So interesting about the history of Coco Chanel’s life. What a fascinating life she had and her determination and strength is amazing. Thanks for the information on nylon netting for structure. So much work goes into a jacket and it should last a long time. Thanks for sharing! 😀🧥👜🎨
Very detailed. Love it. Thanks for sharing. I’m very interested in structural integrity. I love for my sleeves to stay poof as an example. I haven’t make a ‘chanel’ jacket but I do intent to add netting to the one I will make (inspired by you) but I’m thinking about other jackets that I want to make. I love jackets and really want to perfect them. I also love the beading that you do. I’m going to add some beads to a dress I recently made…that will be my start…again, thanks for sharing
I know that there are people who use silk for the structural layer orf their tweed jacket and they love it but I wear my jackets everyday, not just once or twice. I need something that will remain strong for decades.
Yep, I have several videos where I made a tweed jacket step by step. You hand-stitch the tweed to the net. You can either do it before the long seams or after.
@@PerfectJacket thanks! And I am going back over those video. My current class ends in two weeks. Somehow I have missed it and finally had to ask. When I watched it the first time, I hadn’t tried to sew one (using more tailoring methods). Now that I have I can watch again with fresh eyes. Thanks for your patience, video is awesome but sometimes it’s a struggle for me until I have it in my hands. Thanks!
No worries. I know what you mean. It's one thing to think it through but it's so much easier when you have the fabric in your hands. Best of luck with it. 🥰🧥🎨🧵💉

Glad you enjoyed it! 🥰🎨🌸🧥🧵
I absolutely loved this video. Thank you Fin! By the way, I much prefer your way of making jackets with a structural layer inside. 🌹

This was so fascinating and wonderful. 💜💜💜
Thanks! 🥰🎨🧵🌸✨Glad you enjoyed it!
there is no way this video could have been shorter. Thank you for this!
Thanks! Yes, it was quite a challenge to get all the threads of information in there so I could tie them together at the end.
Fascinating, Gabriel’s backstory is remarkable as it is sad. She was a true feminist. I have much respect for her. ❤love your unique designs btw.
Thank you! Yes, she was an incredible person. 🧥🧵🎨🪡🌸
Thank you so much! Great video!
Thanks. 🥰🎨🧥✨🧵 You're very welcome!
Woah I knew nothing of her story. Amazing.
She certainly was an interesting person! 🎨🧵🌸
It’s a long video but it’s interesting that it doesn’t feel long. I rarely watch a video over twenty minutes long. Well done.
Thank you! She was such a complex person.
Love this!
Thank you! 🥰🎨🧵
Excellent
Thank you so much 🥰🎨💚
so you think taffeta is not enough for structuring? or too fragile?
I know that there are people who use silk for the structural layer orf their tweed jacket and they love it but I wear my jackets everyday, not just once or twice. I need something that will remain strong for decades.
So basically Channel was responsible for the beginning of the cheap fast fashion industry, only she pedaled it to the super wealthy.
Well, I think Chanel was just very good at spotting a trend and riding the wave.
So the net keeps the tweed safe but it isn’t sewn or quilted to the net? Just wrapping my head around it.

What do you think of organza for interlining?
Silk organza works as an interlining for silk or light weight lace but tweed is much heavier, it needs a more robust support, in my opinion.
How does the nylon net hold up to the heat of heavy steaming and pressing of seams and shaping wool?
Tweed is a different fabric to wool. It requires different techniques and skills.

Absolutely!
Karl Lagerfeld improved definitely the quality Chanel fabrics and craft.
Yes, he definitely had the power to get big budgets and used them well.
