as a child of the 70's i kinda think that was better music, but i did love the tunes of the 80's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! music anytime is awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How 'bout the Beatles, Stones, Cream, Chuck Berry, BB King, Neil Diamond, Elton John, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, The Who, The Guess Who, Chicago, Stevie Wonder, Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton Derek and the Domino's, Little Richard, Steely Dan, Doobie Bros, Grateful Dead, Ted Nugent, Rockpile...you want me to go on? Lenard Skinner, Foreigner, Heart, The Kinks, The Band, Dave Mason, Linda Rhonstandt, Bachman Turner Overdrive, The Outlaws, Queen, Supertramp,...I can keep on going...how old are you anyways? 😮😮
If you've never seen Huey Lewis and the News, you've missed one heck of a show. Probably the best I've ever seen live. (and I've been to a lot of concerts back in the day!)
Better and/or on equal footing, with "Weird Al Yankovic and The Noteworthy Points Of Interest Plus a Vary Of Homemade Drugs n' Cocktails. Partake At Your Own Risk. Do Not Talk To Strangers, Before Partaking. Results, May Bevy.
My Daddy worked for a local catering company when their band came to town. He had the awesome opportunity to meet Huey Lewis. My Dad said that guy was one of the nicest people he'd ever met. Idk. Back in the 80's, music was not complicated, didn't sugar-coat a thing and just plain simply straight up. I'll stop at that.
What an amazing band. Chris Hayes is just brilliant. Huey Lewis and the News was always one of my favorite bands ever. They are ageless, their music is so diverse, they will stand the test of time.
You could only fit 2 people in the Delorean. If you want to bring more, you would have to make extra trips. Better bring extra plutonium or you may get stuck back there. You can put Biff in the trunk.
We all have our opinions. I saw these cats live and listened to them growing up. They are still my favorite. So into the music and actually playing music on instruments. Get well Huey.
Nah the best player Chris Hayes is whoever disagrees must have their head in a Justin bieber record as they sure dont know what music is. if you hate Chris Hayes, im sorry, but i think you need a new drug
They're perhaps the most underrated of the era in terms of pure talent and tightness. Check out the MTV concert from 1982, touring their 2nd album... It's addictive!
One of the greatest bands ever. All the players were great in their own right, and all the songs they put out were hits. Wish I could have seen them live.
Chris is a great, solid musician. At a time when many of his colleagues were sporting spandex, make-up and volumes of Final Net, Chris was rocking with his good friends - an excellent band with no weird break-ups or drama. I seriously doubt that any of the authors of goofy negative "opinions" posted below have measured up to this type and quantity of success, while remaining a genuinely cool human being, like Chris.
That guy is a monster good player. Walked away to be with his wife and raise the kids. Outstanding human being. Mega talent. The Henricks nods fit right in. How can you not love this guy?
Chris comes from a very musically gifted family. His older sister is Bonnie Hayes, the composer and recording star, and his brother, Kevin, was the drummer for the Robert Cray Band. I worked with Chris' other brother, Sean, and their other sister, Roseanne, in a real estate development office my brother owned in Carmichael, CA back in 1989. The only funny story I remember that Sean told was about how Chris was cleaning behind his bed one day and found a $65,000 check for a concert, and said "Oh, so that's where that went!" Sean and Roseanne were cool to work with and you could definitely see the family resemblance to Chris.
Chris Hays was one of the best players of his generation. He always brought something fresh to the table and his technical prowess is staggering. He remains a massive influence on my own playing.
The 80s had some of the greatest music ever and these guys were killers and I am a black guy and loved them and still do and a lot of the cross over music of the 80s what a good time we had I am now retired and A grandfather and I’m 60 years old thank God !!
"Individually we're not the greatest musicians, but as a unit, we're a damn good band" H.Lewis. I know the solo wasn't the best thing in the world, so did Huey and the rest of the guys, but it was a pretty good performance nonetheless. They really nailed the song. It sounds the same, if not better, that the studio version.
I was 25 in 80. It was a time of change. The 70s spelled the death of classic rock. U2, Robert palmer, Rush, Journey, The news, Foreigner, Van Halen, Van Hagar, and so many more defined that decade. Louder, bigger and more theatrical with a generally happier tone. Reagan was president, the wars were behind us finally, we thought, hippies were becoming businessesmen. Boomer were buying their first home.
Songs like this will be played thousands of years from now, and everyone will say "how old is this masterpiece?! My gosh, did they ever know how to make music back then!"
Ya' think? Epic is more like it. He grew up taking lessons in classical guitar and hating rock. Then a friend of a friend brought them together and Chris found out how many more chicks rock guitarists snag than classical guitarists. Chicks lured him to the dark side.
I loved this band growing up. I remember waiting by the TV in middle school waiting to watch their videos on MTV. Chris was the mastermind behind much of the very popular music that came out of this band. I have heard that he was a Jazz guitarist before joining Huey Lewis and the News.
I'm 51 now and still sing this one. timeless it is, and true as well. I want a new drug, Pot is still the best, I think I will go do a few bong hits and play this again. P>S> thanks for putting this up.
Watching Chris play this intro reminds me of all the times I saw him on stage with the band. Great memories and what a performer. His guitar just drove the sound when you heard the News Live. Whatever your doing Chris, thanks for the guitar pick and kind words at the HOB, long time ago. Hope you still are playing golf and having some fun. Appreciate all the leads I stole from you off the records. take care, Ed
I was driving through the back roads of the Midwest at 4:00 in the morning and heard this on AM radio 😁... That saxophone sounds so cool with a little bit of static.
im 52 in a few days, on Jew Lie 22nd this was my first concert Las Vegas Nevada ( born and raised) Heartbeat of rock and roll Thomas and Mack center 1983
When I was a young man in my late teens and Huey Lewis first hit the scene I thought he looked like an old man. Today when I see videos of him from back then it now makes ME look like the old man! LMAO
10/10 Mike... Chris was a master in the 80's, and was most likely a big influence on many of today's players. Still plays these days, but more along the smooth jazz style.
Cummmmmm onnnn! What the F you want from your music? Tight, infectious, filled the joy that the people making it love what they do. Nothin better this side of the green pastures. Turn up that hearing aid, Huey, and sing it again!!!
The last days of the original lineup before Mario was kicked out of the band. I look forward to listening to the rest of the concert. Especially as the audio quality is good. Thanks for uploading!

There are no bad Huey Lewis and the news songs! Want a terrific band!
Huey Lewis and the news was one of my very favorite bands, and I am now 71 years old and still love it
Grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. The best two decades for Rock ever, and Huey Lewis was one of the greatest! Man, do I miss those days!
Hewey Lewis totally rocked the 80s. Man the 80s were the best decade ever. Was so amazing being a teenager in the 80s.
You mean Huey Lewis!!!

Agreed 12/22 throughout the 80's great time to be a young buck. The polar opposite of today's world. Peace to you............

There were many days like that but they're long gone.
Now we have Kanye West and Dr. Dre 😷💩
@@DraganCheGagi Dr. Dre is talented for what he does

Great band, I wish I could go back. The 80's were spectacular.
If you've never seen Huey Lewis and the News, you've missed one heck of a show. Probably the best I've ever seen live. (and I've been to a lot of concerts back in the day!)
+MegaZiglet Why aren't you still going to shows?
shut up
MegaZiglet i saw them in Southern California early 80s. Crowd was lile bumps on logs until Tammy and i got them all up off their asses. Great show.
Oh hell yes. Saw them in the 80s. Very slow concert period for the location I lived. Huey came to town. I was blown away.
WTF is this? I’m 20 and never lived during the 80s. For the love of God, what have I missed? Seriously dude? Thanks You Tube
Yeah mate ,80s bands were great
Huey Lewis is one of the greatest.
Back to the future
The 80's music was the best music ever!! Breathe, you'll catch on.

13 years' ago...
San Francisco Bay area Rock n roll
I should hope so. So much talent.
I'd give anything to have been at this show. If I had a Delorean, I'd be at this concert now.
Was there awesome show
Roads? :D
You could only fit 2 people in the Delorean. If you want to bring more, you would have to make extra trips. Better bring extra plutonium or you may get stuck back there. You can put Biff in the trunk.
Next best thing, play this song in a DeLorean lol
Chris Hayes = most underated guitar player of the 80's. Thank you Chris for the inspiration!

Dude can play. He also looks a bit like Emilio Estevez in mom jeans in this video.
maybe worst player of the 80's... share that new drug man lol

Chris Hayes is a highly underrated player imo. Saw them in '91 and it was one of the best most fun shows I've been to.
Everybody hating on The Hayes....The guitar was good...The song was solid.
NONE BETTER!
Yup best of all time
I love the pick scrape by Chris which really opens the song.
I remembered they had a great run in the 80's, but had forgot just how great that band could be! Good stuff!

I sincerely hope Huey get's his hearing back. What a great performance!

Chris "Fucking" Hayes tearing it up on guitar!!!
80's SF Bay Area, 49ers, Huey Lewis, life was great! Saw them at The Saddle Rack and Mountain Winery
Still Rocking at 73.
Chris Hayes' playing, always loaded with Heart and Soul and Bill Gibson........like a clock.
Bill Gibson and mario cipollina, best drum & bass combo in my opinion. Both absolutely rock solid
Can't forget about Johnny Colla! This band was loaded with musicianship!

I have watched a lot of their live videos and Huey’s vocals are 100% spot on. Always. And love his harmonica playing. Very cool.
Excellent band, good singer good horns really good guitar play. Most tight band I’ve ever seen
Saw them in 2015. Sold out a 12,000 seat venue and were just as good as they were in the 80's.
Every member of this band was a boss, from their mastery of their instruments to their moves on stage. So very underrated, even in the 80's.
