Putting it Delicately (Ace Attorney Animation)[Paula Peroff]
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 вер 2021
- Can you believe this is a real line Edgeworth says in an actual Ace Attorney game? He legitimately says this to Phoenix in Bridge to the Turnabout, I remember reading it and just thinking like..... what is wrong with you lol
Beautifully animated (A while ago) by Paula Peroff!

You're not crazy if you think you've seen this before! This animation is the better part of a year old, and has been officially posted on other social media for that same length of time, as well as unofficially posted to UA-cam.
Paula and I recently decided to use my channel for the UA-cam mirrors of our collaborative projects, so some unofficial reuploads of her content have been removed. This is the official spot. :)
Bruh I saw the original version of this when it was posted on UA-cam it was hilarious

The greatest comedy duo
the animation is so damn smooth! jesus christ.
My headcanon is that Edgeworth understands that saying it bluntly would be insensitive, but being raised by von Karma means he has no clue what tact actually looks like, so he just kinda says it as obliquely as he can and hopes for the best
I headcannon on top of that the reason he knows saying it bluntly is bad because he was told "your dad was shot by a man we don't know and nobody was punished for it" and after that Manfred later took him to Germany so I headcannon that he also would know german
This. Like, it's fun remembering that he was raised by Karma when analyzing some of his behaviors
He's trying to be so considerate but he's just so socially unaware and awkward
@@EduardoPerez-py8dx If by fun you mean heartbreaking
@@junkoenoshima2756 Manfred taking him to Germany is neither stated nor implied anywhere in canon, and AAI2 appears to rule out the possibility entirely. In fact, nowhere in the game dialogue is it even said that he was *raised* by von Karma (though the anime depicts this as having been the case).
Absolutely love how they actually cut each other off, its a small detail but it makes their dispute so much more realistic
No literally it kills me every time Phoenix cuts him off then “metabolic,, processes-“ “Wright shut the fuck up🤨”
@@strawberryboymyg2503

Arguing like an old...pair of friends.
It's a delicate balance to strike. Real life conversations involve people cutting each other off all the time; by accident or not, so characters speaking over reach other makes it feel more realistic. But then you have some animations where characters are constantly talking over each other and it ends up sounding poorly scripted rather than authentic.
poo
Edgeworth calling Phoenix a "fucking asshole" under his breath got me.
i didnt even notice that, when i did i died

I literally can't believe this line actually exists in the real game....

I mean, this is very fitting when you get into the later games, like Dual Destinies, where there's a point that Edgeworth just knit-picks literally EVERY detail of Wright's argument to the point where Phoenix outright yells out "Why do you ALWAYS have to POINT OUT EVERY FLAW?!" If Phoenix is always knit-picking Edgeworth, it makes sense that he'd do the same.
I guess he decided to take a leaf out of Wright's book after witnessing his excessive successes. Turns out, Nick-picking is very effective ;)
Can’t forget my favorite interaction in there, being
“Don’t tell me your eye for art is failing you, too, Edgeworth.”
“You’re the last person in the world who should be criticizing my aesthetic sense!”
“Now, now he is simply watching out for your ocular health. Please proceed Mr. Wright.”
[Insert random spoilers]
“Hmph. Is that the theory your pitiful sense of aesthetics helped you come up with?”
“(Edgeworth… Just let it go, man.)”
Not to nitpick, but the word is nitpick, referring to the painstaking process of removing nits, or louse egg sacs, from hair. They are tiny and easy to miss, but just one nit left unpicked can cause a resurgence of lice. It has naught to do with knitting.
@@TheOverlordPepper imagine he said "let it go" aloud, and edgeworth just goes, "no, no, since YOU brought it up"
@@sambradley9091 Pfft I can definitely imagine that happening, I love their little interactions
I guess you could say Phoenix was Nick-picking everything Edgeworth was saying

For some reason, the idea of Edgeworth losing his cool and saying "Wright, shut the fuck up" is pretty dang great.
It feels like something he would do
Considering he was raised by Karma, and attempting to be posh only to get irritated and tell someone to "shut the fuck up" (but prolly in German) also sounds like something Karma would do
Jeez phoenix! Edgeworth was just trying to lighten up the mood.
He failed miserably, but he was still trying.
Yeah, both of them were quite shooken up before this.
He was getting a bit crushed under the cave- I mean pressure
Jeez, Nick, dont be so mean, he only tried to lift your spirit!
Honestly, he was just trying to shake things up
I don’t know, please explain
Wait nvm I watched the rest of his Ace Attorney animations

I love when people give Edgeworth an American accent that just sounds super posh, rather than a British accent. Also, I keep forgetting that you voice both of them! They're super distinct!
I mean doesn’t this all take place in America?
I mean America as seen through the eyes of a crazy Japanese man but America nonetheless. Them having no distinct accent makes sense in universe.
@@AnimatedTerror the original seting of the trilogy was in japan, but the localization team made it in the us in the english versions.
@@AnimatedTerror Western fans have coined the world Japanafornia. And in the English localisation, since Von Karma is German, Edgeworth having a European accent does make sense. I love this version's voice though.
I see what you mean. IMO, I like it and prefer it this way.
A true Brit accent would actually take a lot of people out of the game. When I have hard time understanding an accent due to local dialects and slang, I'm no longer immersed.
Immersion doesn't always mean the most genuine accent.

Wright's sassy open-hand at 0:12 absolutely makes this video
I mean he literally says she's dead as bluntly as possible in the line immediately preceding this one
And the "metabolic processes are a matter of interest only to historians" was a response to Phoenix effectively saying "What do you mean, dead?", presumably with deep sardonicism
I thought this, too. Like, the music stopped when he said "Dahlia Hawthorne is dead." I didn't even remember this line, yet they're playing it like it's how he first broke the news.
Yeah, but it's they're just having a little fun out of the wierd uniqueness of the line. All in fun...
"Well let's just say your idea of delicate is a matter of interest only to mental physicians"
-Phoenix Wright, the man who defeated all Edgeworth, Von Karma, Damon Gant at a metal game and conned many witnesses
A Phoenix who is sassy out loud instead of just in his head is a hero I didn’t know I needed to see.
Man these animations are great so glad I found this especially since I’m a fan of Phoenix Wright
I can see that they’re really good friends
-They argue at each other but still come back to do it again. True friendship, XD.-
“Why do I even bother coming back for you”
Silly edgeworth, because you love him
@Miguel CChaach It’s the latter.
@Miguel CChaach Not a letter, the latter. Meaning the last thing you said, fandom shipping issues.
But it’s also not the latter? It has to be the former at this point have you SEEN in-game interactions and the official merchandise? Dude if there’s one thing both of them aren’t, it’s straight
@Miguel CChaach I never said that Capcom would make it canon, because it would give them a ton of backlash. It would be a very risky move. It’s just the things in game that make it at least somewhat canon. Phoenix changed his CAREER to go find this man. Law school is a hellhole. It’s also not fandom shipping issues, as their relationship isn’t crazy toxic or weird. They have known each other for years and clearly have trust in each other. The wedding rings that were Phoenix and Edgeworth themed just sealed the deal for me. As well as some of the official art. I respect your opinion if you don’t ship them.
@Miguel CChaach ah shit man, it deleted my reply. I’ll just rewrite it
This was a great animation! I just love Edgeworth cursing Wright under his breath as he walks away!
Apollo/Athena: “They fight a lot.”
Maya: “Nah. They just love each other a lot.”
As OOC as it is, I love Nick backsassing in these animations.
Nick backsassing is completely canon behavior
@@LovelessYayaoi Usually Nick keeps his sass in his head, actually vocalizing it isn't something he usual does
Is it OOC tho?
Most of Nick's internal monologue is at least 60% sarcasm and sass. It's less than the segments where you play as Edgeworth but it's definitely still there.
@@rebellemuria the ooc part is phoenix not keeping it was internal monologue
Nick's thoughts are surprisingly cynical from time to time
Love how subtitles guy had the care and consideration to avoid the clear, blatants swears in the animation, while still keeping the dialogue consistent. Good for you, subtitles guy! Your work is very appreciated :)
Okay, but in all seriousness, your Edgeworth voice is actually really good (your Phoenix voice, too, but especially your Edgeworth).
I love how the last line Edgeworth mutters as he's walking away perfectly sums up the entire ace attorney franchise.
Edgeworth: Tries to put it delicately
Also Edgeworth: Swears at Wright to shut him up
A true gentleman is always delicate to ladies. And, it seems, to ladies only.
I cannot express how much I love the animation!!!
Wright: "So instead of being blunt and telling me the truth, you chose to be 'delicate'?"
Edgeworth: "Wright, shut the fuck up"
Wow, doesn't take much to make him snap out of character
I love the animated body language. You could figure out the the tone of the conversation from that alone.
Thre were a Thousand different ways to say "She died"
and Edgeworth decides on choosing the worst one-
Wright has every right to say that comment-
Small correction: Wright had every wright to say that comment
@@junkoenoshima2756 *now listen here you little shit-*
Idk, when I die I want people to say it that way
You'll have to speak through medium, she's gone and we're left, she kicked the bucket, her heartbeat is heart-beaten - anyone writing these down?
What does that line mean?
I love how he calls him Nick under his breath not Wright not Phoenix just Nick
I think he's saying "nitpicking my every word"
Now that I think about this my comment is very ironic
He said nit picking my guy
Guess I just heard it wrong.
The fact that, apparently, this was a line in the original game makes me think SOMEONE on the Phoenix Wright dev team was a Monty Python fan.
She's a stiff, bereft of life, she rests in peace, if she wasn't murdered she'd be pushing up the daises. She's off the twig, she's kicked the bucket, she's shuffled off the mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleeding choir invisible. This is an ex-person!
She’s not dead. She’s pining for the fjords!
The way Edgeworth mutters in the end is the best part of this whole video XD
I love the newer one more, but there's something more hilarious to me with the original line:
"and instead of that, you opted to say..." 😂
I love Edgeworth's voice here.
I love that Edgeworth does this to avoid saying "she died", trying to be delicate about it, but then bluntly says she was -executed- immediately afterwards. 😅
This is good content
garcello your metabolic processes are a matter of interest only to historians or so to speak
he died
Edgeworth:
her metabolic processes are a matter of interest only to historians so to speak...
Wright: English?
These AA animations are so good. I could legit watch like a 30 minute cartoon 12 episode per series, 29 season run of them.
Old Authors vs. Modern Authors
"Shut tf up I got paid by the word, you know!"
"Wright, shut the fuck up. I was trying to be delicate."

I absolutely LOVE these and cannot get enough of them. The animation, the line delivery, the depiction of these characters... it's all so PERFECT!!!!
I am really digging this style. So smooth!
"Wright shut the fuck up." Is the best thing ever. That is totally something that needed to be said.
I just finished playing this case, and knowing who they're talking about makes it way funnier to me
This guy has to get more recognition, his animations are amazing
"This guy" provides all the character voices. The animation is by Paula Peroff, start to finish. It's a good collaboration.
More animations of Ace Attorney please, these are hilarious keep up the good work!😂
To clarify, this person voiced and wrote the dialogue, but Paula Peroff animated it! The description explains this. Sorry if I sound rude, just making sure credit goes to the right people! 👍🏾

This so concisely shows both of their personalities. While Edgeworth is more posh and Wright is an American, they're both similarly intelligent and socially aware
The way Edgeworth says "WRIGHT SHUT THE FUCK UP" just fucking sends me. He's so done with his bullshit.
You *know* why you came back, Edgeworth. You can't get negging of this quality anywhere else.
Shhhhh, enjoy his beautiful language, Wright

Wow I never realised there were so many ways to say dead
Edgeworth is the only character who could bust out a Monty Python reference at a totally inappropriate time
Good god, that art style works so PERFECTLY with this franchise!
"her metabolic processes are a matter of intrest only to hnistorians, so to speak."
"she died."
phenoix wreight.
I would love to make a TV show one day with an animation like this.
They have such a great friendship.
"asshole nitpicking my every word" it's almost like he's a lawyer or something
The animation is so good!
Edgeworth: I was trying to be delicate, alright? This is a woman you dated.
Wright: And Manfred Von Karma was a man who taught you.
Edgeworth: ...Alright, I concede the point.
Phoenix:this is for throwing the book at me
I only just started playing Ace Attorney myself and now I can't wait to get to that chapter
Honestly, I enjoy this version more than the remake several months later. While Wright in the remake is a little more character accurate, he’s more snarky in this one, which makes it all the more hilarious.
Also, they aren’t wearing coats. They’re definitely catching colds.
Edgeworth's grumbling has me beside myself laughing. Like, he sounds do done with Nick's sh!t, grumbling something along the lines of, "Why do I even bother--"
Animations and voice work is *chefs kiss*
Even from behind, we can see that Paula neck-squish. 0:12
This is amazing! Gorgeous animation and spot on voice acting ✨
And here is Wright again, messing with Edgeworth's words being a complete dick towards him when Edgeworth was trying to console him about his girlfriends death. I know Dahlia's evil, but losing somebody that close probably broke his heart.
I mean it was reversed by the reveal that Iris was the one he was going on dates with and that he only really met up with Daliha twice (I think?) but still
@@AyrisX86 Yeah, hence "...have you met me before?" Iris: "No" (5 Psyche-Locks)
Edgeworth: Acts stuffy and stoic around everyone. So stuffy that people have trouble believing that he is a fan of a children's show despite not really trying to hide it at all.
Also Edgeworth: Attempts to delicately convey the news of someone's death by quoting Saturday Night Live.
i love how accurate phoenix's expressions are 😭 he looks so heckin done its killing me
Edgeworth said “shut the fuck up” and it didn’t sound weird or off-putting at all. That’s really impressive!
She's no more! She's ceased to be! She's expired, and gone to meet her maker!
I darn love these
Even the most blunt wording is probably no where near faking his death in terms of lack of tact
I like to believe that the reference is in universe, and Edgeworth just doesn't realize that telling someone that someone else died is not the appropriate time for a Monty Python reference
😂 aw man, everyone has their style to being delicate.
love the way they cut off mid talk, very realistic 👌
I like it how he said that Dahlia has died, but then pulls this off anyway
The “Wright shut the f up I was trying to be sensitive” is a mood. How many times have we tried to take into our friends emotions into account for it to backfire and then just get mad at them and make it worse.
From what little I know about the Ace Attorny series, this seems about (w)right
The thing is that Edgeworth’s line is a DIRECT quote of a Monty Python skit about a dead parrot, which only makes what he said even more insensitive
god theyre so fucking in love
