You guys really believe this? It’s classic cgi. look how the camera drops down then suddenly the guy looks computerized and has a fake electric motor sound
@@droptopmaids8474 The camera has a long exposure rate; it blurs any time there's a quick enough pan. Besides, if you check the other videos on the channel, you see their material choices, motor selection (with motors you yourself can buy on the open market in places like McMaster-Carr & Mouser!), electronic control system testing, mechanical rigging, these people documented enough of their process that you could even make one of these yourself based on the information they've presented.
The video may be fake but Leonardo drew them and a flying dinosaur weighed 20 times the size of a human and had the same size wings so it is possible to fly with those wings but idk if the video is fake
this looks really cool! I can't wait for this project to "take off" *shot* Also. I personally think that people don't understand just how much effort these people would have had to go through IF it were a fake video, especially considering that they showed us the mechanisms in previous videos, after all.
@Chad McCracken So I made this comment 9 years ago LMAO So, I was wrong and it's definitely fake. You can tell because the camera looks at the ground before/after the flight to hide a jump cut to animation. Plus the shaky cam hides cgi imperfections It's still quite impressive what needed to be done to fake this, since they still needed to make the actual suit and animate it
The problem is that flapping fixed wings tend to work against themselves. You need either more rotation on the upstroke to minimize drag, or a hinge just outside of center on each wing to create a small "peak" on the upstroke like a birds wing. For some really good advice on how to make it work, show this to an ornithologist (bird expert) and ask them if they have any ideas on improving it. I can't think of no-one else that would be more helpful.
So, no updates from the creator after this whatsoever across any of his media platforms or his website in the description? I know this is edited but I feel like he was buried for discovering something he shouldn't have like anyone who invents the water engine lol. Suppose he just never made any more content or got a legit job from this maybe?
He just needs something like spring on legs to take a big leap while running and a mechanism like steering for wings to move more widely even with less movement
I am not even necessarily aiming for actual flight - it would be good enough to be able to fall very slowly, so that you get a sort of taste of flight. Imagine if you for example could glide over a small lake after jumping off a tree or something (under reasonably safe conditions, of course), that would be awesome.
Ignore the naysayers. It's fascinating work you've done with great craftsmanship and impressive engineering, truly inspirational. It's sad that some lurk on UA-cam for nothing more than flaming others and proving how little some humans have evolved -- and how little productive there is in their sad, crippled lives. You're a breath of fresh air and a reason to smile. Thanks so much, and I look forward to following your work.
Need some kind of wing between the legs that he can spread out once he gets off the ground and the wind ratio will be even for the whole body. I bet you that would give a consistent flight
Hahaha... Love this. Amazing what people try to achieve. You so can tell they had a great time producing it, but the Cgi after the camera went to the ground an came back up is really not so well done. Especially since they do it a second time after he tried. But amazing. I guess they needed some advertisement for their company! Good work!
It's easier to make a movie about going to Mars than it is to actually go there. I believe in the reality of what humans can currently do. Not fantasy.
This may need some sort of pedal mechanism that you can shift to when you are airborne, both for hands and feet. Of course that would drastically increase the weight in whole, so a larger wingspan would be needed.
Sorry trolls of youtube, you do not deserve to comment on this mans dream.. He has put a lot of effort into this and you can see it from the other videos... Every step from the design process to the implementation. You did a great job jarnosmeets80, and it is obvious by the way people say it looked fake. I will be laughing when one of them gets shot and goes to the ER and the doctors there say "That's CGI, GTFO troll I got unrealistic video games to learn from"
the wing doesn't inflate when he is in the air, theres no way that wing would hold up anybody. why do the guys run around behind him like their scared of somethhing. No reason to run behind him, if anything help him run with it.
no guys. the camera moves down and back up at 1:50 for the switch from real to animated, check the reflectivity of the wing before and after the move, they have swapped it out with an animation. a pretty good one, i mean its fooled many many many people but it's not perfect. can tell they used a single cycle of the wing. motor sounds aren't authentic to a small brush-less motor. it just looks milky and too shiny and smooth.
I know this is fake And the other video but You can't just go up and down with the wings you need to watch slow motion birds flying videos and a lot of bird flying videos so you know how birds flap their wings and fly make a real video
You actually got some pretty good air on those jumps! Life the comment before said, maybe showing this to a bird expert may help you perfect the design.
Birds have the ability to “micro-adjust” their weight and trajectory “at will” rather than having the same static mechanical movement to generate lift..... while this will get you momentarily off the ground, it won’t let you control how high or far. But still this is a really cool project and hope it is still going after a decade

When you are airborne the wings don't seem to have the strength to flap as good as when you are running, they may need more power to flap while holding your weight. Also you are going to need a lot of body strength to hold your self horizontal while flying.

With the design of wings adding a small parachute above the wings would assist with the flapping of wings . As the parachute pulls up having string attached running down under the wing coming back up pulling down on the wings .
I know that I don't know much about this project because I only recently found out about it, but I thought it might be worth suggesting that you guys try to put in a joint, similar to an elbow joint, like most birds have in their wings. From my understanding, it could potentially make lifting the wings less likely to push you back down a bit because the parts lifting would have a smaller surface area and pushing the wings down would lift people just as effectively.
