Grown Ups Movie Description:
A single man who drinks too much. A father with three daughters who he rarely sees. A guy who is overweight and unemployed. A hen-pecked househusband. A successful Hollywood agent married to a fashion designer. What do these five men have in common? They used to play for the same basketball team at school. Now their former coach has died, and they are reunited at his funeral. Will the group rediscover old bonds?
Grown Ups is a 2010 American comedy film directed by Dennis Dugan, written by Adam Sandler and Fred Wolf, and produced by Sandler and Jack Giarraputo. The film stars Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, and Maya Rudolph. The film tells a story of five lifelong friends who won their junior high school basketball championship in 1978. They reunite three decades later for a 4th of July weekend after learning about the sudden death of their basketball coach.
Produced by Sandler's Happy Madison Productions in association with Relativity Media, Grown Ups was released in the United States on June 25, 2010, by Columbia Pictures. Despite receiving unfavorable reviews from critics, it grossed $271 million and led to a sequel, Grown Ups 2, in 2013.

This is one of those movies that many people seem to hate, but I can't help but enjoy it. I just love seeing Adam Sandler's character hanging out with his friends while on vacation. That's literally me during my high school years, hanging out with friends.
I guess some people don't like movies that's basically is "movies that just have friends hanging out on vacation with their families".
Ya it’s weird that people hate on it. Not saying it’s the best movie or anything but it has a nostalgic feeling to it. Also, it’s just a chill movie hanging out with friends. Idk why anyone would hate that concept 😂
It's a guilty pleasure the 2nd one was just terrible
@@skyeslaton3435 That one is funnier lol.
@@RedRoseSeptember22 it really is.
Whatever you feel about this movie, the cast has major chemistry. No joke.
Facts
they all grew up together
Besides the wife’s the guys actually all did grow up together😂 it was the wife’s ability to match their chemistry that made this SOOOO great
This is a pretty cool movie, but I just can’t help but wonder. What if Farley was able to be in it and didn’t pass before being able to do it .
Hangover part 2 copied the singing funeral scene from Grown Ups
Rest in peace to Cameron Boyce, who played Adam Sandler's youngest son, Keith. He tragically passed away back in 2019 after suffering a seizure in his sleep
Rest his soul
Sad. The guy that played the muscular dude from Canada just passed away too.
*Rest In Love & Power Cameron Mica Boyce (1999 - 2019)* 🕊💝❤️💙
The reason she was mad that he canceled Milan before they arrived at the cabin was because that was part of her career. He went to the cabin, never actually intending to go to Milan but allowed her to believe he did. He lied to her
Fax, he also lied to the kids as well
Exactly.
But they were literally packed and ready to go. When was he planning on telling her????
Right...total dick move id be livid too
"Hey, what's up LADIES?!"
I love this movie. A lot of people don't, but the reason I love this movie is because you can see how the actors were just having fun. Took a vacation together, shot a movie and improvised a lot of it.
Also, I love how Adam Sandler always keeps his friends working.
one of the last great comedies it got down low after this
The best thing about this movie is that it was just a bunch of friends hanging with each other and having fun.
U can see the joy in the acting
Who tf doesn’t like this movie. Talking pure waffle you
(Banshee laugh track plays) 😂😂
Screw the critics. One of my favourite Sandler movies. To me it is like all his other movies in one. Love the holiday vibe with friends.
wow today i learned this movie has bad reviews. they must have taken this movie WAY too seriously cause there’s no way you can watch this and not be entertained
One of the best Adam Sandler comedies, even the sequel was surprisingly good. This and "just go with it" are top tier.
yeah its simple comedy
The Grown Up is basically just "I'm just having fun with friends since childhood"
Exactly, there's a tiny bit of drama but you don't notice any of that because the whole plot is just friends having fun.
Sequel was trash
@@SuperRaditz7 sure it wasn't better than the first but it was in no way trash, that scene on the cliff with the frat boys was one of the best comic scenes ever
RIP Cameron Boyce, he plays one of Adam's son. He had seizures and died in his sleep few years ago during his filming of Disney's Decedents 3 movie.
I really don’t understand the hate for this movie, it’s got the classic Sandler comedy with the heartwarming story aspect, one of his best in my opinion! It’s one of the feel good movies that I find so funny no matter how many times I watch it.
Exactly!! 💯❤
In recent years it's just been the cool thing to do to hate on Adam Sandler movies. Some of his movies are absolutely garbage, but most are still a fun time even if they aren't the best movies, just as they have since the beginning of his movie career.
@@Xynth22they are dumb fun movies and people need to understand that don't like that type of movie cool they aren't for you then.
@nolifealan9746 more good movie for us then 😂😂
"I wanna get chocolate wasted." It is my favorite phrase in this movie 😂
It’s just a feel good movie. And now learning that it was written in the 90s it makes sense why I surprisingly loved it when it came out.
Mel, if you ever notice in any of Adam Sandler‘s movies, he tends to work with the same people, because he views them as his family.
Love this movie
The jokes are brutal
The slapstick is casual
And remember a random vacation whatever
The scene where Rob Schneiders daughters arriving cracked me up so hard!
"Drink your maize!" kills me every time. I personally loved it, it went into like #3 on my Adam Sandler list. Nice one!
It’s amaizing! 😂😂
“these my white people go get yo own” 😂😂🤣🤣 man i love that line
The joke with David Spade crying while sleeping was really messed up but was still really funny.
Adam Sandler says in a funny voice "its mommy's boyfriend. The one who touches you." And david spade starts crying, the implication being his moms boyfriend was "inappropriate" with him.
" Are we all looking at the tree?"
That scene alone was worth the whole movie lol
Fun fact: Joyce Van Patten (Gloria, the oldest wife) auditioned for the role of Bonnie Blue Butler in "Gone With the Wind," and was previously married to this film's director, Dennis Dugan from 1973 to 1987.
Fun fact there is no dye in the water but when it smells extra “chlorine” like, like when you smell a chlorine pool that’s the urine being killed off by the chlorine which makes that iconic smell everyone remembers
Buy a bottle of chlorine and smell it, it smells like pool, you dont need to piss in it
Bruh
Growns ups( both movies) , just go with it , and blended are the Adam Sandler's best comedies IN MY OPINION
Yeah blended was awesome
Whats great about this movie is its not even really a movie. It's literally Adam Sandler and all his friends just hanging out on summer vacation. This whole movie was basically improvised for the most part. it really shows how much Sandler really cares about his friends. He always makes sure they're well taken care of.
Mell when the women are looking at the guy: “y’all really entertaining this y’all are married”
Mell when the guys are looking at the girls: not a word about their marriages💀💀
He was lost in his thoughts. Are you expecting multitasking from this man of culture?
Stay upset and go get your some cats.
I was looking for this comment. It's just sad how women get objectified in media, especially in comedies, and no one seems to notice it until it's guys being looked at.
@@justmebeingmyself4679 Guys don't care either way
I was just thinking about this
This is one of those laid back films and I honestly love those. Like Dodgeball, just a movie to watch after a long week of work to smile and deflate.
Also, 29:18 "The Prayer" by Michael Bolton and Lara Fabian always makes me cry when f'ed up.
I think in the end this was nostalgia. Everyone watched this when they were younger, and the whole movie is just a feel good.
Totally agree with your assessment. It's a fun movie. I'm glad I've seen it. Not my favorite ever, but definitely a feel good kind of thing.
And RIP Cameron
Probably Cameron Boyce's unfortunate death is the main reason we will never get a third one which is really sad. These two movies are literally THE "summer comfort movie".
Summer Comfort Movie. Perfect description. It's cheesy, but like 5 Guys Burgers n Fries 🧀
Little trivia - Adam Sandler gave his co stars Chris Rock, David Spade ect...all cars at the end of the movie as a gift...David Spade didn't realize that the car was in his driveway until Chris Rock called him and told him to look and that it was from Adam. Originally David's first thought wen he saw the car was that he didn't understand why Adam wanted to watch over/babysit his car for him! He didn't understand that it was a gift for him until Chris Rock finally explained it to him 😂
The rope on the tree part cracked me up so much 🤣🤣🤣
R.I.P. Cameron😔
R.I.P to Cameron the younger son of Adam Sandler
RIP Cameron Boyce man 💔
RIP to Cameron Boyce who played Adam Sandler's youngest son in this film and the sequel. Died 4 years ago at the age of 20 on July 6th, 2019.
During the Maria part, Rob Schneider was really singing, "Sandler's beach house is bigger than Rock's." They kept the laughter in.
I love when actors improvise, to me that is the mark of a great actor. Adam is great! I will always be a fan.
The hold that "I wanna get chocolate wasted" had on culture when this movie came out is insane
This is one of my favourite movies and I know it’s silly and stupid but I don’t think it deserves all the hate it gets. Not all movies need to be really deep and sometimes it’s fun just to watch a movie that is pure fluff!! I watch this and the second one every summer. The second isn’t as good as the first but there are some funny bits so totally worth doing that one too!
I know it’s stilly and stupid, but that’s what makes it great!
I LOVED this movie as a kid. And still does now
This is a great movie, especially for those over 50. You must react to the sequel. I used to be more against Dickie Bailey for being a jerk. But after seeing this a few more times, I realized that in the beginning, Lenny's foot was over the line. Dickie didn't think he lost unfairly, he knew he did. To someone who had one chance to be great winning a championship, this can eat at someone, especially if their life doesn't turn out like they hoped. Not to spoil anything, but he is not as big a jackass in Grown Ups 2.
rickmclaughlin9710: I gotta be honest. It kinda put me off when the reactor was saying he wouldn't have let the angry guy win and didn't seem to understand what you and others saw so clearly...
That Sandler's character wanted this vacation time to Change how his life was going, the direction his friends' lives were going, and their children's lives were going.
He got what he wanted, and had the rare opportunity to help change the "antagonist's" life as well, even if it was trivial to others why it went wrong.
Winning meant so much more to the antagonist than it meant to Sandler's character. And giving that angry dude a chance to move past the thing that changed his life in a negative way was what his character was all about.
The title of the movie says it all. These people never Really grew up. But, this summer together helped them leave whatever was holding them back and move forward. Including the angry guy.
He Needed it as much as any of the people there, and the last scene shows the difference it made for him.
A difference that cost Sandler's character Nothing to give.
So, Thank You for pointing out this theme of the movie because it will help those who had trouble seeing it, see it a little more clearly
The kid that plays Chris Rocks son is the guy who plays Miles Morales in the spiderman games
I always thought this movie was pretty funny. First time I watched it, I realized that Kevin James's part was supposed to be for Farley when he came dancing up the hill with the KFC bucket on his head. Not sure what triggered it, but I came to the realization and just got sad for a bit. Kevin James isn't a bad substitute though.
I think you actually summed it up pretty well. I personally put this in my top 5 movies of all time and you putting up the thing about Farley might makes it even better. Something about the care free nature of it, the fact that the cast is all a group of real life friends.. idk. I love this movie. But it is very talked up so I can see how that’d lead to the casualness of it letting down the high hopes.
For me. This is just one of those that I can put on any time, any day, and just be entertained for an hour and a half. 🙂
Like the part at the funeral where Kevin James pulls up and they all start roasting each other, to my knowledge there was no script for that. It was just “roast each other” and you can see how genuine the fun is
I'm a straight woman, and Salma Hayek is even MY number 1 crush too 😍😍😍
Rip Cameron Boyce. 😔
Seeing Cameron Boyce is these old movies reminds me how fun he was
Rip Cameron Boyce ❤️💐😔
Yeah gone way too soon
My uncle and his friends did the thing with the arrow too, one of them lost an eye
Hey Mell I wanna thank you for always making my day better no matter what. We all love and appreciate you keep doing what you do much love ❤
It's basically just a fun hang out comedy movie
This movie is just hilarious and silly. I love it. And the sequel is just as much fun 😂
This is one of the movies that I just watch in the background when it comes on tv. One thing that Adam Sandler has done really well is put a dozen or so movies on tv and just play them multiple times a day. I notice one of his movies on tv every day, including this one. Passive income.
Selma Hayek in Fools Rush In is just *chefs kiss* 😍
I love this movie and Grown Ups 2! Anytime Adam Sandler & friends are in a movie I just KNOW 92% of all their lines are improvised
Honestly one of the most fun movies ever, especially when you’re watching it with your friends
this movie grew on me, it was ok at first watch but after a couple of rewatches i seemed to enjoy it more
I know it's not a popular opinion but this is in my top 3 Adam Sandler movies. The nostalgia I get from it is insane, remember talking my mom into letting us rent it from Radioshack & laughing so hard together with my family.
Idk 3, but def top 5 for me
Grown ups 2 now ! another banger
🔥🔥
I fell in love with Selma in Desperado, my GOD! You gotta watch that movie bro!
RIP Cameron Boyce
This comedy is so much fun. Great reaction Mello! 👍🏿
That grandma 🧓 fart and blaming the dog 🐶 was priceless. 🤘🏻
I love this movie. Comfort movie for me. It ALWAYS puts me in a good mood
You have to see Grown Ups 2. That's a good one, too!
i literally just finished watching them both 2 days ago and here you are now reacting to them that’s crazy
Love all them
I grew up on this movie! My dad showed it to me when I was young and I quote it all the time 😅 “hasta la vista chicken shiznit” “it’s voss water with a V!” “Midget Filipino Fonzie” “maize” “I’m wearing a toupee. No shet!” “He can talk the talk but he can’t.. I forget the rest.”
RIP Cameron Boyce 💔 Gone Too Soon
They could totally make a third one. But it’s understandable why they won’t
Without Cameron?
I don't think they would do it without Cameron
No disrespect intended but it’s not like Cameron Boyce was a key character in these films. It would suck that he’s not in it obviously but I wouldn’t say they couldn’t make another one without him. They definitely could but that all depends on Adam Sandler.
They could’ve made a third one in 2016 since he was still alive at that time. I don’t think they’ll ever make a third one though, it wouldn’t be the same without Cameron.
This movie just makes me happy everytime 😂
“but he’s going to drink you dry!” 😭😭😭
Almost every single thing that he said " Damn, I've never done that" was something that was a common occurrence for me growing up Lol. From riding and crashing in shopping carts during a hurricane to peeing in the pool Lol. Interesting how wildly different people grow up.
Grown ups is soo funny love your content man
This movie just makes fun! One of my favorites 🤗
“Mazeeee” “It’s amazing” 🤣🤣
Ayyyooo Mell got a new set up let’s go bros moving up in life!!!!! Congrats 🥳
You were born during the prohibition!! 😂 Favorite moment. Oh yeah watch Desperado. Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek. Great action flick
I love this movie, I gotta watch both 1st and 2nd every summer since they came out. Just too funny and enjoyable not to. They're just hanging out as found family, even the kids. Lmao❤❤❤
Fun fact The kid who plays Chris rock’s son plays miles in Spider-Man ps4 and miles morales
COOL REACTIONS MELL'O!
2:18 bro i just noticed you behind the couch 😂💀💀 great edit
R.I.P Cameron Boyce 1999-2019❤
This is one of my favorite Adam Sandler movies. It's just so hilarious I love it. "Hey what's up ladies" is my favorite part of the entire movie.
"why would you bring a dog to a funeral" 😂😂 fax
One of my favorite comfort movies ❤
Thanks for this one, I love this movie!
I would love to see Star Trek reactions from You. 🖖
Every time you thirst over Salma Hayek, me too. Me too. 🤣
FOR SALMA HAYAK: She was in "From Dusk to Dawn"... She plays an Exotic Dancer.
I mainly love this movie because of how fun it was. I love that there isn’t any structure to it at all.
R.I.P Cameron Boyce
The way I always looked at the grown up movies is that they aren’t SUPPOSED to have a plot, it’s much more enjoyable when u don’t try and piece it all together
3:17 to be onset I totally forgot about that scene 🤣🤣🤣
mello just know once you see someone in an adam sandler movie, 9/10 they’re in atleast another 2 movies with him😂😂😂
Under an hour baby! Whats up Mello?!?!
Them drinking water at the same time was supposed to be an inside joke like after you have sex and drink something
10/10 Monty python usage good sir editor
Saw this movie in theaters with my dad, our guts hurt from laughing when we left, definitely a better movie to watch with a group than solo
25:48 “Hey! What’s up ladies!?” is one of my favorite lines in the movie!! ❤❤
23:51 your editor with the “huh” 😂😂😂😂 same I said
Always loved this movie, I love movies where an actor just takes his friends and they kind of do stuff, lots of jokes back and forth kind of thing. Chemistry is always good when you make shit with your friends
Im pretty sure not all people would be this entertaining if you filmed them
