Hey, I feel like I didn't get across the core message of this video as well as I wanted to - which is really: There is no one purpose that you have in life. Life is just a big old bunch of different experiences. Don't feel like you NEED to find the ONE AND ONLY thing that you were made to do, because that's a total fallacy and you'll never be happy if you live that way. Just keep on doing you, making decisions, pursuing what you're interested in and trying to live a life you dig - that's what I'm doing right along with you xoxo Love you lots xoxo

omg haha kinda late (which is weird cause I'm on the notification squad) but I always have your video's running on auto-play to stay motivated when taking down big tasks, and so I was cleaning my room when all of the sudden I heard you talking about the Myers Briggs test and I flipped my shit cause I always wondered what type you would be so I immediately sprinted to my computer to check if you had your type somewhere in the comments 😂 you're UNmistakably an infj! totally makes sense! I quit my job almost six months ago. I was lucky enough to have the resources to take my time and just spend a few months willingly jobless and finding myself. I've gotten randomly into flexibility (I almost have my splits!), dancing, violin, and minimalism. Now I am actually restarting my old business, but this time it is all official with business cards, flyers, and a website! Big life changes for this self employed dog walker :)

FangirlFiles that is very cool that you walked this path. I quit my job 3 months ago and I also have savings to take my time. But I keep getting nervous about that money slowly dwindling away. It’s ridiculous, because I cannot prosper in such a mindset, I understand it myself.
How did you keep those thought out? Or maybe you didn’t have them?

Thank you so much for this video. I'm 43 yrs old. When I was 19 I did a food service traineeship only to find it held no weight in the world of cooking & so I still had to find an apprenticeship at 20, which I couldn't so I worked as a kitchenhand hating it. Then struggled with addictions for a few years, not functioning enough to hold down a job, until I met my husband, got married & had kids. We only lasted 6 yrs & it's been 10 yrs since then I've been bringing up our kids totally on my own. Now they are teens I am so lost. I don't want to be a chef anymore & would love to learn makeup artistry but the start up costs are pretty big. I'm so freakin lost. I'll head over to the sites you've suggested, as well as take on your other advice & see where this leads me. Cheers xo

This video was so helpful to me - I go through periods of being sure about who I am and what I want to do with my life at this point in it, and then randomly I start to doubt myself and start thinking I'm just kidding myself and I should do what others are expecting of me. I'm always trying to learn new things and explore new possibilities, and I'm always finding new interests & skills. So this video really reassured me that I''m okay and there's nothing wrong with the path that I'm on. Thanks for the wisdom! x

My whole life I have been afraid of bees, as are most people. But when my high school adopted beehives, I decided to just try to push my boundaries and go to the club meeting where we harvested honey. Honestly that one decision has now shaped my life, I published an article on beekeeping, I am now in college for Ecology and Conservation, plan on a 3 year paid beekeeping internship, and even have a honey bee tattoo! I went into the bee yard terrified, but I left with an entirely changed perspective. If you feel stuck, just try SOMETHING, even something you are scared of!! :) LOVE this channel and best of luck to everyone!!

i think you hit the nail on the head; some people think that an answer will drop from heaven to what job or career they should be doing. They take a year off and nothing happens. The only way to find some kind of path is to learn new things and topics and take on courses, education or job opportunities and that will lead to something. It may not be perfect but it opens doors for you to land somewhere that could enjoy plus you gain experience from it.

Hey Muchelle! This is such a great Video! very much needed! I also want to mention something else to the point of learn new things: the more languages I learn(speaking 3 more or less fluently by now, starting Spanish in a few weeks), the more perspectives I have on the world! In one of the linguistic classes in Uni, I've learned that there were Linguists who thought this way but the theory was denied pretty fast but for me personally it couldn't be more true! The more languages I learn, the more I learn about how other nationalities see the world and it def gives you new perspectives! lots and lots of love from Germany💓❤💓

Thank you so much for this video. I am 28 years old and feel like I've been stuck in life for years now. I could never figure out what it really is I want to do with life. Over the past year or so, I've started working on myself - trying to become a better, healthier and more positive person. Now that I feel like I know myself better and love myself more, the next step is to figure out what to do with my life and I will definitely try out some of your tips! I'll probably create a mind map of who I am, where my interest lie and what different things I could try out doing to figure everything out.

I feel like not a lot of things interest me, and those which do are not "career worthy" or actually pursuable : writing, blogging (www.canvasofthoughts.wordpress.com if you're interested !) , taking pictures, creating recipes, minimalism ... :(

Gloriana Elizondo So true! What I also find difficult, is that I'm often alone with my ideas, and need of exploration...as others often make other things ( studying or passive rest) a priority. Which is not wrong of them...it is just that I am the type of person who would like to share experiences with people. That is what gives me the most joy. But I just find myself alone. Totally agree with the do a work placement!
My husband was in and out of really crappy jobs and I mean really crappy jobs that barely payed anything (and it didn't help that he was one of those naughty boys in school) but he was offered a work placement as an admin for a charity and it really gave him some skills and a really big footprint into the admin job life. His work placement had ran it's course for 2 years and the charity didn't have enough money to be able to take him on but they did know a company that was willing to take him on for the 'next level' in admin as an aprentaship. He has just been there for just under a year and he has already climbed to the top of the ladder (next step is actually the boss). His boss also payed for driving lessons and the test fee, and is putting him through a course so he can gain his SIA badge for security. He has also said that if he doesn't know what he would do without him.

    • @muchelleb

Ahhh this is so awesome! I know it's such an average suggestion, but I can honestly say that doing a traineeship was one of the best things I could have done for myself just to develop my skills and knowledge, and I've worked my way up by showing innovation in the workplace. I've done better for myself than I would have done if I went straight to uni.

I have spent many years moving sideways... I started wanting to be a child speech therapist but the course fell through, so I took a gap year to figure shit out. Ended up working in a play centre whilst I was volunteering at youth centres etc. This led to an opportunity to apply for a youth service job, which I got. Worked that for a couple of years until government cutbacks meant we all had to re-think what we were doing, so I ended up in retail for a while before I came across a healthcare assistant role in mental health.
I did that for a couple of years but wanted to move up, so I applied for a nursing placement as I wanted to do wound care after seeing a district nurse patch up some serious self harm wounds... I got the placement but a couple of months in it wasn't working (trying to work full time to pay the bills whilst doing a full time nursing degree didn't fit) so I dropped out... went back to the drawing board...
Floated around in retail, then worked as a waitress, then did admin/stock management for a while... decided I wanted to still do something to help people and I came across project management/fundraiser roles working for a charity or non-profit. I was getting in touch with some old contacts for references, including my old youth service boss. He no longer worked in youth services either and was interested in what jobs I was going for.
I explained my situation and history, and he invited me for an interview as he ran a PR company with his wife. I started working as a bookkeeper but expanded my skillset so that I'm now writing a lot more. 2 years and 7 months later I'm handing over the bookkeeping so I can now focus more on writing and social media, as well as working with a fab team who believe in doing lots of work with charities for fun!
In my free time, I do a lot of 'playing' with new skills, such as aerial classes, adult cycling classes, yoga, running clubs, circuits, foraging, baking, martial arts, MMA, reading, hiking... Stay forever curious, you never know where it may lead or who you may meet along the way!

Amazing video :) I'm currently working on my master's thesis and will be graduated soon in International Relations. I can't get an internship, and I keep sending resumes but I'm not sure what I want to do exactly because I lack experience, I'm young (23), and I feel like it's not exactly what I want to work in (it's also very difficult to get in this work field because you have to pass exams or you'll get an expert/analyst/writer position after a minimum of 5-10 years of professional experience...it's also kind of rare in France to work strictly in IR, it's usually linked with economics or law professions, which I don't have a formation in!). I finished school lectures two months ago and I manage to keep busy but I now I have to find a job after presenting my thesis in October because my parents won't be able to pay for my apartment and sustain my lifestyle for ever... In fact, I feel like I'm not bored because I do what I like right now without any responsibilities (except my master's thesis to write but it's not due until September) : I work out, travel, write, shop and I feel like I'd love to somehow turn that into a work but I don't know how and I feel like it's impossible (one of my childhood dream has always been to be a writer for instance, but I keep trying to write things and can't finish them, except my blog posts, because I don't have inspiration, or I feel like what I write is bad). It's also very hard to decide whether or not I want to work in the field of international relations, because it's what I thought I wanted to do since I was in high school, and it's the only thing I know. I have no real knowledge in economic or law, and absolutely none in marketing and things considered "useful" today. However I'm sick of being in school to be honest even though I'm 23, I was in a double degree course that allowed me to have a master's degree in IR + a bachelor from a UK university. I like to learn (I'm trying to be consistent with my MOOCs and my duolinguo practice to learn Russian, as you can see, I like challenges !) but I also want to get started with life if that makes sense. But back to my blog for instance, I've had it for almost a year and a half and even though I get really amazing feedback, it still has not "moved forward" despite me trying to collaborate with other bloggers and have a FB page etc.. My point is, I have wishes that I feel cannot be fulfilled even though I'm taking time and working on it. Anyway, I wanted to write a short comment to say I love those kind of videos because of my situation, and here I am, rambling ! Sorry ! But any tips, any support is welcome ! :') By the way, if you, who are reading this very, very long comment, want to check my blog: www.canvasofthoughts.wordpress.com :) Have a nice day !

I've been trying to find a job ..looking online and locally..and it's so hard to find a job or internships for teens. I'm 17 and I just want to do something for this summer! maybe make some money but all the job finding sites you need money to pay for..or have to be 18 to sign up. 😫 it's so discouraging

Adriana Carvalho I am right there with you. I'm in the states, but I feel like I wasted 4 years and $35k on a degree I hate now. It's depressing. BUT I'm trying to teach myself graphic design and social media management so I can become a web designer or freelance consultant!
