This would have helped me so much if I would’ve come across your info a year ago. I have a 2019 RAV4. The remote app was problematic for me for quite a while. I would try and try on the coldest mornings to start my car through the app and it never would start. I had it in the dealer three times. The last time they thought they fixed it but after a couple days it quit working again. I didn’t do anything with it for a month or so and then thought I would try it again. I guess there was an update because I could not believe it started my car. Now it won’t lock it with the app. It says request could not be completed contact the dealer. My main reason for wanting the remote connect was to start my car. If I had only known that I could’ve started it with my key fob. I searched so many times to get help on the situation. Not sure how I missed your videos. I like how the app shows the tire pressure. Is there anyway to see your pressure in the car? I see the symbol when they are low or high in the car but don’t see the numbers of each tire. I am so glad I found you. I’m still finding out stuff my car does after 3 years. What is the point of starting your car with the remote control and when you open the doors to enter into the vehicle the engine turns off then you will have to turn it on again
The doors should all remain locked when you remote start the car to prevent anyone from opening the doors. When the person with the key fob comes to open the door, the vehicle should recognize the key fob and not shut off. I love remote starting my car, but hate that it shuts itself off as I open the door. Especially for the fact that I am the one with the key fob. You could pull up to anywhere and put the car in park. Then open the door, leave the key fob in the car, walk away from the vehicle and the car will stay running. LMAO!! 🤣 Shouldn't it recognize that you aren't sitting in the driver seat? 🤔 My point is that if you use the remote start the doors should remain locked.. When the person with the key fob comes to open the door the car should remain running after doing so. .
It’s weird my 21 Camry SE hybrid came with the remote connect function disabled on the app, but the remote start function works just fine with the fob (I’m not complaining though since it has some remote start functionality).

On the 2021 Sienna XSE spec sheet it says, "Short Range Key Fob Remote Start (requires active DCM)" So does that mean it would be up to 10years (remote start) but you HAVE TO activate the app access to use it? It's a bit confusing.
You have to have activated the remote start at some point but dont have to keep paying for the app after to keep it from the remote key fob. If it has never had remote connect authorized it will not work after a bit

You have to sign up for the free trial. It will enable the remote connect. Then you will get a code to enter. If it has been reported as sold but not enabled through the app it will not work even if equipped. I would like to know why the security settings make you type in a authentication code every 12 hours even though you have face ID on and you have it marked to keep you signed in to the remote app. when you are trying to get in your car late at night and you have to stand there and get an authentication code then this puts you in danger because your trying to start car before you get there but you have to sign in every 12 hours so the app does no good. Also, how many feet away can you be and still be able to start your car with the car remote, not the app? I have called several times to remote connect and they just say it is a "known" problem and they are working on it. This app is the worst I have ever seen. Maybe you can help me understand!

if you did not opt in for the free trial it will opt you out. you need to opt in for the connected services then the fob will work for free for 10 years.

You pay for something that's in your car, but you can't use it unless you subcribe... So, you paid for it, it's there in the hardware and software, but you can't use what you own unless they milk a bit more money from your cash cow! Great respect for the customer!
You cant use the app unless you pay for it. You can still use the remote start just not the app. There is a cost to maintaining the app and the connection that the app uses which is using cell towers. That is what you are paying for.

I have a 2019 RAV4 limited with remote connect and it has been working fine up until a few weeks ago. The was an app update and after that it stopped working. I deleted the app and reinstalled it and nothing. I called Toyota and spoke with three different reps and no one could help me. I then went back to the dealership and they worked on it for over an hour and they couldn’t help me. Have you come across any one else with this problem and a possible solution. I’m just beside myself. The app works on my iPad but not on my phone. I went so far as to purchase a new phone and still no good. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Why the holy hell would they not just install it on the fob permanently. If I go to sell this car through private sale.. I shouldn’t have to mess around with transferring an app service or explaining to the new buyer that it used to have remote start but doesn’t anymore. This is a feature that EVERYONE uses almost every day. It’s a feature they have to get right. And they’re acting like they have no idea what they’re doing.
You can add the fob receiver if you want. The fob connectivity is tied to the cloud and is free to use the fob for 10 years. They added it for free as the remote connect was allowed to be free for that time after. If you add the receiver then you can use it forever app free

@@wahabgill by definition it has to be able to. If you hit the lock button on the app or the start button it sends a message to Toyota. If you hit the sos button it sends your location to send help. Toyota does not sit there watching you

@@wahabgill they only do it app based and originally if they cut off the app it would lose the remote start feature but they have fixed that so that the majority of them will still remote start from the fob for the next 10 years even if you pay 0. You do have to enable the app and the vehicle for the free trial to have that though. Its actually a better deal cause they don't charge extra for remote start that way where in years past it would have been around 800 to 1000 to have it.

For a 2021 vehicle with almost a 35k msrp I’m thinking Toyota is maximizing those profit margins really well. Great info Steven. The vehicle you demonstrated with is my exact model: platinum blueprint with glazed caramel. I still don't fully understand why the remote connect subscription needs to be active to start the vehicle from a key fob. You would think that the RF signal mechanism which locks/unlocks the car could also start it. Go figure...
When you remote start the suv it turns off when you open de door or unlock the doors?? I hate that should be like others brands..... Go off if you don't have the key with you and tey to move the gear shift...... I make no sense have remote start and restart the car when you get inside.... I'm a big fan of toyota but unfortunately for that feature i have to go with Honda pilot instead
This is wrong. Toyota should be boycotted. Why pay monthly for something you own? The lock/unlock doesnt work either if your not subscribed from what I understand.. Id say rip the auto start out, and tell them to buy it back from you, and charge them a monthly fee lol

@@Cre8tive81 they are basically giving you remote start for free. The old way was a option that would add around 800 to most vehicles if you added it. If you choose not to subscribe you still have the remote start and pay 0. The charges are for maintaining the app plus paying for the cell signal you use to send the messages to the car. Toyota has to pay for access to that
Its a total scam by Toyota. My Honda Pilot 2016 has remote start and my 2019 Toyota Avalon which i bought used in 2022 does not have it? I am quite disappointed

It's a safety feature so someone can't steal your car
The reason the vehicle shuts down is to keep some thief from walking up to your vehicle, opening the door, climbing in and driving away with it! 😎

it will run for 10 minutes and shut off but will only work 2 times before you need to open the door to allow for 2 more times

It was not standard in the 2018 it was an option. The procedure to start it would be the same if it had it.

the 19 does not always have remote start. You probably don't have it.

I have a 2019 RAV4 limited with remote connect and it has been working fine up until a few weeks ago. The was an app update and after that it stopped working. I deleted the app and reinstalled it and nothing. I called Toyota and spoke with three different reps and no one could help me. I then went back to the dealership and they worked on it for over an hour and they couldn’t help me. Have you come across any one else with this problem and a possible solution. I’m just beside myself. The app works on my iPad but not on my phone. I went so far as to purchase a new phone and still no good. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Why the holy hell would they not just install it on the fob permanently. If I go to sell this car through private sale.. I shouldn’t have to mess around with transferring an app service or explaining to the new buyer that it used to have remote start but doesn’t anymore. This is a feature that EVERYONE uses almost every day. It’s a feature they have to get right. And they’re acting like they have no idea what they’re doing.
You can add the fob receiver if you want. The fob connectivity is tied to the cloud and is free to use the fob for 10 years. They added it for free as the remote connect was allowed to be free for that time after. If you add the receiver then you can use it forever app free
2021 RAV4 Prime XSE. Lock, unlock, hazard light functions work well but remote start will not. Error: “Remote command interrupted. Try again” Any advice?

@@wahabgill by definition it has to be able to. If you hit the lock button on the app or the start button it sends a message to Toyota. If you hit the sos button it sends your location to send help. Toyota does not sit there watching you

@@wahabgill they only do it app based and originally if they cut off the app it would lose the remote start feature but they have fixed that so that the majority of them will still remote start from the fob for the next 10 years even if you pay 0. You do have to enable the app and the vehicle for the free trial to have that though. Its actually a better deal cause they don't charge extra for remote start that way where in years past it would have been around 800 to 1000 to have it.
My rav4 came with the free trail but since that has ended the remote start hasn't worked

For a 2021 vehicle with almost a 35k msrp I’m thinking Toyota is maximizing those profit margins really well. Here’s my question which I almost know what the answer is but you’re the boots on the ground guy. Would I be able to switch up to audio plus if I choose to in the future? Or is that a no go? It’s either you buy it with it or forget it. Right?

I still don't fully understand why the remote connect subscription needs to be active to start the vehicle from a key fob. You would think that the RF signal mechanism which locks/unlocks the car could also start it. Go figure...

Hit the lock button 3 times in a row holding on the 3rd. Must hit each time.within 1.5 seconds of each other

When you remote start the suv it turns off when you open de door or unlock the doors?? I hate that should be like others brands..... Go off if you don't have the key with you and tey to move the gear shift...... I make no sense have remote start and restart the car when you get inside.... I'm a big fan of toyota but unfortunately for that feature i have to go with Honda pilot instead
If that is your only issue then why would you change brands? Seems like what you lose in resale reliability comforts etc would keep you from changing

You pay for the app access. There is a cost to keep the app that is what you are paying for. Technology is not free

@@Cre8tive81 they are basically giving you remote start for free. The old way was a option that would add around 800 to most vehicles if you added it. If you choose not to subscribe you still have the remote start and pay 0. The charges are for maintaining the app plus paying for the cell signal you use to send the messages to the car. Toyota has to pay for access to that

Its a total scam by Toyota. My Honda Pilot 2016 has remote start and my 2019 Toyota Avalon which i bought used in 2022 does not have it? I am quite disappointed
