  • This is an ideal warm-up you should apply before every workout with some speed.
Personally, I apply this warm-up before every threshold, fartlek, tempo, and interval workout, as well as before the Olympic Games.
Here is a quick recap of the routine:
    15min easy run
    3x1min threshold pace
    Mobility and dynamic stretches
    2-3 strides
    Enjoy the video!

How about warming up before an easier (threshold) session. Eg 10x1km or 20x400m. I always feel like it's a bit overkill to warm up so much because you're first not nearly running at max speed and second you have so many intervals to get into the flow.
Before vo2 or sprint sessions this seems great tho. Everyone's welcome to correct me, but I feel like a 15min jog, 5min Mobility/Drills and 2x80-100m strides is plenty for a threshy session, especially for double t.
    Thanks in advance!!

Very helpful thank you! Been doing most of it anyways but I haven't included the threshold before, gonna try that the next few times.
What do you do on easy days? I usually do just some light dynamic stretching and a bit of jumping^^

I wonder why you don't do the mobility exercises before the threshold repeats? Seems like the mobility and opening would benefit the faster running.

A question: are collagen, vitam C and D supplements necessary if you run often or is it sufficient to get these from food, sun light etc. (if that's possible)?

    • @larsvangansbeke6311
      @larsvangansbeke6311 2 місяці тому +1

Vitamin C is not necessary to take as a supplement because you get enough of it from vegetables and fruit. However, vitamin D can be useful, especially in Western Europe where the majority of the population is deficient in vitamin D during the winter. There are no clear guidelines regarding collagen; scientists do not agree on whether it provides any added value. It is certainly not harmful, so if you believe in it, you can definitely take it.

I always feel like Collagen is a bit overhyped. It's one of the many non essential amino acids that the bidy can produce itself in theory. But for that you have to consume enough protein (~ .8-1 g/bodyweight for active people) and there a high quality whey or full amino spectrum vegan protein powder can help, but if you're having enough protein naturally I wouldn't worry about that.
Vitamin C should be easy to cover with your diet, eg 1 red bell pepper or 2 kiwis almost provide the daily value. Vitamin D is a problem though, because we're not nearly spending enough time in the sun with unvovered skin, so a test could be useful there. If it's too expensive for someone to test, a low dose of vitamin D in a combo with Vitamin K2 is almost certainly not toxic yet.

@@larsvangansbeke6311 Thank you so much. I appreciate your thoughts. Vitamin D makes sense indeed, especially in Western Europe. Does an olympic athlete or for that matter a new runner who begins to run more than 100K a week need any other supplements or would it be possible to get enough from a normal, healthy diet?

    • @postscriptum3038

@@eliaskolar2866 Thanks a lot! So, if someone gets in enough protein, Collagen would not be necessary. If a runner starts to run more than 100K a week, would you advice that person to take protein supplements and for that matter any other supplements apart from Vitamin D?
