Except the Chinese government and their cronies hold the guns. So there is no way to win back freedom once lost - in China, Russia, North Korea or any other state with modern surveillance and weaponry. We better make sure this doesn't happen in our countries as it now does in Hungary and Brazil - it's possible to lose the Rule of Law and democracy from of a democracy.

I am an ordinary citizen from Nanjing. Therefore I am closely watching the development of the protest. I can say that I have never seen such a protest that directly demands the resignation of the president and the CCP since they came to power in 1949. The scale of the protest also surpasses my imagination. They are now widely spreading in Nanjing, Shanghai, Beijing, Wuhan, and Chongqing, those biggest cities in China, like the Covid doing. The young generation took a major role in these two days, and their courage deserves my deepest respect, also from many many other normal powerless people. But our voice and power are still way too small. So, I hope the international community could support and voice for those brave people to fight for their freedom in order to make some kind of pressure on the Chinses central government. Thank you very very much!! P.S. I barely comment on any platform. But this time I want to speak out just because I want to help not regret to my conscience.

I lived in China for six years before fleeing the country to escape the Zero Covid policy in June. I know that I will never be able to return to China without facing arrest just for writing this comment online that is critical of the government. Living under the zero covid policy means living in a constant state of anxiety. In Shenzhen, it means being forced to queue for hours every single day to take a PCR test. It means planning to take an overnight bag with you to the grocery store incase you get stuck in a snap lockdown. On one occasion, my wife had food poisoning, the hospital made her wait for hours to see a doctor until a negative covid test came back since she had a fever, despite the fact that she had a covid test less than 24 hours prior. People are fed up, and it's so refreshing to see people in China finally fight for their rights. I hope they can unshackle themselves from the CCP and win their freedom.

I live in China and comment on stuff like this all the time. The CCP doesn’t care for average waiguoren, however, what you say is true. The lockdowns here are insane and I’m so sick of this nonsense. Never having a normal holiday and traveling…. Tests everyday or every few days if you’re in a different city. It’s absurd. I’m glad there are people who will go out and fight for their rights.

They see that China isn't like the west, so they immediately think they want their 'freedom' or Democracy.
It's the same every protest. Thousands of Americans and and Brits on Twitter posting how happy they are that China is finally standing up for itself, as if it's something new,. Then will act like they're proud of them for following the west, something China will never do.

Becuz most of the macro Chinese influencers have been shared the news in Xin Jiong and immediately their account and posts disappeared! They wanted to spread out the truth however, Chinese Gov just kept deleted and filtered the post online. So it is really important that CNN keeps reporting this information!

The first sentence of the Chinese national anthem is "Rise up, people who don't want to be slaved..." Protestors sing the song while they were making protest.

Because the ruling class doesn’t want to give us any ideas. Once everyone here realizes just how large of a portion of our population has been enslaved in for profit prisons under unjust circumstances and how much were actually controlled with manufactured politics, manufactured war, fear, division, and trauma then there’s a chance we will go down a similar path, actually fighting back. It’s the same narrative they’re trying with Iran, Russia, and why they didn’t even really cover protest of India or any of the other 400 active anti-government protests currently happening around the world. There’s a narrative control. These people are making all our stuff in China for the most part. We have a global community and a global economy but they give humans busy work for life just to keep us from rising up against our captivity. Most of us don’t even realize we’re being held against our will. I can’t find a place in the woods to make a go at life starting from scratch. Playing a role in capitalism is required or we’re targets for privately owned prisons as free labor and the police. It makes no sense. Hope that helped 😅

@@montanagal6958 It is more likely that the news outlets lack of personnel in China and lack of familiarity with how things operate relative to many people who have lived in China for a long time means that they have more difficulty covering it than they might otherwise do.

Imagine living in a country where it is illegal to criticize the government. In America, we're free, on both sides of the spectrum, to say how wretched the people we elect are.

I have been wondering how long this would last. Love and support for the Chinese people for being so brave. And just so everyone knows, this is NOT JUST ABOUT COVID. Look at the comments from people who are actually from there -who know, it's about the whole situation, restrictions on freedoms etc. This is not just about Covid!
