He also said she was in a position after reigning in a lot of 3rd party support, that a 3rd party candidate, such as RFK Jr. won't really impact the number of votes she receives.

If RFK's support plummets, and the Democrats unite enthusiastically around Kamala Harris, she should be able to win the Presidency given his key structure.
That's why he hasn't made a prediction yet.
To expand a little bit, if Democrats do something really dumb (I mean, something catastrophic for the administration) in the next 2 months and this turns people off to both parties (those independent voters in the middle who may not like either Trump or Harris), that would give more RFK support. And according to his model, 3rd party support goes against the incumbent.

The problem with the economy isn’t communication it’s understanding. We as Americans don’t understand economics. Sure I’m going to graduate school and I understand economics but most Americans they do not. They see rising prices at stores and they feel worse now than they did before. That’s the short term of it all. Go back 12 months ago. People felt like crap. Go back 12 months before that they felt like crap short term. They were not feeling well but guess what they were doing in the short term spending money. It made no sense. People felt bad about their economic situation were going on vacation. In the past, if you felt bad about your economic situation, you would save you would put money in the bank which would take money out of the economy which of course made people feel bad about the economy long-term. We are just spending money. Ask anybody who speaks finance or economics they won’t tell you we are doing better than expected Better than everyone else someone at the grocery store they’re going to give you a doom and gloom story. Simply because we don’t understand. Sad but true.

the Lichtman-Nate silver beef is one of the greatest of all time in my opinion. I respected both so seeing them go at each other is interesting
Silver is known to the Republicans, they know Democrats have used him as a goto source on polling. So they fund polls that are outliers and Nate says "Oh there is a poll! I am going average it in and apply my statistical adjustment..." And he misses.
@@rtqii However, here's the deal: Silver's polling averages are consistently more D-leaning than, say, RCPs because he adjusts for R leaning polls partisan bias. In R wave years this causes his predictions, in theory, to be farther from the actual results. So, if Rs were using cheap polls to flood the field (I definitely think there is evidence of that), Silver wouldn't be the primary target. Averages like those of RCP are, and Silver has criticized them a bit for this too.
point is, I don't buy that narrative cause Silver adequately adjusts for polls partisan biases. Also, one can argue that MSM polls (those by NYT, CNN for example) are similarly leaning D and used as their propaganda...

They aren't just subjectively assigned. I highly recommend watching a video where explains why he assigns each key the way he does.

Statistical econometric analysis correctly shows the economy could be heading to a recession next year. I think his keys do have good predictive value, all the keys. But incorrectly assigning values to the keys will lead to erroneous conclusions. The two economy keys are wrongly assigned. The economy is NOT well at all.

The one time Alan Lichtman's prediction arguably missed was the 2000 election - the one decided with the supreme court ruling. That same danger exits this year as well. He needs to update his system to account for court shennanigans.
His prediction would’ve been correct if Al Gore didn’t concede. Gore would’ve won.
He did update his prediction methodology, he now goes off electoral college vote instead of the popular vote which is how he successfully predicted the 2016 election.
