- It is a war that has lasted for one hundred years, and the French have lost nearly every battle. Soon the English and their allies in Burgundy will conquer all of France. The heir to the French monarchy is too cowardly to ascend to the throne. The French army is wounded and tired and has given up all hope. But in the darkest hour, a young peasant girl declares that she intends to save France.

Letting Joan die, just when the castle falls, glitching through the fist scenario... you really manage to play these campains in a quite extra ordinary way.

Angeldaz, I cannot dispute your more accurate date. My son and I downloaded the Demo in November of 1997. Mondaten. I played for hundreds of hours with my son as his mother/my wife lay dying of 4 stage breast Cancer. We lost her on March 12th 1998. I played that damn demo until I bought AOE 2 for Christmas 1999. We did buy that earlier one, we never played much. I must have an AOE 1 disc around somewhere, had Romans?
Prankishsquire That must have been a very rough time for you and your son, very sorry to hear that. I hope that aoe made it a little, if not a lot more bearable to get through those times for both of you.
My son, now 26, became a master of strategy. Then a sniper with awesome skills. I will ask him when the last time he played was. He is in his third year of Medical School. AOE made him the thinker he is. When he was 7 or 8 he would cry when he lost a villager.

EpicTubah of course , just imagine , if viper had a hard time in this one , think in the last of saladino against 5 or 6 armys all alone with 75 pop , i cant wait , this missions are more about knowing the outcomes that having good skill sush as viper , i mean , he is great but for these ,you need trial and error

Forward Castle is all you're missing mate. It'll keep them (red) penned in while you build up.
I have noticed from playing the AI and the campaign that the AI struggles a bit versus castles/towers/walls.
Man i'am feeling with you but glad to see that something like that not just happens to me. Great series, keep the good work!

I never played it on hard but even on moderade its hard.
saladin 6:i tried 3 times on moderate, last time i succeeded by doing a rush on the lowest opponent with those galleys. I watched a tutorial before doing that, but still that mission took me like 1.5 hours on moderate. GL VIPER lol.

That's the one with the wonder right? Oh, I remember how I tried to beat that, so many saves, so many loads... Also teutons whole campaign... In fact everything becomes harder after the middle of Saladin.
This probably wont be noticed but north of Blois is a dock and a transport ship you can obtain that can get you to Orleans without having to get through the british first.

best strat in this map is to wall the bridge and put a castle on it and focus troops on the nortern ones, maintain troop preasence near the left ones so they cant arrass your income (wich is on the left) and the rest should be a walk in the park :P

you can just rush the orange's castle, it's barely protected, without murder holes and villagers constantly open the gate... this was however pretty entertaining to watch, mainly your confusion :D and the end was much more than we all could have hoped for :D

lol xD I loved your surprise that the campaigns are actually going to start challenging you more than ignoring eco. General rule of thumb: if you can build units you have to in order to win. And don't fight big battles with hero units
Viper two tips ir you think of redoing this , after blois go north and there are 2 ships so you transport the resources instead of going through the bridge , and second tip , the bridge for some reason is property of blois so if you use cartography you can see what pass through.

btw, I recommend trying to take Burgundy out in the maps of the Joan D'arc campaign even if they are not part pf the main objective as it will alleviate your side a bit and guarantee more access to resources.

I think it would be easier if you didn't attack the gate but a random wall closer to you. You wouldn't have lost so many rams.
Also welcome to AoE2 AI hell in which every archer is annoyingly perfectly microed so you kill him for an hour. Zak went through this, I still remember his frustration.
For most of these French campaigns I made a castle and would create enough petards to just walk through a wall and blow up a castle

Playing campaigns for the first time that too on hard difficulty and without saving, the campaigns ahead will be brutal but fun to watch :D

Hahahah that was so unexpected. Literally the last second. But I love your positivity, and that you uploaded it anyway. Maybe you could save the game periodically, or just be more careful with objectives that make you lose automatically (keep heroes away from risky fights, castles, etc.). Once you get to the African Kingdoms and Rise of Raja campaigns, the difficulty is much higher.
