I have been saying I want a TBC option for a while. Glad to hear that many others are starting to miss it as well. It has after all been an entire classic expansion between then and Cata. If they do TBC era I hope they make a WotlK as well. Or just a rotating option tbh. Start in classic and go through the expansions again. And have 1-2 rotations going at the same time.
Would definitely play tbc era server. Didn't get to play TBC classic properly because of rl stuff and the pace it was going in. Love the leveling phase in outlands with the dungeon grind towards Kara and Gruul raids. The whole progression of TBC always felt better than any other expansion.
One of the things I disliked about tbc classic was the trend that people had to turn every server into single faction (on EU at least) forcing them to become fake pve realms. Now that Blizz proved they could bring a server balance system as they made for SoD I think they would make a big big thing if they bring back tbc with it
Even supporting only 1 TBC server should be a given, sure - you don't need a ton because the hype will die down and you need to keep the population on 1 NA and 1 EU server but I have no idea how they aren't offering a single TBC and single WoTLK server
Tbc was the most fun expansion overall. Only the start of classic 2019 with that insane hype and like everyone playing it was on top of that for me. But tbc I had fun from day 1 to wotlk release. It was a bit more challenging than classic but to the point you could still do everything with your friends or pugs. Arena was fun too and you had many things you could do if you want but don’t felt like you have to do. Was actually really disappointed that they didnt gave us tbc era so we could keep our character there and play sometimes
The original trilogy simply has extra punch since it was the direct offspring of WC3. Nothing can compete with that because of the massively successful and heavily edging setup. You'd have to do a WC4 RTS to set up anything like vanilla-tbc-wlk again
Burning crusade had amazing raids, i loved the attunements. They were perfect for gearing pretty much giving you near pre-raid bis in p1. People who hate the attunements are most likely the people who play WOW only to raid log. No matter how many times I stepped trough the dark portal on a new alt for the first time i loved the music and the vibe of hellfire peninsula. Outland zones are amazing. Heroics had a perfect difficulty. The only thing i would add to TBC would be the alpha, beta rune system from wrath classic.
No one likes attunements, and no one liked it in 2007, that's why they were removed in future raid releases. 2007 TBC was my jam playing 14-18 hrs and not having to worry about adult things as a kid. Imagine having to do attunements with having responsibility to the real-world
I think attunements made the game feel like a rpg and even it was annoying after leveling alt 8 to get them attuned I never even thought about removing them.
TL:DR; Yes, TBC era servers please. I didn't have the ability to play the classic launch of vanilla or TBC, and when original TBC was around, I was spending 99% of my time in the 29 bracket of WSG, though I did get a human warrior to 67 before moving across the country and giving wow up for a couple years. I came back early WotlK and lost my old account so I had to start over, leveled a druid to 55, parked them in outlands, then rolled DK and enjoyed diseaseless blood until Ulduar (where I went frost and basically just spammed aoe), so the opportunity to go back and play TBC properly would be nice. I love vanilla, and TBC doesn't really feel that different to vanilla to me, very probably because I showed up to wow vanilla late as well (spent a lot of time talking shit about paying a monthly sub to roommates) so it wasn't until patch 1.6 or 1.7ish that I joined (it was before they tested the snake trap for hunters that would glitch during duels and hunters were griefing lowbies by dueling them, letting the lowbies set off the trap, then forfeiting the duel and the snakes would still kill them, and when druids could still level their fishing up and use a fishing pole in bear form and rofltstomp wsg).
If they would either set up a server or servers that allowed you to progress through Vanilla -> TBC -> Wrath at your leisure or enable you to transfer from a Vanilla Era server to TBC Era to Wrath Era, I would be happy to pay a much higher monthly subscription cost than is currently charged and I am confident that there are many more who would happily do the same. If I were to come back to WoW it wouldn't be for Cataclysm Classic and certainly not retail. There's still a good number of things that I would like to accomplish in Vanilla but that can also be said of TBC and Wrath. Again, I am confident there are many others who could say the same. WoW truly needs TBC/Wrath Era servers.
Would love to get classic tbc or a classic tbc-PLUS and not rushed content like 1 year and then over. Because that caters only to the tryhards and rushers. Who usually rush to max, then complain they got nothing to do. Also if they would do some tbc-plus thing, NO wow token, NO level boost. You want to play? Then you pay your sub and start playing/working for it like everyone else did. This handholding/spoon feeding bs need to stop yesterday. A tbc-plus that uses old Azeroth world ftw.
i personally want some tbc content tuned to lvl 60 in sod, but further down the line they should start doing tbc/wrath seasons on the now cata client, and have the cata servers go thru all the expansions and eventually catch up to retail and become a timewalking era realm that has content from all expansions, this way retail can evolve into a better game
Yet another great video Solheim! I would love to see TBC hardcore with some minor tweaks to player power especially mages. But yeah starting from lvl 1 and go to 70 and maybe at 70 if you die in the raid you ressurect after 1 or 2 weeks.
Yeah, mediumcore definitely. If you can ress after ~1 or 2 weeks, we can toss the petriflask meta, too. HC deaths, especially the unfair deaths like disconnects with no appeal process, are only positive for content creators to grow their channels, while average players don't have that kind of a silver lining for a tragic character death.
Its freakin wild to me that they had classic era, classic hardcore, Season of Mastery, and Season of Discovery with a dozen+ servers each, but they don't have a single era server for TBC or Wrath. I'm honestly sick of classic era.
I also have kinda missed tbc classic almost entirely and really would be happy to try the tbc on blizz servers from start if they do the new iteration of it, or open era realms finally, that was quite a good game, something inbetween vanilla and wrath which was very decent, I would also love to play prepatch when you already have draenei and belves but no lvl 70 yet
I'd like a TBC server, but what I want the most is a Cataclysm client, where you can play all the raids from TBC, WotLK and Cata in a progressive manner, be it horizontal or vertical progression.
I see two viable options: 1. Vanilla > TBC > Wrath on 3 year cycles 2. TBC era with an accompanying seasonal server after the first year. At the end of each season, your characters get transferred to era and a new fresh would launch. The same would apply with the Wrath client, but I would stagger the launch and content releases so that players can play both so the players won't be overwhelmed with content from both at the same time while also not suffering through a drought between phases. Also, implement the ability to copy your characters from classic era to TBC and from TBC to Wrath and even classic to Wrath. In both options I would like to see dual spec as well as shared reputation between characters on a single account. Grinding out reputation from ground zero on every alt is stupid as f*ck and nobody enjoys it. One of the reasons people didn't like TBC was cause of its inherent, grind heavy nature. Common sense QoL changes like dual spec and shared reputation for alts would be a sensible addition that I believe would encourage some of the TBC haters to look favorably upon the expansion. I prefer option 1 because I think it is healthy to have separation. 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder, familiarity breeds contempt' is a phrase that I believe applies, at least for me, in this scenario. But everyone is different, and I don't think forcing that view onto other players is the right thing to do. I would honestly be happy with either one!
I'm currently leveling a few characters in classic just for this. Yes, I'll definitely play TBC once it opens (if? NO....when!) we really need era servers for all 3 original expansions. Vanilla, TBC, and wrath. Then a continual progression server with the option to migrate characters after each expansion to the era servers.
100% agree with what was said at the start about content coming out too quickly. A lot of the Classic player base that played vanilla now have jobs, children, families so our time to play is limited. During WoW Classic, it felt like Temple of Ahn'Qiraj came out, then Naxxramas, and then TBC in such a short time frame that it never really got to be enjoyed. For many guilds, they were still trying to get Ahn'Qiraj on farm, or just starting Naxx before TBC was out. This personally put me off playing and I quit, missing out on TBC and WotLK (which I now regret), but I'm glad to be back for Cata. But then now it seems like they're pushing all the Cata content out in a 9-12 month time period, vs over 2 years when it came out in vanilla. All I'm asking for is more time to actually enjoy the game and the content.
TBC is my favorite expansion, that said for me to come back to a TBC server would need to be : - Permanent. No forced progression to WotLK and no server wipes. - Only 2 servers: One PvP and one PvE - Cross faction AH and Cross faction mails to other characters of same account (at least on PvE server). -- Really needed for expected low pop eventually. Optional but would be appreciated : - Set at the very last TBC patch or even the WotLK pre-patch. I'm not interested to wait for all content to trickle in this time, did that 2-3 years ago. And having DKs in TBC was pure fun. - Fast gathering (introduced in WOTLK) - Tracking both herbs/ore at the same time on the minimap (introduced in Cataclysm, I think). - Mount tab, so we dont have to unlock mounts on every single characters... Tho with non-resetting servers it's not as bad... Still, easy quick changes and much needed. - Modern Auction House (Fixes the issue with trolls listing 500 listings of 1 ore/herb). Or if not, part of the Modern AH mechanics. - Transmorg (you hate it or like it, but it's fun to have your character look how you want... give a menu option to disable transmorg for ppl that want to see the original funky gear mismatches, or for PvP). - No tokens, or anything that messes economy. A healthy economy is so important. - Stacks of 200 (for herbs, ore, and a few others). - Keeping the attunements? Absolutely agreed. Cross your fingers... I don't expect a return of TBC, but it would sure be nice, and just about the only thing that would get me to sub back again.
fresh wotlk server was almost as good as vanilla launch. they should do the same thing for tbc if people really cry for it. start lvl 1 with prepatch then release tbc 2-4 weeks later.
yea after playing Wotlk classic again and Cata for the first time, i have to say TBC was the best expansion ever. Not too hardcore nor too easy, yet far more fun than Cata or Wrath
Wotlk had better class design, talents & more specs viable both in raiding & PVP but TBC had way, way better 5 mans & attunements (although doing the same grind on alts gets boring)
It is insane that there are no era servers for tbc or wotlk. It makes literally zero sense business-wise. The two week pre-patch from classic vanilla to tbc was the most fun I've had with the game, just leveling a belf pally, grouping with other belves who were not eligible for a lvl boost to 58. It is a bit regrettable that the classic community is making a conscious push towards demanding fresh vanilla by congregating on Deviate Delight and Zandalar Tribe realm for fake fresh, but while doing so, they are not really talking about era servers for tbc and wotlk. I fear we are ~two years away from tbc era servers, because the company would probably want to hype them in an official setting, such as blizzcon, and the roadmap of the previous blizzcon didn't mention those era servers yet. It is really unfortunate, because all it would take for era servers to get implemented would be Metzen to slam his fist on the table inside the company.
if they were to give a few tbc servers, people would overload them and there would be wait times. best expansion ever. people deny it, but we would have to log on remotely and sit in 8 hour queues. they were not prepared last time, they will not be prepared now. I dislike gdkp's though, not sure if there's a fix for that. they screw up the economy. also, they should gate the character creation on pvp servers to keep population equal
I could see era servers having 1 of each realm type. PVE, PVP, RP, RP-PVP, and possibly experimental HC-PVE, with low-pops (PVE, RP and PVP RP-PVP) cross-realm play enabled. There likely needs to be (at least) 2 PVP realms, because you cannot (afaik) make characters in both factions on a single pvp realm.
No cash shop? You lost Blizzard right there. No Era server for you. (I’m anti cash shop all the way and if they could get rid of GDKP I’d love that too)

most classic era servers are low pop, most hardcore servers are low pop, sod is okay-ish and cata classic servers are the most active of classic servers. switching a few era servers to TBC wouldn't kill anybody.
I considered both TBC and Wotlk to both be great, but after playing wotlk classic I hated it, most boring / easy HCs ever and on top of that grinding Naxx... Only Ulduar was fun. TBC is still gold to play tho, would love to play a classic TBC era server.
Unfortunately there isn't enough population to have 6 versions of the game running at the same. At present we have 5 versions and it's already too much. There should only 1 Classic and 1 Retail imo.
There probably are, there just isn't accurate data on the big picture. A lot of people who would play on those era servers are not even subscribed or actively playing and being counted among those daily active user numbers because the version of WoW they'd be most hyped for isn't available to be played, and official era servers would draw people from the private server scene. SoD will eventually come to an end, much like SoM did, and towards the end of its life cycle the realms are likely very low pop already - the players have gone elsewhere. It's just a matter of how large server populations you are gunning for and if there is cross-realm play or not. A person who really wants to play a specific expansion will head over to private server scene and see if that is any good for them, instead of staying and paying a sub to play an expansion/version that they don't really want to play.
I mean, introducing new servers only further dilutes the playerbase. We have retail, remix, cata classic, SoD, and now we're going to add fresh class and/or fresh tbc? The playerbase cannot support all these different game modes and I don't think it would be popular enough to warrant Blizzard putting resources towards it
I don't think it would be an issue as long as there were only a small amount of servers to choose from. There may be multiple versions available already with Retail, Cata Classic and SoD Classic, but many people don't play all of them. Having the choice of playing both Cata Classic and a TBC Classic means I'd be playing WoW ALL the time between those two, instead of just Cata Classic and then a non-Blizzard game.
come on guys we don't need more ways to play world of warcraft, we need a good expansion that makes everybody loves the game again, classic cataclysm killed SOD, war within gonna kill cataclysm, and it keep going, it's awful to play sod in a dead server, even crusader strike has low pp right now
Cata is just a shit expansion. Everyone of my friends who quit sod for that didn’t believe me and now nobody of them is playing cata and they don’t come back to sod because they feel like they missed to much for a seasonal server to start again… playing on living flame eu which was the biggest server in the world last phase and I know what you mean it feels kinda dead. You just find ST raids the day after reset. Tww release is when it’s no problem to raidlog and play a bit tww. It depends on when they add new content to sod. If it’s while tww still had hype it’s rip for sod I guess but if they time it good people won’t quit one for the other. But what am I even talking about, blizzard timing things good would be crazy
Yes, 3 or 4 janky versions of Vanilla but not one way to play TBC or Wrath? Ridiculous SoD is just giving tbc & wrath abilities, talents to vanilla, they are out of ideas so throw everything at the wall & see what sticks approach. Modern day blizzard is too lazy & incompetent to make a good Vanilla+ so people need to stop supporting them. Even private servers have done it much better & actually ban bots ..
TBC would be 100% better if Flying was removed. I loved TBC but sadly there are some downsides. Like the fact they made a lot of the old zones in vanilla world kind of redundant. I love TBC, but they would need to fix up some stuff.
No they shouldn’t start with this fixing shit. Keep it how it was, it was really fun and if they start changing too much they might make bad decisions that will ruin the game. Blizzard is good at making bad decisions. The only big thing they changed and almost ruined my mage was this anti boosting mechanic they added in phase 2 or 3 where mobs had cc immunity after some time. That’s the only big change they did and it was terrible change that removed mage boosting which was one of the most fun things to do when I had no raid or arena session.

But the boost at least we only one time and didn’t made my experience of the game worse. Wotlk was a lot worse that I remembered and the addition of wow token completely killed it for me…
No, the people who really want tbc or wotlk are not playing on official, they're playing some other game or on private servers. Opening the era servers would see total number of players grow, there's easily room for a few low to medium pop era realms.
Truthfully I'm good without TBC Realms! I really liked TBC during its initial release in 2005-06 time, but the classic version showed its age. No reason to further fragment the already small wow community (Especially PvP Community). Cata and SOD gonna take turns eradicating each others participation/population with content updates. Also from an arena standpoint, TBC has the worst class balancing of any version of the game (Including Vanilla where there was no Arenas).

I think Classic and TBC should be merged, normalized, and redeveloped as intended originally. at minimum, there should be a couple of TBC servers

Grinding out reputation from ground zero on every alt is stupid as f*ck and nobody enjoys it. One of the reasons people didn't like TBC was cause of its inherent, grind heavy nature. Common sense QoL changes like dual spec and shared reputation for alts would be a sensible addition that I believe would encourage some of the TBC haters to look favorably upon the expansion.
I prefer option 1 because I think it is healthy to have separation. 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder, familiarity breeds contempt' is a phrase that I believe applies, at least for me, in this scenario. But everyone is different, and I don't think forcing that view onto other players is the right thing to do. I would honestly be happy with either one!
I'm currently leveling a few characters in classic just for this. Yes, I'll definitely play TBC once it opens (if? NO....when!)
we really need era servers for all 3 original expansions. Vanilla, TBC, and wrath. Then a continual progression server with the option to migrate characters after each expansion to the era servers.
Really want to go to outland with my 60s from era. Really hope they make it possible to just copy and play both versions indefinetly :D

I've been waiting for TBC to return for a long time, I hope they bring it. I vote for a TBC ERA. ♥
100% agree with what was said at the start about content coming out too quickly. A lot of the Classic player base that played vanilla now have jobs, children, families so our time to play is limited. During WoW Classic, it felt like Temple of Ahn'Qiraj came out, then Naxxramas, and then TBC in such a short time frame that it never really got to be enjoyed. For many guilds, they were still trying to get Ahn'Qiraj on farm, or just starting Naxx before TBC was out. This personally put me off playing and I quit, missing out on TBC and WotLK (which I now regret), but I'm glad to be back for Cata. But then now it seems like they're pushing all the Cata content out in a 9-12 month time period, vs over 2 years when it came out in vanilla. All I'm asking for is more time to actually enjoy the game and the content.
TBC is my favorite expansion, that said for me to come back to a TBC server would need to be :
- Permanent. No forced progression to WotLK and no server wipes.
- Only 2 servers: One PvP and one PvE
- Cross faction AH and Cross faction mails to other characters of same account (at least on PvE server). -- Really needed for expected low pop eventually.
Optional but would be appreciated :
- Set at the very last TBC patch or even the WotLK pre-patch. I'm not interested to wait for all content to trickle in this time, did that 2-3 years ago. And having DKs in TBC was pure fun.
- Fast gathering (introduced in WOTLK)
- Tracking both herbs/ore at the same time on the minimap (introduced in Cataclysm, I think).
- Mount tab, so we dont have to unlock mounts on every single characters... Tho with non-resetting servers it's not as bad... Still, easy quick changes and much needed.
- Modern Auction House (Fixes the issue with trolls listing 500 listings of 1 ore/herb). Or if not, part of the Modern AH mechanics.
- Transmorg (you hate it or like it, but it's fun to have your character look how you want... give a menu option to disable transmorg for ppl that want to see the original funky gear mismatches, or for PvP).
- No tokens, or anything that messes economy. A healthy economy is so important.
- Stacks of 200 (for herbs, ore, and a few others).
- Keeping the attunements? Absolutely agreed.
Cross your fingers... I don't expect a return of TBC, but it would sure be nice, and just about the only thing that would get me to sub back again.

tbc had leveling was the best leveling experience i had in wow... even if there would be a tbc server without any raids i would level in it.

fresh wotlk server was almost as good as vanilla launch. they should do the same thing for tbc if people really cry for it. start lvl 1 with prepatch then release tbc 2-4 weeks later.
yea after playing Wotlk classic again and Cata for the first time, i have to say TBC was the best expansion ever. Not too hardcore nor too easy, yet far more fun than Cata or Wrath
Wotlk had better class design, talents & more specs viable both in raiding & PVP but TBC had way, way better 5 mans & attunements
(although doing the same grind on alts gets boring)
It is insane that there are no era servers for tbc or wotlk. It makes literally zero sense business-wise. The two week pre-patch from classic vanilla to tbc was the most fun I've had with the game, just leveling a belf pally, grouping with other belves who were not eligible for a lvl boost to 58. It is a bit regrettable that the classic community is making a conscious push towards demanding fresh vanilla by congregating on Deviate Delight and Zandalar Tribe realm for fake fresh, but while doing so, they are not really talking about era servers for tbc and wotlk. I fear we are ~two years away from tbc era servers, because the company would probably want to hype them in an official setting, such as blizzcon, and the roadmap of the previous blizzcon didn't mention those era servers yet. It is really unfortunate, because all it would take for era servers to get implemented would be Metzen to slam his fist on the table inside the company.
if they were to give a few tbc servers, people would overload them and there would be wait times. best expansion ever. people deny it, but we would have to log on remotely and sit in 8 hour queues. they were not prepared last time, they will not be prepared now. I dislike gdkp's though, not sure if there's a fix for that. they screw up the economy. also, they should gate the character creation on pvp servers to keep population equal

I could see era servers having 1 of each realm type. PVE, PVP, RP, RP-PVP, and possibly experimental HC-PVE, with low-pops (PVE, RP and PVP RP-PVP) cross-realm play enabled. There likely needs to be (at least) 2 PVP realms, because you cannot (afaik) make characters in both factions on a single pvp realm.

most classic era servers are low pop, most hardcore servers are low pop, sod is okay-ish and cata classic servers are the most active of classic servers. switching a few era servers to TBC wouldn't kill anybody.

I considered both TBC and Wotlk to both be great, but after playing wotlk classic I hated it, most boring / easy HCs ever and on top of that grinding Naxx... Only Ulduar was fun. TBC is still gold to play tho, would love to play a classic TBC era server.

Unfortunately there isn't enough population to have 6 versions of the game running at the same. At present we have 5 versions and it's already too much. There should only 1 Classic and 1 Retail imo.

There probably are, there just isn't accurate data on the big picture. A lot of people who would play on those era servers are not even subscribed or actively playing and being counted among those daily active user numbers because the version of WoW they'd be most hyped for isn't available to be played, and official era servers would draw people from the private server scene. SoD will eventually come to an end, much like SoM did, and towards the end of its life cycle the realms are likely very low pop already - the players have gone elsewhere. It's just a matter of how large server populations you are gunning for and if there is cross-realm play or not. A person who really wants to play a specific expansion will head over to private server scene and see if that is any good for them, instead of staying and paying a sub to play an expansion/version that they don't really want to play.

I mean, introducing new servers only further dilutes the playerbase. We have retail, remix, cata classic, SoD, and now we're going to add fresh class and/or fresh tbc? The playerbase cannot support all these different game modes and I don't think it would be popular enough to warrant Blizzard putting resources towards it
I don't think it would be an issue as long as there were only a small amount of servers to choose from. There may be multiple versions available already with Retail, Cata Classic and SoD Classic, but many people don't play all of them. Having the choice of playing both Cata Classic and a TBC Classic means I'd be playing WoW ALL the time between those two, instead of just Cata Classic and then a non-Blizzard game.

Everyone of my friends who quit sod for that didn’t believe me and now nobody of them is playing cata and they don’t come back to sod because they feel like they missed to much for a seasonal server to start again… playing on living flame eu which was the biggest server in the world last phase and I know what you mean it feels kinda dead. You just find ST raids the day after reset. Tww release is when it’s no problem to raidlog and play a bit tww. It depends on when they add new content to sod. If it’s while tww still had hype it’s rip for sod I guess but if they time it good people won’t quit one for the other. But what am I even talking about, blizzard timing things good would be crazy

TBC would be 100% better if Flying was removed. I loved TBC but sadly there are some downsides. Like the fact they made a lot of the old zones in vanilla world kind of redundant.

No they shouldn’t start with this fixing shit. Keep it how it was, it was really fun and if they start changing too much they might make bad decisions that will ruin the game. Blizzard is good at making bad decisions. The only big thing they changed and almost ruined my mage was this anti boosting mechanic they added in phase 2 or 3 where mobs had cc immunity after some time. That’s the only big change they did and it was terrible change that removed mage boosting which was one of the most fun things to do when I had no raid or arena session.
@@Tiemooo59 Sure, but if they did what they did the first time in 2020 they'll just add the wow token again since its in the code. At that point they might as well change stuff. The WoW token and boost for $ already killed it.
@@windatar6351 they added wow token in wotlk, not tbc. Sure the 58 boost was a bad change too, not only the anti boosting mechanic. But the boost at least we only one time and didn’t made my experience of the game worse. Wotlk was a lot worse that I remembered and the addition of wow token completely killed it for me…

No, the people who really want tbc or wotlk are not playing on official, they're playing some other game or on private servers. Opening the era servers would see total number of players grow, there's easily room for a few low to medium pop era realms.

Truthfully I'm good without TBC Realms! I really liked TBC during its initial release in 2005-06 time, but the classic version showed its age. No reason to further fragment the already small wow community (Especially PvP Community). Cata and SOD gonna take turns eradicating each others participation/population with content updates. Also from an arena standpoint, TBC has the worst class balancing of any version of the game (Including Vanilla where there was no Arenas).
