I was drunk, and I walked into a shop to buy some headphones.
I wasn't intending to spend to much money.
350 pounds later, I'm standing outside the shop with a bag in my hand, thinking, what have I just done.
Three months later, and I have to admit they where worth every penny,
I use them all the time.
My Brother bought me a year's subscription to Spotify.

I have both the Sony WH-1000XM4's and the Bose NC700's. They're both amazing. If you get Sony's, learn how to reset them. I had a high pitched squeal in the left ear after about 10 months of use, but resetting them fixed it. The Sony's have more options, but the bose have better noise cancellation. I like the metal band on the bose vs the plastic on the Sony's. I also think the bose are more comfortable, but i wear glasses and the Sony's have more pressure where my glasses frames go around my ears.

I have the high pitched squeal on the xm4 headphones too but resetting it didn't work. It's now at the Sony repair centre and they're charging me a bomb to repair them since they're out of warranty.

Would you recommend the Bose 700 over the Sony XM4s because of your situation? Also, if one is in the market for headphones that feature good noise cancellation and good microphone/call quality, which would you recommend, then Sony XM4s or the Bose 700?

    Two words: Call mics.
The NC 700's mics isolate your voice in noisy environments so much better than the competition that there is no comparison. That's why they are the best for calls next to noisy things like old air conditioners.
I agree with most others that Sony's XM5 (and earlier models) have nicer sound, but I can't use them as daily drivers in the noisy environment I work in.

I have it for a year now. For traveling it is perfect. The Noise cancelling is effective. The problem is, these headphones have no different earpad replacement option at all. I ve searched for months now. Bose used an earpad adabter which deleted the option of using different materials since they dont offer any. Im willing to sacrife the noise cancelling for more comfort. I generally dislike any earphone wired or wireless that has fake or real leather. This material makes you sweat and it is very uncomfortable after long hours of usage. On top of that the original earpad replacements on their website are totaly overprices going for close to 40 euros ?

    I watch this video....
    1) The presentation was excellent (thank you) and I see that the idea is you are trying and doing a decent job as non bias.
    2) The subject was in layman's terms.
    3) I have the Sony WH-1000XM4 head phones and love them and I know the good, the bad and the ugly. Yet for the sony there is little ugly. I like the bass of the head phones however I have Audeze head phones with a head phone DAC / amp. Of course the sony cannot be compared to wired head phones that are truly audiophile quality. That said they do very well.
I will receive the Bose 700 soon to compare. The Bose are from 2019 but the price I am getting in Thailand for the original Bose head phones is so low it is nuts. I will know in a few days if I am shipped original, refurbished or fake head phones. Thank you.

Well .. got it on Saturday and used it all evening. Fits perfectly on my somewhat larger ears ( Was afraid of the cups being to small ). They fixed the app too ! No detection or connection issues so far. Did a couple of test calls with friends. When using the ANC my voice was dampened a bit but still fine. With ANC off the mic works good. Maybe not as crisp as for instance a Jabra or Plantronics headset but then there is no foldable mic ( Wanted a headset without foldable mic ). Taking this puppy to work tomorrow so it will be field tested then. Very comfortable to wear since the radius is larger then the Jabra Evolve2 65 I had before (These are over ear did not like it and did not fit my head resulting in the over ear cups not covering my ears and too tight on my head ). Adjusting the size is smooth and easy on this one. Love the gestures for Volume and skipping tracks. Work perfect with Siri too. Overall very pleased. Don't mind the mic not working when charging. 20 hours battery life is more then enough for my day. Will comment again tomorrow to let you guys know how the mic function in the 'field' .

These have been my only headphones for over a year now. I'm very happy with them. I can wear them for hours at a time on my big dumb head/ears.
Two things that have bothered me, but wouldn't dissuade me from buying again:
    1. The mobile app doesn't have a way to set device priority. I have lots of devices that I pair my headphones with. I'd love to be able to set priorities so that I don't have to manually pop open the app and change the devices I'm connected to.
    2. After more than a year, I had to purchase replacement ear pads. The right gauze cover is ripped out and the pads are flaking/peeling. After wearing them for awhile, I'll often come away with black particles as more of the pad deteriorates. That said, I'm willing to give bose a pass on this because replacements are reasonably priced and I use these A LOT.

Basically sony's better for short periods of time and bose better for long use.

An unfortunate surprise I got when I bought them, and something not a lot of people seem to mention, is that they work very badly on your PC... sometimes people can't hear my voice on Teams or the notification on my phone pause my music on the pc, you have to switch manually between stereo and mic mode, because mic mode is mono and sounds pretty bad, Also none of the buttons on the headset except the volume and the bluetooth one work on pc (No assistant, no mute, no taking/leaving calls, no noise cancelation settings...). The connection from the laptop is lost constantly too.
I realize there is a bose usb dongle you can get for this headset, but it is not available in Spain :')
So I had to import it from the US paying 30$ shipping and I'm still waiting on it... let's see if these problems are solved with it (My hopes are way up)

  • @antonxtr

Very good review, super sleek, straight to the point. I am surprised you have so few subs and views. I hope you will get more soon.
I also came here because Bose 700 are on sale during Amazon Prime Day. I have been using QC35ii for many years now. Love them and wear many hours every day. However, I experienced quality control issues with Bose before. I bought a replacement QC35ii because the battery in mine degraded and needed replacement. My new QC35 immediately had two issues: worse sound quality (I'd call it "dull") and poor Bluetooth: they skipped when the phone was in my jeans pocket, which my old QC35 never did.
So, what I did then was I swapped the batteries between the new and the old headphones. This is not a beginner DIY project because the batter is soldered and glued, so it is quite possible to break the headphones while doing batter replacement. Bose does not offer battery replacement. You must throw away your headphones if the battery dies, which is very sad because the batter tends to degrade in maybe a year or two. Anyways, I returned the new QC35 with the old battery, and my old faithful QC35 have been a few more years with me without any issues.

Have you had any problems with the glide of the band over the back of the cups on the Bose 700s? One side of mine glides easily, but the other has always been super sticky. I can't seem to figure out if/how to make this better. I don't want to apply any sort of lubricant if it will damage the material. Then it started to do a loud buzz then drop connection and go into a boot loop. I sent them back and they sent me a new pair that did the same thing within a month. If you're in the business of wireless ANC in the future if your Bose unfortunately breaks, I would likely steer in the direction of Beyerdynamic Lagoon ANCs or something like the Sennie HD 450BT.. Should at the very least last a bit longer.

Question: This November/2021 I bought my pair at COSTCO when I saw they had a 'charging carrying case'. However, I find no info on that particular aspect (charging headphones while they're inside of the case) on the BOSE web site, UA-cam or anywhere else, for that matter. The case looks just like yours, but it also has an area on the OUTSIDE OF THE CASE where you can plug in the cord you'd normally be attaching directly on to the headphones, when charging. (There are also 4 tiny white lights next to it) I can only assume the headphones get charged while inside the case, but via Bluetooth🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️.....don't laugh, cause I'm just guessing at this point. I tried charging them last night in that manner but received an audio msg saying 'recharge now'....so apparently they had not gotten charged. WTF. So, I ended up charging them the usual way, via a plugged in cord. Anybody familiar with what I am referring to ?

    • @chocolateer
      @chocolateer 2 роки тому +2

I found someone confirming on Reddit that the charging case does not do wireless charging of the headphones - it is essentially just a battery pack, and once you've charged the battery inside the case, you can then plug the headphones in to the case battery to recharge them.

Was this video made while the Bose Music app was out? I ask because the equalizer in the app allows you to tune bass, mid, treble and is a nice feature. I’ve been using AirPods Pro for a long but synced my wife’s 700s because of a trip I have oversees coming up and opted to take her 700s with the 2.5 to 3.5 cable so I can use for the TVs on the plane.

Please read before buying nc 700. The bluetooth multi point on this is absolutely broken. If you plan to use it with only one device..go ahead..but if you want it to connect to 2 and auto switch, do NOT get this. I have had so much..i mean feel like throwing them at the floor.. that much level of frustration with these getting disconnected from my phone in the middle of a call.. and failing to reconnect. If you don't believe me..look it up in the bose forums and the r/bose subreddit. The bluetooth firmware on these are utter crap.. and they refuse to fix it.

The Bose 700 is still a great choice, but Bose has also announced the new QC45's, which I've pre-ordered and will be dropping the review in mid-October! Don't have much experience with the Airpods Max, but I don't think you can go wrong with that one as well. I've seen/heard great things about it.

neither the mx4 nor the nc700 sound good at all for that money. They do pack some features, but I'd say they sound more like 150 dollar headphones at best with all that bass. Just look at the frequency response graphs. Even after corrective EQ the general sound quality does not match the price you pay for these.

Been using the qc lineup for quite some time now since the qc25 to the qc35 then the nc700!
I tried the sonys but to brassy for an audiophile!
The only complain I have it the quality of the cushions! They feel amazing for a while and then starts to peel and the glued seems open as they are not stitch! But I get that it’s a common problem on all headphones due to sweat and over use!
But hey for a 300+ headphone at least offer cushion for a fair price, 35$ for the pair is a bit to much imo! Avoid third party cushions, you may loose a lot a ANC
