I love this bike. Mine is a 2015 model. Over time, I made some performance and safety modes to cater my needs. I've changed the handlebars to protaper fuzion handle bar and risers, installed some barkbuster full on handguards, upgraded to 18/21 rims and slapped them with shinko 705s, changed the chain to 520 and sprockets 13T front, 40T rear. Installed some skid plates, crash guards and fork guards. Changed all.lights to LED. Upgraded the stator, intergrated all accessory switches in one handleswitch, intalled mini-driving lights and loudhorns. Overall, this thing is ready for emergency or be a bugout bike. Install some GPS, tank bags, saddle bags and some light survival essentials, then you can disappear and regroup away from chaos.
Thanks for the way you review this bike! So many reviews of motorcycles complain about what a bike can't do instead of focusing on what the bike actually is and what it capabilities are. Very well said ..."understand and appreciate what you are buying".
@@dontpanic4295 My mom bought one and doesn't like it much. She's giving it to me with the rest of payments, which were basically nothing as is and I love it. I'm a liter bike guy and these little things are a blast. Gonna just pay the rest of it off immediately and keep it forever. Seems like a venerable replacement for my trail 110. Ironically, she replaced it with the new Trail 125 already. I agree, go get one if it's in your budget. Easy to work on too.
well i had a sr 400 and then i had a stroke so 7 years later i want that bike because my right hand is still not great and i am thinking i can handle that unit.thank you for that review!
Just hit 172 miles on the first tank when the bike abruptly died as it ran out of gas, no warning, but I was pegged on a busy 3-mile long bridge in traffic.Pucker factor was high. Switched to reserve on the shoulder and it started after some reluctance. Definitely my only negative experience in the first couple hundred miles. Was used to my KLR sputtering to give me a heads up to throw the petcock over; no such warning on the XR. So from now on, I will fill up around 160 and just avoid the issue. Overall, a fun and capable little beast. Handles like a dream w/great stock tires.
A similar thing happened to me at around 200 miles, but I did have warning in terms of sputtering/hesitation. Wasn't sure what was going on, but reaching down and switching to reserve was the only move I could think of in that situation. Luckily, gas turned out to be the issue. I realized afterward that I was an ass to ASSume the dealer had topped off the 2.8 gallon tank. I did, and I will report back with my mpg when I fill it again. I will not ASSume again that I have at least 250 miles given Honda's claim of 124 mpg and a 2.8 gallon tank! BTW, I sold cars for a huge, high volume dealer back in the early 90's, and we always gave the customers a full tank with their purchase. I think it's a good, cheap practice that helps create happy customers and repeat business and referrals. UPDATE: I have since come to learn that the reserve on the xr150l is .9 gallons! That means you have 1.9 to 2.0 gallons to consume before needing to switch to reserve. You should be able to make 175 to 200 before needing to switch to reserve for another 75+. I may have been an ASS once again to ASSume the dealer didn't completely fill the tank. I was just lame and started riding before really getting to know the bike. Just glad I didn't end up "stranding" myself only to find out later that I had 100 miles or so of reserve.
@@MichaelWhite-cx4holikely your mileage will improve a little too, after you hit about 500 miles or so. Break-in mileage always seems a little lower than actual mileage after that’s done.
I also have a black one. I have had 150cc bikes in the past, so was well aware of what performance is like. I can cruise along at 45-50 mph comfortably, and run 55-60, if I have to keep up with traffic. I live in rural Iowa and have lots of county blacktop roads and gravel to ride. SxS and 4 wheelers are highway legal here, if the have lights. They have a 35mph speed limit, so I am not the slowest person on the back roads. I usually fill up about 150 miles and put in less than 2 gallons. Really fun to ride on gravel. Great review!
I'm over in council bluffs and have a similar experience with it. Bike tops out around 60 and get roughly 150 miles before it hits the reserve. I believe most of the claims on 350 miles per tank or 70 mph are from owners at lower elevation.
Well done assessment! No nonsense, not making it sound like it's something it isn't. I subscribed just to get your 300LS comparison. I'm an old geezer who's owned 100 to 600 cc Hondas for 50 years and my 300 Rally is feeling tall and heavy these days.
Had one for few years, 54 000 kms on everytype of roads, dirt, windy, mountain pass and green lanes, i did jump it few times... This little Honda is a gem, it ride solid and is lightwieight , can do 100 kms on 2 or 3 liters of petrol, I miss the extra power of bigger CC but that little XR is ready to go anywhere, do many things with a smile . Just check the oil often !!!!!!, the honda oil is ok but i had better runing and performance with motul 5100 @ 10w40 .
Good review. I'm not much of a 'dirt' guy but wanted a dual sport. This is bike 12 (currently). I also have a 21 honda trail which i like, but lets be honest, its a tarted up super cub. Also, small, but i dig it. I can see why people like to compare, but, this is a very different experience between the 2. the trail to me, is good for hauling stuff, easy ride, etc. this is more comfortable, surprisingly good ergonomics & def more capable short run 2-up. 99% of my riding is in town on secondary roads, or the rural sc roads. the day after i bought mine, i did 20 miles on back roads to break it in, was not fatigued, etc. the midrange performance was lacking,, and 5th gear was a bit too low gearing. I tired a 16 t up front, didn't like it, but had 'rebel gears' do a 51t for the rear w the stock 17 up front and its perfect. I got a white one, would def recommend. I paid 3670 or so out the door at generation 3 powersports in florence, sc. (2 hours away) the local dealer 1 mile from the house wanted 4765 otd, and i'll never go in there again after that last debacle. (theres a lot more to it than that). everyone ive let ride the 150 has liked it, def recommend. and impressed w the review, its spot on.
I've had similar bike like this for over 8yrs now Honda XR125. It's very durable on the street and off-road and the engine hardly gives me problem and I service it once every 2 months and change oil every month. I've crossed 3 African countries (Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia) with it and I experienced no mechanical problems. It been my best bike so far.
I owned the XR150L for 3 months. It was a fun ride. I still own a CRF250L & 2xCRF230L and was seriously looking at adding another XR150L to the stable for my Niece. However, a lightly used 08/09 CRF230L for around $3k makes a lot more sense. Lighter weight (268 vs 282), lower seat height (32”vs 33”), 6 speed vs 5 & more hp (19 vs 13) For me I’d like to see Honda transform the CRF250F into a street-legal XR250L 👍
@@H0GS16 the XR250L Tornado (6 speed) is no longer in production in Brazil. It was replaced by the 5 speed XRE300. Both air cooled but the 300 is fuel injected. Which is why a CRF250F released as a street legal XR250L would be great. Air-cooled with Fi meaning light & reliable 👍
I absolutely love this bike. Where I live the 160cc version started rolling out on 2014 I think and its called "NXR Bros 160. I've ridden over 50 thousand kilometers on mine, a 2012 version, and its insane how good it is. I also have an 2013 cb600f and its not half as fun because I'm the type of person that values more offroad and the cb is not made for it.
It really bugs me to listen as you call this motorcycle an "entry level" or "first" or "beginner's" model. I've known many whose first bikes were Harley Duo Glides. What you claim is trendy but incorrect. I'm going to buy one. I'm in my eighties now and have many decades of riding behind me. I just want a small bike to zip around town on and that get's good mileage and is easy and fun to maintain. The 150 is perfect for my needs but I am hardly a beginner. I want to be the only one in my groUp that drives to the senior center lunch on a Honda instead of driving a Buick. And.... I can easily pay cash for this little thing. Now if I can only figure out a way to attach my walker on the rack.
I completely agree . I purchased the Honda Navi last year and did 2400klms. Loved every second , like I tell people if you can ride a bicycle the Navi is easier , When I saw the new XR150L I bought it immediately this bike has a nice balance of so many needs like the wieght/low , comfortable/seat/riding position, reliable/low maintenance/low operating cost , dual sport/go anywhere, rear rack/tail bag and tank bag ready. The only add ons are new pegs/cheap upgrade , new Led headlight/also cheap/modern look/brighter , folding Tusk shifter , new 115 jet/lean at below 2000ft./better midrange and top end torque , after 1600klms to 2000klms break-in this great engine just purrs with Honda pride.
Couldn't agree more. I have a KTM 890 Adventure with just about every diet and power upgrade you can get in a home garage. I'd consider buying something like this 150 and sit in next to the 890. I'd ride then both no doubt.
I’m much younger than you but I’m in the same boat, I’ve been riding long enough that my motorcycle endorsement can legally drink. My daily is a BMW R9T, my running to the store is a Honda Monkey. But I’m at the age it hurts to kick my xr600r over, so the xr150 makes sense for me to chase the kids around when they ride their quads.
I have always wanted a bike, I am super into cycling. My friend is a grom wheelie boy and I have been looking at the trail for a while. This bike is it. I don't want anything faster for my first bike, and I think the Mpg and bomb proofness of this bike will make it something I refuse to get rid of.
Probably a bunch of good deals on lightly used DR200’s though…just thinking about how dealers are price gouging these new bikes. I’d also recommend a Yamaha XT225 or XT250. Might seem like a lot more bike but it definitely isn’t. They only like to do about 60mph or so too and I believe they have a 32” seat height. 5 speed as well, but the newer ones are fuel injected so no messing with a carb. Just some bikes to consider. Also, a Kawasaki KLX230 hits another sweet spot…fuel injected, 6 speed, dual disc brakes, air cooled, low seat height…some good deals out there on preowned ones, for those that felt the need to get the larger/heavier/more complex KLX300.
@@scotteger6271 Thanks for the advice, I over paid. But I got the xr brand new. I really wanted it for the rack, to carry my skateboard. and to cruise around with a few friends who have groms... Love this bike, and will prolly buy something faster todo some road trips next year.
@@Mclovinthedank I understand wanting to buy new but if you’re careful you can get some really good deals on lightly used bikes. When you go to get your next bike for road trips think about the things that are most important to you. I had a CB500X and it was a great all around bike that was happy on the highway and on a dirt back road.
i love this thing. it’s my first bike as well. at 40, 6 ft and 165 lbs the size and weight is easy to handle. been great to learn on. have nearly 500 miles on it so far all on the road. just sucks it’s getn too cold to ride now
Happy to see a review that actually tells me what I need to hear my max speed road I need to go on is 55 and thats only for just a street or two so as far as Im concerned this will be a great starter and commuter for me to go to and from work
I just became aware of this bike. It seems remarkably similar to my Brozz 250 in all respects except seat height and instrument cluster. The Honda costs a few hundred more, but you'd get dealer support moreso than with a no-name Chinese mail order bike. The upshot: I agree with everything you say about the fun of taking a light, small-displacement motorcycle off the beaten path at a slightly more sedate pace.
That is a super cool bike, always loved the smaller Enduros. The 650 is nice but on the level, the 150 is really neat..very comprehensive review..thanks
They'll stop calling that thing small or tiny if you change the wheel config from 19 front & 17 rear, into 21 front & 18 rear, just like a formal trail bike. That will dramatically increase seat height, top-speed, and overall looks. Check youtube videos of this 6'6" (2m) tall brit promoting his business in vietnam called Tigit. He's got good reviews about the XR150L, and the modified bike looks okay with him on it. Here in PH, XR150L owners do that 21"/18" mod all the time. And to avoid maxing out the suspensions we change the stock front fender with something that is not stooping like the stock one (CRF front fender), and change the suspensions with an inch or 2-inch longer ones, with a little bit of pre-tension, whichever we could handle. I am almost as tall as you (181cm), and the time I rode one, I could still touch both of my feet, flat on the ground, but my legs a bit stretched.
When I was looking for a enduro (off-road and on road) bike, this was one of them I researched! I already have a 2022 Honda crf 125f and a 2007 Honda 919, so why not this one! The answer is the price of almost 3 grand and what I would be getting: carburetor, 150 cc engine, rear drum brake, And last but not least dealer setup, taxes, tags, which bring the price up to about 3600 OTD! Then I came across a chinese bike called the Lifan KPX 250 that I could get out the door , all around disc brakes, fuel injection, 2 year engine warranty for the price of 3300 from Venom motorsports of Texas!. Guess which one I went with!
I just hit 600 miles on mine, if you want to ride on a lot of steep hills, you're gonna need to regear/change rear tire size. It's a 5 speed geared to hit about 70mph max downhill, 60-65mph on flat road, so the torque is a little lower than if it were geared more like a dirt bike.
It’s a dual sport. If you want to climb steep hills you will need more displacement. I’ve been riding 50 + years and love this bike. Great starter bike. Build your skills with it and then move on to something bigger.
On the top speed topic: I rented a Benelli BN125 naked sport bike in Portugal (Açores), and I can say that it was definitely geared to be able to do an absolute peak speed of about 125KPH, but it is an eternity to reach that. Treat bikes this small as if they should do 55mph.
I bought a new one in October, 2022, here in Ixtapa, Guerrero, Mexico and it's almost 2 years old and the front rim has been rusting, despite cleaning it back to a shine and it comes right back. Stickers starting to curl and I have it cleaned every month. One thing I truly dislike is no sixth gear! Keep wanting the next gear just to cruise a little easier, yeah I wanted a 190 which has a six speed but couldn't be found around here in Mexico and no tach on it! I got better mileage then he did, 420 KM befor hitting the reserve but that just around town and minimal highway...
I just got one. I wanted white but had to settle for black just to get one. It's quieter than my Monkey. In my first tank of gas I got 184 miles before reserve, the second and third tank I got 192. I think if I don't peg it out I can break 200 miles. I'm averaging about 95 mpg now (first tank was 87 mpg) but it might see 100 mpg as it gets more broken in, but it will never see the 124 mpg that honda claims. the speedometer is 5 mph off so when I'm doing 50 on this I'm really doing 55.
I thought my speedo was very accurate but it's hard to speed anywhere when rocking 12hp . The cop is probably watching that Mustang or Corvette. If you are getting tickets with this bike you need more help than I can offer.
@@philipcloutier2553 You are probably right. But if you use the gps on your phone you'll see how much it's off. It's off about 2 mph at 30, 3 mph at 35, 4 mph at 40, and the rest of the way up it's off about 5 mph. No, if you're 5 mph over the limit, you probably won't get a ticket. But if the speed limit is 45 and you like always go 5 mph over the limit then you will be going 10 mph over the limit in the real world and yes you can get a ticket at that speed!
I was here 2-3 months ago & I like this little bike..... I've learned about some things one can do to make it a little stronger but it is a 150cc at the end of the day & it makes no sense to spend too much to try and get the small amount you'd get? That said I also saw that the suspension isn't adjustable but I found out that the same frame is used on at least 1 of Honda's moto-cross bikes & the front forks(inverted) can be swapped out, fits right in & it will give you a lot more control/handling if you want it? A guy who lives in S.America shared the bike(s) that you might look for to have suspension and the front wheel as well. Thanks for the videos, peace
It's normally those who have limited miles on a motorcycle, that misuse the term "entry level".....I'm 70...I've bought over 30 brand new motorcycles in my life, from Harleys, a couple Beemers and everything that burns rice...One thing I've learned, it's not displacement or horsepower that depict a bikes purpose...It's how the rider plans on applying the bike to his preferred riding style and enviorment...I presently own a 2022 650 klr adventure, ( my 7th new klr over a 30 year span).. I'm considering this bike, not because I'm a beginner, rather because I would like something lighter and maneuverable for short runs..And sometimes the smaller displacement bikes ( lacking a dash play station), brings guys of my generation back to a simpler time, when the most basic of machines, offered the purest experience of riding....So a little advice for the young rookie riders, (especially those that enjoy sharing their experience on utube), get a grip on the intended and optional use of a bike before designated it a "beginners" ...No disrespect to this fine gentlemen..Nice review..
@@JackPeters-yk9wg I do agree. A smaller simpler bike to kick around town is a blast. I actually just picked up a nice small bike that I’m really enjoying. Video coming today on that. 👍
Nice review! My friend is down sizing to a xr150 soon, and he is excited about it. I’m down sizing to a crf300l rally, that I’ve been told will be here for sure next month. It’s going to be hard to wait it out, but the days are clicking by. I love the way you talk about the motorcycles, good and bad and what you expect out of them. Thanks for the great reviews and happy riding!
Let us know what you think when you get that 300! I’m thinking of going that route, I’ve ridden the snot out of my beloved XR400, all the mods, but at 58 with a pacemaker, it’s time for electric start! Have my eye on a rally!
I would love this bike as my first bike. The max doesnt bother me too much seeing as it'll be used to get to work and back and speed limits rarely go pass 50
I'd love to see this compared to the Lifan kpx 250 same price Lifan has bigger engine fuel injection 21"front tire 18" rear 41mm forks digital dash fuel gage shift indicator tach led lights blinker rear rack 250cc six speed balanced engine and I've had mine for 9 months no issues I did look at the xr150 but it was lacking in so many areas thanks for the video
Have a black 2022 model in the Philippines. 17 months old 17100 km. All ignition system, switch and relay changed under warranty. Problems started after 3 month than started to change one by one under warranty which took more than a year with the waiting for the parts. Front break is weak and making a noise since day 1 dealer cannot fix it (already reassembled, cleaned still the same) but only in rain it smooth and strong. Noone can tell me what should be the case. (I am not a mechanic.) Just this weak both the carburetor gasket and the engine head gasket started to leak. All the panels are in a different angle not properly assemblied in China. Rust eating it up since day 1. Very low quality paint and weldings on the frame. Whatever solution I tried cannot stop the rust especially in this humid hot wet climate. I am 6.7 tall 107 kg but still can fit with my wife in the back. Actually this is the only bike what I can use here with my height. We often using this bike on rough road steep uphills but it can handle it. Slowly but surely. The torque is good. Even in the biggest heat need full choke and the engine keep stalling even with that. Tires are still stock. Chain just adjusted 2 weeks ago still stock. Oil change after every 1200 km. Spark plug change after every 8000 km. It would be a great bike if they assembly it properly in China. No other option for duo sport bike in the Philippines. Kawasaki KLX is too small, Yamaha XTZ is 125 and very small too.
The issue is that dealers will be charging half the price of the bike in fees to get you out the door. I'm lucky I got a great deal on my new XT250 as a leftover. I"m also not sure I would take this over a trail 125....but the price is right.
Well boys this is not a BBQ it is licensed and legal for the road I guess you could save assembly fees if you are a licensed mechanic , the document fee they do all the paperwork and in the end have a business to run making a profit . I say suck it up buttercup this bike is worth every penny and rewards you with so many smiles . There is only one thing better thats the XR190L if only they where for sale here .
I was going to buy one at the dealer but there was a $400 junk fees that turned me off. I ended up buying a new Venom mini chopper 250 that cost 2k. I really liked the Honda though.
I had a Yamaha 550 enduro and it was too heavy when exploring new trails. On the street no problem at higher speeds but the forks didn’t like higher speeds. I would like to see the 300 review.
Interesting to note: For only 9 pounds more, you can get a Yamaha XT250 (282 vs 291 lb wet). The XT250 has the same seat height and same wheelbase, but it's fuel injected, has bigger wheels (better for off-road), and has higher ground clearance. Of course it's also $5300. But it points to the generally lower quality of the XR150L, meaning use of heavier materials. Thanks for the video.
Love your video I love the way you ride that's the same exact way I want a trail ride I'd like to have a much bigger bike I think maneuverability is where it's at
Can’t find one from my preferred Honda dealer (Monterey County, California). They were expecting one and nothing came in. The owner told me they haven’t been able to order anything since COVID. And they don’t know if any are coming. Freaking stinks…HELLO HONDA!!!
The dealer is in business to make a profit no less . And look at it this way . The dealer only gets a limited number of these bike per year . I rode mine all summer and never came across one other XR150L . So as the new kid sort of (65yrs.) even the teenagers want to know about this great bike . Surprisingly it generated lots of intrest by women as most can lift this light wieght after a tip over . I told them the ride is oh so plush as well the seat is second to only the best . I went to many bike nights . And only I had one . 50,000+ Asian and South Americans can't be wrong .
I have had trouble with bad gas, can you turn off the gas and run the engine till it stops? This will protect you from bad gas. Also I am short and might need to lower the rear for seat height. And what about the quality of the tires and tubes. Used to have lots of problems with tires and tubes when I was young, 60 years ago.
Hey buddy. Thanks for the video. What is a proper out the door price at a"stealer ship" I live in a city where there us a monopoly on bikes. One group owns all the dealerships. 3xcept a rogue Polaris store and a Polaris yamaha dealership just out of town. They won't hudge on. Price on any bike ever. Cost plus freight plus set up plus tt&l . Best out the door price I can get is 4300 new
So I'm 6'3 170 took my motorcycle class and I'm looking for my first bike this looks like exactly what I need I want something to drive around town and hit some off trails is there any upgrades for this bike I was thinking about a pro hawk off Amazon maybe not so much now
Did all the 2023 models sell out or are the 2024 advertised ones made in 2023? All the dealers say its a 2024. Im confused by the year they say these bikes are.
Same story here at about 330 miles: bike was off with key in run position and light on and doused off the front with water… Subsequently no light or ignition. Was able to dump the couch and start it in gear (no headlight) and troubleshoot/replace 7.5 amp fuse when back to camp. Very odd; now carry two spare 7.5 fuses.
I replaced my headlight with a DZG LED headlight for $30 Amozon, no problems , Less current draw I figure than the halogen and more modern looking plus huge difference in night vision
You can tell that Honda put a different muffler on this & made it a US Bike..... they've sold the hell outta these all over the World...... virtually indestructible motor on this & a proven commuter in cities w/ heavy traffic, just not a freeway type of bike(maybe 1-2 exits) as she ain't fast enough for safe interstate hwys. peace
Came close to buying one then noticed it had a carborator. Ugh, been away from motorbikes for a long time, promised myself my next bike would be fuel injection. Too much bad experiences with carborators, reluctant pass on this bike.
Get a Yamaha XT250 or Kawasaki KLX230…both fuel injected and will give you as much fun as this bike with no frills. They’re both stupid simple bikes that need very little to keep them going. I’ve had two XT’s and they were both great. I had kids and got out of bikes for a while but have been looking for a good deal on a lightly used KLX230…only because it has a 6th gear, something the Yamaha could definitely use, otherwise they’re pretty similar (both air cooled). They’ll be a good bit more MSRP than this, but I’ve heard dealers are charging crazy money for an XR150 out the door…could always find a used like new XT or KLX and save the fees.
@@scotteger6271 Actually tried to get a Yamaha xt250, none in stock! Won't have any in til winter or later. The Yamaha dealer here sucks, too focused on the million dollars worth of boats in stock to actually stock any selection of bikes. Probably keep looking on the used market.
buy something else used. % wise fees don't seem crazy on a pricey bike but the freight and set up fees are the same on a 3k bike. they need to pay people to set it up and tons of overhead. then pay medical and retirement and paid vacation for employees. maybe 20k a month for rent etc.......

The way to buy at a better price is wait a year someone will sell a used one for cheaper than OTD cost . They might reduce the price like they did to the Navi .
@@philipcloutier2553 at the time this video was posted there were none available near me. Most of the dealerships would not go down on price at the time because of how popular it was. I did get mine for cheaper then what the dealership was asking though.

Can you make a video showing the bike i plan on getting one and doing some mods to it
Exactly what I want this for, and a ride to make my short commute to work
And berming curbs for no reason at all
Wow, yours is freaking loaded.
@@42WasTheAnswer I got one about a month ago and that's what I like about it.
Love to hear someone who loves a quiet bike
Quiet bikes are the best. It makes it much easier to go on those midnight rides through the neighborhood without disturbing anyone.
Thanks for the way you review this bike! So many reviews of motorcycles complain about what a bike can't do instead of focusing on what the bike actually is and what it capabilities are. Very well said ..."understand and appreciate what you are buying".
These little bikes are awesome. They have one of Honda's most reliable engines ever. Im seriously thinking about buying one to putter around.
I bought one yesterday, do it. Go get one you'll love it
@@dontpanic4295 My mom bought one and doesn't like it much.
I hear you brother, I got a klr650 last year and proceeded to fall over regularly, all while standing still. Keep them straight up or else! 😀
Had one for few years, 54 000 kms on everytype of roads, dirt, windy, mountain pass and green lanes, i did jump it few times...
This little Honda is a gem, it ride solid and is lightwieight , can do 100 kms on 2 or 3 liters of petrol,
I miss the extra power of bigger CC but that little XR is ready to go anywhere, do many things with a smile .
Lighter weight (268 vs 282), lower seat height (32”vs 33”), 6 speed vs 5 & more hp (19 vs 13)
For me I’d like to see Honda transform the CRF250F into a street-legal XR250L 👍
Love my XR150L. Awesome MPG with longer range. But definitely selling it once I find another 230L. I miss that 6th gear and lower rpm's.
There's a xr250l In brazil but better just buy a 200r
Yep. Not just for beginners.
Couldn't agree more. I have a KTM 890 Adventure with just about every diet and power upgrade you can get in a home garage. I'd consider buying something like this 150 and sit in next to the 890. I'd ride then both no doubt.
Man. no kidding !
Good choice. This is 100% the bike I would buy as a beginner now that the dr200 is gone. Hell I want one now, little bike + normal wheels = perfect
I had a CB500X and it was a great all around bike that was happy on the highway and on a dirt back road.
i love this thing. it’s my first bike as well. at 40, 6 ft and 165 lbs the size and weight is easy to handle. been great to learn on. have nearly 500 miles on it so far all on the road. just sucks it’s getn too cold to ride now
Well I wasn’t expecting this to be a Techne video 😂 Been watching XR150 vids and got this one recommended.

BTW in Brazil it´s called Bros 150 and it´s on the market since 2006 I believe
Awesome bike I loved mine took it on and off road handled any condition perfectly
Might b 🗑 🚮 🗑
Im planning to get the honda xr 150 as first bike. I hope that it will do good on very steap hills
If you weigh more than 100 pounds and you wanna do tall hills, you better get a bigger bike..it's a 150,remember?
@@enriquemejia6697 100 pounds is 45kg ........
Sorry just looks like shit ,brakes carb travel just buy A hawk
You can never go wrong with a Honda
On the top speed topic:
I rented a Benelli BN125 naked sport bike in Portugal (Açores), and I can say that it was definitely geared to be able to do an absolute peak speed of about 125KPH, but it is an eternity to reach that. Treat bikes this small as if they should do 55mph.
That fuse tip is excellent, I've only had 2-strokes so thanks for that tip 😊
I think the 124 mpg must be if you never go over about 35-40.
@@Sylvan_dBtheir criteria is all probably ideal conditions and you probably have to weigh as much as a small child to also see those results
I've learned about some things one can do to make it a little stronger but it
is a 150cc at the end of the day & it makes no sense to spend too much to try and get the small amount you'd get? That said
I also saw that the suspension isn't adjustable but I found out that the same frame is used on at least 1 of Honda's moto-cross
bikes & the front forks(inverted) can be swapped out, fits right in & it will give you a lot more control/handling if you want it?
A guy who lives in S.America shared the bike(s) that you might look for to have suspension and the front wheel as well.
Thanks for the videos, peace
Sounds like a good budget backroad ADV bike to tour America. Hope to see you make travel videos.

I’m right there waiting with you. I’ve been waiting for a few weeks already.
Let us know what you think when you get that 300! I’m thinking of going that route, I’ve ridden the snot out of my beloved XR400, all the mods, but at 58 with a pacemaker, it’s time for electric start! Have my eye on a rally!
Ho this is an old man's bike. It sure looks great beside my GL1800 and the Honda Navi . This equals highway, dual sport , just fun .
Well I’ve got 750 miles on the CRF300 Rally, and I’m loving it. Don’t want to take away from the original post, but the rally is awesome!
I have both the xr150 and crf300l rally, I love them both, hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!
(I am not a mechanic.)
Just this weak both the carburetor gasket and the engine head gasket started to leak.
It's a cheap dual sports that is quite capable we bought a used one for a farm bike that i can used for learning offroad riding too
I love my new little XR
Sounds like the old Honda C G , think it's a great little bike for just toodling round on , probably good for green laning, great review 👍 Thank you 😊
The issue is that dealers will be charging half the price of the bike in fees to get you out the door. I'm lucky I got a great deal on my new XT250 as a leftover. I"m also not sure I would take this over a trail 125....but the price is right.
True. I got quoted 5100 OTD yesterday.
This is why I didn't buy one. Honda priced it appropriately but the dealers are an absolute nightmare.
My local dealer wants between $300 to $600 setup fee plus a $150 doc fee and shipping! Forget it!
My Honda dealer wanted 1000 over the msrp so basically 4k for a 3k bike. I walked out.
Good honest review, I just got one. Agree with review.
WAY different deal
Great Review! GREAT! I want to get something like this to ride the SCAR or other mostly sandy trails here in SC!!!
Here in Salt Lake City, I was quoted $4995. I'm very disappointed. 😢
Love your video I love the way you ride that's the same exact way I want a trail ride I'd like to have a much bigger bike I think maneuverability is where it's at
"Short and sweet" is the perfect description.
Great honest video. Thank you
Can’t find one from my preferred Honda dealer (Monterey County, California). They were expecting one and nothing came in. The owner told me they haven’t been able to order anything since COVID. And they don’t know if any are coming. Freaking stinks…HELLO HONDA!!!
you can get better top speed by changing sprockets, its not like most of us are doing difficult uphill offroad stuff a lot
"don't go to a dealer, they'll rip you off". Then where do you get one?
The dealer is in business to make a profit no less . And look at it this way . The dealer only gets a limited number of these bike per year . I rode mine all summer and never came across one other XR150L .
So as the new kid sort of (65yrs.) even the teenagers want to know about this great bike . Surprisingly it generated lots of intrest by women as most can lift this light wieght after a tip over .
I told them the ride is oh so plush as well the seat is second to only the best . I went to many bike nights . And only I had one . 50,000+ Asian and South Americans can't be wrong .
He said stealership. 😂 unless that was the last video I viewed. 🤔
Great Review. Excellent Review. I never knew about this bike. Very Cool.
Yeah I'm selling my KLR 650 and I think I'll be getting a little one now
I’ve always wanted to ride my Ttr125 on the road I think this is my best option.
I had also a black one, and i am very satisfied with the performance of this bike. I dont need to race but when i need a speed, it does not fail me.
Great Scout bike , I would get it sprayed OD Green with Bedliner for Army cool.
Great Informative Video!
WAIT Techne??? Theres no way, im used to seeing your gaming accessories review chanel but i didnt expect to see you here haha

You have a good attitude
Great review thanks brotha

Can agree with most of this even the fuses
What’s a gear indicator? I just smash them til I find one.

Did it get alot more wobbly in the steering with the risers? For me the steering is different now
Drop a CR500R motor in it. Loose the front fender and rear cargo thing. Would be about the same caliber of bike Evel Knievel jumped 13 busses with.

Did all the 2023 models sell out or are the 2024 advertised ones made in 2023? All the dealers say its a 2024. Im confused by the year they say these bikes are.
Where do you buy one to avoid getting ripped off?
thanks again!
How is the skid plate?
Engine guards?
I can get one of these for $2200. Or I can buy a 04 Yamaha 225XT for the same price. You think I should buy one here 150L? Or Yamaha.
How many horsepowers?
This bike is just over £4,000 In the UK.
Good review!
Bought the DZG LED headlight plug and play huge difference $30 Amozon a must buy .
Mine blew the fuse as well around 60 miles. I was messing with the headlight too. Weird.

You can tell that Honda put a different muffler on this & made it a US Bike..... they've sold the hell outta these all over the
World...... virtually indestructible motor on this & a proven commuter in cities w/ heavy traffic, just not a freeway type of
bike(maybe 1-2 exits) as she ain't fast enough for safe interstate hwys. peace
Chyyyyneeesee. That changed my mind.
It is 149 cc. Is it legal to drive this in California freeway because California requirement is 150 cc.. Please respond
Hawaii Cycle City dealership are selling it for $5,300. They are market it high because they are the only dealership in town..
Here in Canada mine was $5300 OTD Canadian funds . But worth every penny.
How do ya think this mc would handle elevations, like 10,000 plus?
I really like crf250 l but its little heavy XR150L looks like it would be more fun easy to throw it around yea just mite sell the 250 and buy 150
Probably keep looking on the used market.
very well said
How do I not buy one from the stealership?
buy something else used. % wise fees don't seem crazy on a pricey bike but the freight and set up fees are the same on a 3k bike. they need to pay people to set it up and tons of overhead. then pay medical and retirement and paid vacation for employees. maybe 20k a month for rent etc.......
@@ltcuaa thank you. I was specific in my question. I should’ve said how do I buy this specific motorcycle without getting from the dealership. It was a rhetorical question though because the answer is that you can’t because it’s a new model here in the states.
Can i ride this in the free way or in regular streets?
