Go back to where Junior was complaining to Tony's mother about Christopher and Brandon disrespecting Junior with the hijackings. His mother basically told Junior he could 'talk to' Christopher, but that she was not ok with him actually being eliminated. 'The other one, though' - Brandon - and she shrugged, meaning she had no problem with making an example of Brandon.
This is why I laugh when people hate on story telling devices like voice over or exposition because they say the audience is smart enough to understand. No they’re not. There’s a large percentage of the population that needs their hands held through a story.
That last funeral scene has always been one of my favorites of the whole series. That look on AJ’s face says it all as his whole image of his father gets blown away. It’s almost like we’re seeing the death of his innocence in that one moment.
The 103 ending was good too, meadows choir singing intercut with the mock execution and the killing of Brenden... pan to junior. after These two episodes people knew this was going to an epic show.
Plus the song, Mazzy Star - Look On Down From The Bridge. Great funeral song, but it also fits perfectly with the death of AJ's perception of his father.
Uncle Junior is the brother of Tony's father, so Uncle Junior is Tony's real uncle. The kids called Jackie uncle, but Jackie wasn't related to Tony; Jackie was Tony's boss. The kids call all of Tony's close associates uncle.
To answer some of your questions: 1- If you watch the last scene of ep3 with Livia (Tony's mother) and Uncle Junior, Jun was complaining about Christopher and Brandon hijacking his routes. Livia said don't do anything to Christopher but it's ok to take action against "the other one" (Brandon). So that was what prompted Junior to kill Brandon and mock execute Chris (to scare him) 2- As for Tony hiding in the hallway- the man he saw was Silvio, his #2 or right-hand man (you'll see him a lot in the strip club scenes). The reason he's so worried about getting caught is cause it's a huge no no for mob men to speak to a psychiatrist. They'd think he's a snitch telling all their business and it would likely get him killed. Even though Silvio is not an opp (he's probably his most trusted associate) it would still be risky if word got out. Silvio might accidentally tell someone and if word got to Uncle Junior, it would get real bad.
also on the note of answering questions. Pretty sure Junior is his actual uncle. His fathers brother I think. The guy Meadow was saying "why do you think we call him uncle and hes not related" was Uncle Jackie. Jackie Aprile, who was the head of the family and the one who died from cancer. Junior though Im pretty sure is blood. I could be wrong its been a while since i've seen the show
Exactly 1- Livia and Coratto (Junior) have known each other for decades. That unspoken gesture said enough, Christopher's an angel and Brandon is expendable. 2- Also, seeing a shrink is an obvious weakness. Tony's manhood, strength, and leadership can't be an issue. Silvio is quite a few years older. He might understand...others would not.
"If a made guy was found out to be seeing a psychiatrist, he and the psychiatrist would be found dead in the trunk of a car within a week." - Michael Franzese (former caporegime in the Colombo crime family), when asked about the Tony-Dr. Melfi relationship on The Sopranos

@@OcGurl81 Carmela was subtly talking down to her the whole episode though. Like when she sees their new house, she says “I love the coziness!” Translation: it’s so tiny compared to my mansion.
It’s more than that everyone…when Charmaine says she was with Tony over that summer when he & Carmella were on the “outs”, she ends it with saying she’s happy with her decision. Carmela then realized Tony offered her Carmela’s lifestyle as a mob wife and she rejected Tony basically giving that lifestyle to Carmela instead. So it stung her hard!
Junior is Tony’s real uncle. But ironically Christopher isn’t Tony’s blood nephew. Tony had a bond with Christopher’s now long dead father and is like Christopher’s “adopted” uncle.
The show was shot all over north new jersey including many many sceans in my home town including the pork store and and surrounding towns I went back and watched the whole series 20 years later and got so much more out of it the second time
19:00 and on... that was payback dished out by Junior for killing that robbing that truck with the Italian suits and killing the driver. Go back to the scene where Junior and Mother Soprano are talking. Livia basically told Junior what to do about the problem. She's the real gangster!
Oh yeah, this series has some of the best writing and story telling ever for television. It's why it's a classic and so immensely re-watchable. Cheers 🍺

I don't remember if you guys have done The Godfather but in this Sopranos episode there's a beautiful little reference at 26:46 where Tony deliberately drops the stapler on the street. This is an homage to The Godfather, where Michael is instructed to blatantly drop the pistol that he would use to do a hit. Once you've seen it in the movie, re-watch the Sopranos scene and you'll crack up.
So happy you started the Sopranos! the most intriguing part of the show for me has always been the concept of a Mafia boss seeing a therapist, and the dynamics of their professional relationship. Christopher is such an idiot that he got them confused by introducing the Meadow/crystal thing. They introduce so many characters with very little background right off the bat, and keep several story lines going at once. It's not easy to get everything going on.

I am SO enjoying watching this with you guys! I loved this show the first time I saw it but it's better seeing it again& your reactions to it. Looking forward to the next episodes.
The scaring Christopher and killing Brandon was the direct result of Uncle Junior's conversation with Livia (Tony's mom) wherein Livia said Christopher could use a talking to but warned Junior off from whacking him but just shrugged about Brandon (indicating, essentially: go ahead and whack him).
The conversation between Uncle Junior and Olivia explained why Chris was given a talking to and why Brendan was killed. After being warned to STOP hijacking the trucks, Brendan hit it anyway, so Junior had to send a message to Tony's crew! Chris mistakenly thought it was because he gave meth to Meadow.
Tony gets the idea, from Dr. Melfi, of making someone seem like they’re in charge, when dealing with his mom, but he uses it on Junior. Perfect! Love you guys. Happy your reviewing my fav show of all time! It only gets better and better.
Artie Buco is the only person who could messed with Tony and can get away with it. Aside for not being involved with the Mafia, they are also childhood friends.
Uncle Junior is Tony's real uncle. Tony's deceased father's brother. Meadow was referring to Uncle Jackie the head of the mob boss family this episode when she said "why do you think we call him uncle & he isn't our real uncle" Tony decided to take Dr Melfi's advice when she said in dealing with seniors "sometimes you have to let them think they are in control" Tony concedes to his uncle Junior so he avoids a mob war, gets uncle Junior to agree to let him have certain areas to run so he doesn't lose face but then he plans to runs things behind the scenes. If uncle Junior is the head of the family that will also make uncle Junior the target of the FBI's criminal investigations into the family which takes the 🎯 target off of him. Uncle Junior as the head of the family is a win win win right now for Tony 🤔
One of the best , if not the best series ever . Tony’s complicated life affects everyone around him and rarely as a positive His mother won numerous awards for her portrayal before her actual death
It’s just a great series. Hope you both enjoy it. It’s the parent of all the great shows that followed. Ground breaking for its day. I’m reviewing it again with you both. Still holds up.
Tiny going to a psych would be viewed as weakness by the family (mob family) and his cohorts would be afraid he's giving away their secrets. And Uncle Junior is Tony's real uncle. He's Tony's dad's brother. That's why he's close to Olivia, Tony's mom.

The Sopranos and Oz were two HBO series that blew my mind. They knew how to make you fascinated and sympathize with bad people. Oz is another I'd suggest. Set in a prison. You'll even see some familiar faces. Tony's wife Carmella plays a guard. Even if you don't react to it. It could still be good to watch for yourselves.

Lobsters in the back? So thats why strip clubs always have that fishy smell in the air. or does the mob think ahead and use lobster dinners to cover up the fishy stripper smell?
Ok .. idk why I just thought of it, Arrested Development. ..very underrated comedy story line, kinda sitcomish but more a story about this dysfunctional family and the dad trying to save the family business.. 🤷♂️🤦♂️👍
Asia and BJ, I highly recommend after you finish up on the channel with the sopranos that you watch sons of anarchy, it was the next best thing after sopranos a lot of hidden references in sons of anarchy that came from sopranos and it's a good story
The actor that played the Father In Law that called Toby a monster, is the actor that was in Goodfellas that had sold tupees with the commercial jumping in the pool.
Otis worries that someone will steal his collectibles while he’s at the falls. So he postpones leaving his house for as long as possible. Door Dash costs a lot, Otis.
Ok - you two didn't pick up on when Uncle Junior talked to Tony's mother, Liva. Junior asked Livia what he should do about Christopher Moltisanti and Brendan Felone in regard to hijacking the trucks. Livia said, "Tony always loved Christopher like a son - and so do I, Junior. Maybe Christopher could use a talking to, you know. But the other one, Felone, I don't know him." That's code for, "Whack 'em." Livia advised Junior to scare Christopher and kill Felone. And, by the way, Asia, you have the best smile.
Reelin' with Asia and BJ I hope that y'all can review sons of anarchy and start watching that soon and put that on the podcast. That was the next best thing after the sopranos
The Sopranos is quite literally one of the funniest shows I've ever seen and it's not even supposed to be a comedy (more like a family & crime drama). I feel they don't catch on to tons of the jokes, one-liners, wit, sarcasm, frustration-humour, dry-humour, etc. It's OK though, still enjoying their Sopranos (and Dimash) reactions.
Awesome seeing u guys enjoying this show, but if you're gonna understand it you're gonna need to really pay attention to details, and u gotta be able to read between the lines. When Italians in this show talk to each other, theyre really good at saying things without actually SAYING it lol
The first time I watched The Sopranos I didn’t like Tony’s mother Livia. On my second watch through, I realized that she is the most stone cold gangster on the whole show.
no unclr jr is tony's real uncle. he's tony's fathers (Johnny Soprano) brother. meadow meant the other guys like Jackie, Silvio, n Paulie, they're the "uncles" but not related
So Jr. got offended that the people he helped with the stolen truck shipment were thanking Tony and not him. So he wanted to make a point that Tony shouldn't be messing with what Jr considers his people. He wanted to kill both Christopher and Brandon and consulted Tony's mother about it ( who Jr. is friends with). Tony's mom said don't you dare kill Christopher cause she loves him like a grandson....maybe he could use "a talking to" but don't kill him. As far as Brandon? Well Tony's mom didn't know or vouche for him, so Jr scared Christopher and killed Brandon.
Silvio is not a street acquaintance of Tony. That was the guy he almost ran into at the hospital. Sil is Tony's second in command. He was visiting Jackie, and he was right next to Tony talking business at Jackie's funeral. Tony is the real boss of the family. Uncle June has the title only. Jackie was the one that died, Uncle Junior is the new boss. Uncle Jackie isn't the real Uncle. Uncle Junior is Tony's dads brother.
My dad's a retired shrink. All shrinks see another shrink. It's part of the job, or they'd go crazy from all the crazies, so to speak. I know they don't like that word.
Hey BJ, it’s uncle Junior, not uncle Jackie, Jackie passed away from cancer! Just a little correction😂❤️❤️😁 if you loved breaking bad, you are definitely going to love the Sopranos
Just to clarify this psychiatrist situation - there is this guy, former mafia Michael Franseze, he is doing some UA-cam channel with film reviews, mob life stories etc. He said about sopranos, that if there ever be a boss of the family who talk to psychiatrist, he would end in a trunk of a car with that doctor.
Go back to where Junior was complaining to Tony's mother about Christopher and Brandon disrespecting Junior with the hijackings. Lobsters in the back? So thats why strip clubs always have that fishy smell in the air. or does the mob think ahead and use lobster dinners to cover up the fishy stripper smell?
The way you laughed to the ZZ Top line....was the best!
Ok .. idk why I just thought of it, Arrested Development. ..very underrated comedy story line, kinda sitcomish but more a story about this dysfunctional family and the dad trying to save the family business.. 🤷♂️🤦♂️👍
Oh nice! This will be quite the journey for you both! Enjoy the ride, we all did!
Asia and BJ, I highly recommend after you finish up on the channel with the sopranos that you watch sons of anarchy, it was the next best thing after sopranos a lot of hidden references in sons of anarchy that came from sopranos and it's a good story
I forgot how good the characters were. I binge watched it like 8 years ago
Just a little Sopranos trivia, in every single episode someone is eating something. From episode one to the finale, food is always featured.
The actor that played the Father In Law that called Toby a monster, is the actor that was in Goodfellas that had sold tupees with the commercial jumping in the pool.
"Morrie" Kessler in Goodfellas, yes indeed.
Otis worries that someone will steal his collectibles while he’s at the falls. So he postpones leaving his house for as long as possible. Door Dash costs a lot, Otis.
great ending, AJ is heartbroken
Jackie was the leader who passed away. Uncle Junior is the one that is now in charge. Uncle June is Tony's dad's brother.
46:37 It is, it's his dad's brother 👍👍👍👍
The comedy writing on this show was second to none. It gets funnier with every watch.
Yes to this
The Sopranos is quite literally one of the funniest shows I've ever seen and it's not even supposed to be a comedy (more like a family & crime drama). I feel they don't catch on to tons of the jokes, one-liners, wit, sarcasm, frustration-humour, dry-humour, etc. It's OK though, still enjoying their Sopranos (and Dimash) reactions.
I’ve been waiting for you to continue with The Sapranos. Really enjoying your reaction on this one! 😉😁
lol that was a real mob website that came up when you searched mafia back in the late 90’s/early 2000’s. I remember finding it as a kid
And NO ,, JUNIOR is his REAL UNCLE !!! That is his father’s brother! Come on guys,,, pay attention LMAO😂😂😂❤️
One of my favorite shows
Show went out of its way to show junior was behind it and they're like who did it... Haha
every guy wants to jump out the window listening to Tony's mom.
Remember what his therapist said about letting kids think they are in charge same for uncles.
What you missed was Lydia giving Uncle Junior permission to whack Christopher's friend for hijacking the trucks.
Uncle Junior sent a message for the hijackings. Chris got a beating; Brendon got wasted.
So Jr. got offended that the people he helped with the stolen truck shipment were thanking Tony and not him.
Italian mobsters usually own a restaurant or coffee house. SEE COMEDY "THE FRESHMAN" HILARIOUS!!!!!
The guy at the dentist was Sylvio the #2 in Tony's crew.
Livia said Christopher needed a "talking-to"...that was it.
I believe you've reacted to Goodfellas.. Tony's shrink played the mob wife. Her name is Lorraine Bracco.
A lot of The Sopranos characters were in Goodfellas. Christopher was Spider. The waiter kid Tommy shot.
Yes and last time I watched Goodfellas, I noticed a few scenes where Paulie (from the sopranos) is in Big Paulie's crew in Goodfellas!
Yep. And I don’t want to spoil it but a couple important characters you haven’t been introduced to yet in The Sopranos we’re also on Goodfellas.
My dad's a retired shrink. All shrinks see another shrink. It's part of the job, or they'd go crazy from all the crazies, so to speak. I know they don't like that word.
I Fkin love you guys! Thanks for making my day so much better now im home from work!
You guys are so funny Lolol you gotta really pay attention to the dialogue in the show, it’s when Junior was talking to Tony’s mother
This show is perfect from beginning to end!!!
FUN FACT: "Bargaining" comes after "anger" and before "acceptance!"
