I've literally never heard of intentional parenting and I dont even have kids but I'm glad to see there are people who dont just give in to the "theres no parenting handbook" cop out. Let's try to be intentional in how we parent. THANK YOU!
Thank you for sharing! When I think of "Intentional Parenting" I think of parents who understand the true commitment that they're making when they decide to bring a life into the world(adoption etc). Unfortunately I think many people feel pressured, obligated,or view parenthood as some type of necessary accomplishment. It's like something they check off on a checklist. It is so much deeper than that. When I work with families now I intentionally look for families that have intentionally made a true sacrifice( i.e shorten their work hours) for their children. Because they understand how crucial their position and involvement in their child's life is. It's not a judgment thing, it's more about me understanding after 20 years of caring for other people children, that no matter how many hours(40-80hrs)I cared for that child the biggest influence and teacher in their lives are their parents. I hope this made sense lol!!! Sorry my writing is horrible.
I know this is an old video but wow... I was not raised in a very stable home. My parents were not raised in stable homes. My husband was not raised in a stable home. My kids will never know that life, if it’s the last thing I do on this earth the cycle of abuse will end with us. 💜
Thank you for this video. My husband and i are planning a family now and we both had less than ideal childhoods. When i look at the issues my parents have, I can see those same problems with my grandparents.
Wow! I'm pregnant with my first baby and this resonates so deeply. This is exactly what I've been searching for as to how I view the way I want to bring my child into this world. End the ancestral trauma, starting with myself. Thank you so much 🙏💜
So beautiful and heartfelt. This is so needed. I'm a new mama to a one year old boy, and my husband and I have had many talks on how we want to parent... I heard it once phrased that our job is not to raise good (i.e. obedient) children; rather, our job as parents is to raise children who become good adults. I think that goes hand-in-hand with conscious parenting! Our son will model what he sees and hears. If we want to raise him consciously, we must first look inward to our motivations/biases/triggers/etc, adjust our mindset and raise him with a plan. We cannot just react as life hits us. THANK YOU so much for sharing!
I need help with this. I have been horribly traumatized back to back in the last 3 years. The most recent issues have put me on edge and it’s hurting me and my parenting abilities 😞 I want to stop it. I feel tired and unmotivated. Also, one if not both of my kiddos are autistic.
I read a quote recently that was “Heal yourself before you have kids, so that your kids don’t have to heal from your parenting.” Fantastic video.
Yes!
