim Foust, Geoff Castellucci and Voiceplay. Geoff is the bass for Voiceplay. I know you reacted to Voiceplay about 4 months ago, you should really give them another listen. If you are a gamer, they just dropped a cover of The Dragonborn Comes from Skyrim. Or try their Carry On Wayward Son, Can't Help Falling in Love or Man in the Mirror!
AB I am so glad you did this song and reacted to it. One of my favourite collaboration that Homefree did. Thank you so much. I love your channel. Keep up the great work....xoxo ❤
I've always listened to the Oak Ridge Boys and had my cowboy hat signed by the long bearded guy. The Oak Ridge Boys group has been around for an insanely long time. I think the guy with the long beard has been in the group the longest, but they've all been in it for decades. I remember them singing Amazing Grace at George H.W. Bush's funeral a couple of years ago.
God bless the Oak Ridge Boys! Their song, I Wish You Could Have Turned My Head (And Left My Heart Alone) saved my sanity. My son had was colicky for 4 months straight and singing this song to him would soothe him and stop the crying. ❤️
Such a good collaboration between the two. They also did a Christmas song Live together - Star of Bethlehem. Adam’s beatboxing was incredible. Loved the basses. Good reaction AB. They are 🔥
Elvira paid for a new home for each one of the Oak Ridge Boys. You may want to consider reacting to a Christmas colab with The Oak Ridge Boys, Jeffrey East and Home Free called Star of Bethlehem. Jeffrey East plays the guitar and opens with the voice of an Angel.
My dad would put a stack of records in our console stereo every night when we went to bed (we had speakers in our headboard) and The Oak Ridge Boys, The Statler Brothers, JD Sumner and the Stamps Quartet, Jim Reeves and Eddy Arnold were always the featured artists. You might want to check out Home Free's cover of Flowers on the Wall. It's from their quarantine series. That song instantly took me to my childhood years.
I'm almost sixty. This song came out when I was in jr high school, so they're closer to their eighties. The Oak Ridge Boys did the saddest song ever written: I'll Be True To You.
The Oak Ridge Boys are on my list, from way way back! ;D they had a huge number of hits back in the day. I assume in their 70's I am 73! I would fit right in with that group. LOL Have you ever heard Andy Griffith sing? He is a great singer.
I'm glad you done this video. The long gray bearded gentleman I had the privilege of meeting, talking to and have my picture with when I worked in Branson MO. His name is William 'Bill's Golden. One of the nicest people you will ever meet. I caught your first reaction video to Home Free and I laughed so hard so I looked at most of your reaction to their videos, but my favorite is the Butt Medley. If you want to hear the best version of their harmonies, where it blends together so good and literally sounds like one voice, check out their video to AULD LANG SINE, I think that's how you spell it. Keep up the awesome work.
The Oak Ridge Boys is one of my favorite groups. Some of my favorites are Thank God for Kids, One in a Million and Bobby Sue. You should do the original Elvira while you're at it. Epic!
Hey, just because some people are older, it does not mean they cannot sing. Especially if they been singing all their life. In our church choir there are 80year old folks that sing superb. Greetings from Germany

@@ABtheKreator Did I miss it. The song is a game changer to me. P.S. I wanted to thank you for all you do. You have helped me through a very tough year. I wish you all the Orange Juice you can handle.
Loved this! I grew up with The ORB and that "Classic Country" and always loved Elvira ... And HF singing it is Gold!!! Still waiting for you to react to HF cover of 9 to 5
William Golden the Oakridge boy with the long white beard is 83 years old. Richard Sterban their bass is 79. Joe Bonsall the high tenor that sang with Austin is 74 and Duane Allen the tenor that sang with Rob is 79 years old. Thay are still going strong and killin it.
The older bass singer Richard Sterban was with JD Sumner and the Stamps who backed up Elvis in the early 70s. He left the Stamps to join the Oak Ridge Boys.Funny you should mention Clint Eastwood he did a tune w/ T G Sheperd called "Make My Day" sort of parodying his line from the Dirty Harry films.

Big facts!!! Great all the way around 🔥🙌🏾
This was an epic, professional review!
Rob questioning his level of beard gets me every time
I forget, until I see him, that the bass singer for The Oak Ridge Boys sang with Elvis.
He left Elvis to join Oak Ridge Boys.
👀🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yep
That band where they from they have roads in towns named after them and I'll leave it at that (which means several were born on way to beaches on coast so you pass through)
The late J.D Schneider also did bass vocals with Elvis
It's amazing to see two generation's singing a song together that was released in 1981! The Oakridge Boy's still got it after all these years!
I think Austin’s selfie is a picture of “can you guys believe who I got to sing with ?”
Duane Allen is 75,Joe Bonsall is 69.,William Lee Golden is 79, Richard Sterban is 75,and they've been around for about 45-50 yrs now...

Love the Oak Ridge Boys- now sprinkle Home Free orange juice, on top of that = FIRE 🔥
The Oakridge Boys are legends!!! They’re also really great friends and mentors of Home Free. ♥️

The Oak Ridge Boys are classic country. Most definitely a staple and worth listening too as they have a lot of really great songs
The Oak Ridge Boys were in their ear;y 70's. This was a huge crossover hit for them in 1984 I be;ieve
