Be sure to check out restaurant supply stores in Calgary, my dad owns a restaurant and I basically spent a lot of my time in the Russel Foods parking lot waiting for him as a child 😂 I can’t wait to build my own soap studio! Also can you do a video on insurance for your soap business?
Can you please add, about testing products since you were in ontario, what is requirement in ontario to test produts, licenses, gst and all that aspects. Thank you.
@@aminaahmed6023 she did a video about labelling products if that helps. im no expert but in Canada you dont exactly need to worry about GST until you hit $30k in revenue, as for licenses you need to register with your city (they will let you know what licenses you need & with COVID some major cities have waived the fee for small businesses) and check with your province (i think in ontario you need to register with them but again never hurts to ask)
Ahhh I’m so exited for you! !! 🥰 I resonate with your story on leaving the corporate world to make soap as I am on the same boat. So happy to see what’s to come for you🙂
Thank you for doing this. I have a small work space, but your research helped me to get a better idea fir what I can do and the approximate cost. Glad you made it to your new home and you're both healthy!
Jerika - look at airtight pt food storage for the citric acid and baking soda. They are usually on wheels and come in 25-50 lb capacity for less than $100 each.
Thank you so much, I'm embarking on expanding my candle and soap business, and I an currently trying to reorganize my office/ studio space. This was very helpful!
Soap & Clay display shelf is from The Container Store. They are super sturdy but a little pricey. I used to work there. They have great storage solutions for any and everything. I believe it’s called skandia
Thank you for the info. That’s one goal I have for 2022, to upgrade my workspace. I also have my basement dedicated for the business but need to make it more efficient for my soap business.
I love soap and clay. I have brought some shelving from Ikea and because I am just starting I got the Ivan shelving and also so big lazy Suzanne. This video it's perfect as it's helping me to make my studio the best as I can with the very small space i have 3x4 sq meter lol
I'm so impressed with your changes. Right now I'm in a tiny bedroom that I use for my full time job, all of my soaping stuff, and my psychic business. I have some great shelves for my soaping supplies, but I totally need better organization.
I would also check out Lowe’s we just bought a brand-new house and have a really big laundry room and that has become my soap and bath bomb studio I purchased an extra-large cabinet for 200 that has eight adjustable shelves in it that I’m also able to lock up and I also bought shelves with the metal brackets to hang up on the wall that are the length of my 6-foot long table that line up perfectly but it’s definitely a more cost-effective option for people who are unable to spend over $1000 in the beginning when running an online business.
I am interested to know how those dry storage bins will work out for you. They didn't look very airtight. Keep us posted! And congrats on the new space!
Hi Jerika! So glad you're doing well and excited to watch your progress. For your soap how about bakery bread racks? They are adjustable, come is many heights, are on wheels and hold sheet pans. Check out the Regency 20 Pan End Load Full Height Bun / Sheet Pan Rack with Cover and 12 Pans for example. Good luck with everything.
I am so excited watching you do this. I am doing the exact same thing!!! My house is getting remodeled so I am a few months behind you, but so fun watching you create your space!! Thank you for sharing your ideas!!
Thanks for sharing this video, great content. I've watching the soap & clay videos for over a year now and she has some really good information. Keep on sharing. God bless.
Great to see a new video. Especially on topic of storage! I am not sure about Canada, but I purchased a few metal shelving units for our home from Lowe’s. They range from 100-130 or about. The pricing went up from whenI initially purchased mine last year. They are very sturdy and you can add a lot of weight to each shelf for supplies.
I am excited to see this process. I am getting ready to move my workspace into its own room in my house. This was helpful in getting my cluttered brain a list of things to think about in designing my new space. Thanks so much!
Ugh, I envy you! Lol. My soap space is a MESS! I have to move and haul everything from one room where it is stored to my kitchen every time I make anything! It is such a pain. And I love Mrs. Soap and Clay as well! Follow you both religiously 💕
Great video. I bought my my smaller stainless steel tables from Amazon & Home Depot online. I want one with the sink space next. Another affordable/ aesthetic option is the IKEA Bror product line they have wooden topped and steel options.
Glad to see you are doing well in "isolation". Looking forward to your return to Canada. Stainless steel work surfaces are definitely the way to go as they sanitize well with 10% bleach solution, a must for GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices). You may also want to consider getting 2 tables, so that you can arrange them in an "L", that way 2 people can work on multiple lines at the same time, as you guys are destined for stratospheric success.
Great studio storage/workstation solutions Jerika! Do you know what size your whole studio/work area is, or the size of your basement where you will be working? I'm curious as to the best or optimum size a studio should be. Won't be long now before you're in your new home, so happy for you and Cale!
You finally made it to your new home Covid free bless you. May you both have a Abundant Joyful Prosperous many years of continuing fun in your business. 😊 👍 Keep shining.
Hi Jerrika, congratulations! This is amazing and I'm happy for you, thank you for sharing and being an inspiration. I'm sending you love and prayers for growing success in your journey 🙏🏼💗 God is good. Blessings!
Hi, I love your channel and your product you have really inspired me to make my own lip balm and lotion company. I am in the middle of trying to register with the government of Canada but I am a little lost on what to put as my primary activity. I was just wondering what you put as your own?
Those packing table are very durable. We had them at Big Dipper Waxworks and we use torches to clean beeswax off of them at night and they are still like new about 4 or 5 years after they got them. It's been awhile since I worked there but I bet they are still fine and dandy
We would use short bursts with a handheld propane torch, the button click ones, at a 45 degree angle then wipe with a paper towel. As long as you don't hit it with a direct full flame it melts it a bit! It really speeds cleaning up, and almost all cleaning was done that way, seemed scary at first! Best of luck on all of your upgrades! So exciting!
That seems really pricey for a stainless steel table. Check amazon. I only paid $99 for my 6'x2' table with shelf. Can't wait to see your new soaping space when you're finished!
I just got a 72in stainless steel table for my soaping studio from Amazon with free shipping I was so excited. Congrats on everything that is coming for you
Also I needed airtight containers for my bulk ingredients too and settled on sterlite lock tab containers they have a gasket and seal airtight…they come in multiple sizes and stack nicely…I keep bulk dry ingredients like oatmeal, sugar, magnesium chloride, etc and hard oils/butter like palm, cocoa, Shea. They are awesome! And super affordable!
We bought our soap table from Costco its half the price of Uline and looks identical to Uline and also Costco has all the great shelving super industrial for like $100 and table was $399 just FYI free shipping to your door too
Jerika do you use it for taxe or you combine with something like quick book. I look but is not clear about taxe paper that for Canadian. Thank in advance
Hi Jerika sounds like a great place!! I have a question for Crafty Base when entering for your bath bombs do you enter by each bath bomb or by a specific batch???
I enter every type of bath bomb I sell for inventory and their individual recipe so that when I create a batch, I log it into craftybase and it automatically removes the amounts From my materials and updates how much inventory I have. It’s sooooo cool and convenient!
Hey Jerika. I know this is off topic from this video. But it’s most recent. I made your bath bomb recipe. I usually hand mold them by hand. But I recently got a bath bomb press and used the same recipe and they sink in the tub. What have I maybe done wrong?? Thank you in advance
I bought a big tall white pantry for all my oils bottles etc and it has 4 doors 8 shelves all adjustable and 4 doors..amazon for under 100! think it was 70
This is all interesting and a good 'shopping' video but I'd recommend at least consulting a professional who could design a space that is not only efficient but utilizes the available space you have! Buying individual pieces is just not cost effective really.
Love your videos as always but you really sound like you should be resting. Watching tv, reading books, sleeping. Worried about you. It's ok to take a few days to rest. We know you're sick.

Packing too tight will cause them to sink. Pack a little lighter, poke holes as you go and they should be fine.
Walmart also have stainless steel table for a reasonable price.

Look into an automatic tape dispenser. You'll save time and money.

Go to Edmonton Costco business center
3 hours away!! 😩 but maybe worth the trip!
