  • Hey guys. Another beautiful warm sunny day on the farm and the birds are enjoying summer like weather. The temperature was 24C or 75F. For being in northern Saskatchewan, Canada, It feels hot. Had to put the partial cover over top the aviary to give the crows and magpies some shade.
    Check the links below to learn more about these beautiful rescued birds.

    Beautiful weather. Same here. The first days of the year without rain and warm temperatures. I've been busy with my garden project all day long. Be careful with those widow makers and enjoy the sunshine. 👍

    Hi Kullike and Dennis, Kassie, the birds, Sonny Boy. We had beautiful weather in Southern Ontario this week. I turned the furnace off last week. Chilly past 2 days. Temp in the house is 18.5c, so I turned the furnace on temporarily at 19.5c. Temp will probably drop with rain. Everything is starting to look so green out there. The birds really loves the bath. Sunny Boy looks so furry with his long coat. He's sniffing about curious about his surroundings. Looks like he needs something like the size of the aviary with protective enclosure but big enough for him to explore around. Just saying. I know this would be expensive. Enjoy your weekend. Hope next week will continue with good weather.

    I wish I had a translator to know what Cherry and the wild crow were discussing. 🖤 My back garden crows have been sitting with beaks open for the past few days. It’s been in the mid 80s here!

    Hi there! How old is Pie? I am researching black billed magpies and was curious as to how long they can live. According to google the oldest a wild magpie that has been recorded was 9 years old in Saskachewan.
    Thank you in advance! I greatly appreciate the effort you all put into the care of these birds :)

    How do you catch them to put them inside the house at night?

    • @chv72
      @chv72  Місяць тому +2

      They are so ready to come in after a long day that they basically go right into their travel cages themselves.

    • @jmmarshall5492
      @jmmarshall5492 Місяць тому

      I wondered as I could not imagine you having to chase them around to catch. My chickens are trained to go into their hen house at dusk, and I can easily lock the door once they are on their perch. Keeps them safe from predators, and I don't have to chase them into it.

    Need some help guys. Magpie question help.
    Today I witness both mum and dad aggressively trying to get the baby magpie to leave it's nest. Or that's what I am thinking. The parents have not returned for 12 hours now as the tree sits right outside my window and see them every hour, or did, He bird fell out the tree so I picked him up and put him back in the tree. This is the 6th time I have done this. The 7th time yet again on the floor I heard him/her screaming so ran over to see him/her on the floor again with a cat chasing him. Lucky I caught him/her. Now in a cat box. All the numbers I have called are not interested and told me to put him back in the tree which I have done 6 times now. I am trying to fead him/her meal worms, berries being patient but he/she wont eat. Any advice would be very grateful?

      In many jurisdictions it is not permitted to keep a wild bird and should be taken to a wildlife rescue as it still could be released into wild after being with other wild birds at a rehab. If you keep it too long, it will become imprinted on you and very hard to release then. Is there not a animal rehabilitation place in your area?
