- Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo Yoga 2 11 inch ultraportable 11.6" laptop. This is the smallest Yoga and it runs full Windows 8.1 64 bit (not RT) on a 2.16GHz quad core Intel Pentium N3520 CPU with 4 gigs of RAM and a 500 gig HDD. It has the 360 degree Yoga hinge so the machine works in tablet, laptop, presentation and tent modes. It has a 1366 x 768 IPS multi-touch display, an HD webcam with mic, single band WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth and it weighs 2.8 pounds. It sells for $599 on Lenovo's website and $499 from Best Buy.
I own a Yoga 2 11 Clementine. You have to get an SSD in this from day 1. The HDD is the main (and big) bottle neck in the whole unit. After that I was very pleased with my laptop. Removing the bottom cover was a piece of cake. Get T5 Torx head screw driver and preferably the thinner Samsung EVO SSD; however, the 7.1mm SSD I purchased fit with no issues.
+Harky a 9mm ssd fit in this? i thought the original hard drive is 5mm? planning on switching
It's 7.1mm (Ultra2 SSD). 9mm was incorrect. No issues with 7.1mm. Typing on the same laptop now.

I bought this specific model a few months ago, during a sale, for under $400. Compared to other more expensive models that I've used, this is one of the best 2-in-1 laptop I've ever used/owned. For the price, I'm surprise it functions, works a lot better, and battery lasts longer than some of the more expensive Microsoft Surface (Non-Pro & Pro) models. And it comes with actual fully operating Windows 8.1, not the RT version. Many will say you can't play games on this laptop because it only runs a Pentium N3520 and does not have enough processing power. Unless they are talking about full blown, graphic intensive PC games, I call that BS. I upgraded the 500GB HDD to a 1TB HDD and fill it up with thousands upon thousands of my PS1, PS2, PSP, Super Nintendo, Nintendo Gamecube, & Sega Saturn games and they runs as smooth as a hot knife through butter at full screen. Doesn't get hot either. It's sure as hell easier and a lot more convenient to use this while in bed than my hot air blowing HP laptop.

I just got this laptop and I love it. I just found out it wasn't full hd but its fine. I still love it. pretty fast. I watch UA-cam videos in 1080p. And to me it still looks great. I love it.

The windows surface is more or less a better tablet than the Yoga. Mainly because of the freedom and accuracy you get with the pen. Yes, you can buy a stylus for the Yoga, but the friction and inaccuracy is annoying.

Nice review...i find it interesting that Lenovo is going the Acer way, meaning not trying to use Windows 8 RT. Acer used the full Windows from the start with it's portable devices (Tablets/Aspire P3)....i'd like to see a comparison of this one with the Acer Switch 10 which is also for people travelling. I need your advice. I'm between this notebook and the Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series. I will mostly use it as tablet but in some extreme cases maybe i will use paintshop programm for my job. Will it be any of these two capable of running such a programm? Or is there anything else you could propose. I need a low bugdet laptop.

Lisa, complete newb here. I love your reviews! Is this yoga 2 the same thing as the Lenovo 11s? What would be your best pic for general web surfing, photo viewing (need a good screen, will be used MOSTLY to show my customers product pictures), email, word documents, AND cost $500? I would like a 13.3", but am ok with 11" screen. Must have the fold back screen! I have been looking at the Lenovo 11s and the hp ash pavilion x360 13.3. What's your pic between those two, and is there another choice I overlooked?

The description is off. Best Buy sells this product for $499 as a part of Blue Label, meaning no one else can sell it.
The $599 model that Lenovo sells includes 16 GB SSD. I'm assuming it is used as a caching drive.

Hi Lisa! Have you tried the yoga 3 11 yet? I was thinking to buy one but read so many negative critics about the new M processor how incapable of running multiple windows in a browser and such otherwise easy tasks. What would be your advise to buy within this price range? (11" or 13")
Does this come with Microsoft Office and all those things? I'm in my last year of high school now and going into college, will this be good for school? Having had the Asus T100 and the Lenovo yoga 2 11. The lenovo wins by far. The Asus T100 looks cheap compared to the lenovo, the hinges do not feel as sturdy and although my T100 is still in one piece, I had issues with space and updates. It is very problematic and the screen is smaller than the lenovo. It feels just a little bit lighter but it's not worth the price or the effort of owning one. Applications lagged a lot more or refused to open. The Lenovo is a much better choice for a student or someone on the run.

The 11s comes with a 3rd gen processor BUT a 128SSD ($400-refurbished) vs Yoga 2 11 that comes with a 4th gen processor with 500GB ($600). You save $200 and gain an SSD. Isnt it obviously a better buy or does the 3rd gen processor really makes it a no go? am I missing something here? thank you in advance!

You do know the Vaio Tap 11 has a i core based Pentium CPU right and not the Atom based one in this model. It's the Flip 11 with the Atom based Pentium CPU.
yoga 11 have the full windows version, named yoga 11s ;)
I would buy this 11 inch yoga if it had last years black mat finish (and black around the keyboard, not just on the shell, not a fan of the silver)1080p, SSD, double the battery life, and running Chrome OS.

I use windows most of time. I can install parallel windows with mac but it is better to go with windows powered laptop. I need a laptop for home and collage use plus powerful enough to handle some work.
Macbook pro is excellent but can you suggest me some windows laptop(as thin and light as possible) which can compete with price and power of macbook pro.
How about the Dell XPS 15? It's job in life is to compete with the MacBook Pro 15" Retina. We reviewed it about a week ago.

khanalprabhat Asus Zenbook UX301LA high end config with Iris 5100 graphics. We reviewed that a few months back. Portable like the MacBook Air but with the brains of the 13" Retina MacBook Pro.

How does this stack up to the asus t100? Is it that much faster or is it reasonable to save the 100+$ difference?
The Lenovo has a sturdier build, a faster SATA storage interface and is a bit easier to upgrade. The Asus T100 looks cheap and is relatively cheap, but it has a higher res screen and a two piece design that are tempting.

Теодор Наков I think you mean the Acer Aspire Switch 10. Between the two, I have to choose the Lenovo Yoga. The Acer Aspire looks cool and all, but in the long run, it's very cramped to work on. Seriously. You're working on a 10 inch screen. But for a tablet, the Acer Aspire feels more like a tablet than the Yoga.

My current Yoga 11 has really bad screen retention, I was wondering if this one has the same problem? I know that it was a common problem for the my model. (I have the full windows 8 model, not the RT)

yoga is kind of one of the few laptop style that can exist and go through the time of windows 8 or kind of the "new age" coz of its transform ability.

An Average Gamer I bought a yoga 2 and i was very unsatisfied with iy, even the i5 version. The screen resolution wasn't enough for me. Surface Pro2 would be the better choice for me

I have this and it gets very hot as well as the battery life is only about 1.5 hours. I've had it for a few months now, bought secondhand from Amazon. What can i do?
That's not normal. I get 3-4 hours battery depending on screen brightness and usage. You should have that looked at.

That N3520 is actually very impressive. 7.5W fanless cpu performs just as well if not better than Core i3 cpus from not that long ago.
A 2013 Pentium 2117U is slower than this guy and that cpu does use a fan.
Too bad it is a slower freq @ single channel.
Can you connect it via HDMI to external monitor (TV) and run a full HD (1920x1080)?
I've hooked up a micro HDMI to VGA adapter to it and it runs just fine without scaling issues. I'm not sure about RCA, however.

Surface pro 2 if u can find a new on in sealed box or at least refurbished by microsft and microsft only and make sure its at least 128 gb.
Will this handle photoshop ok? The guy at bestbuy told me it couldn't and to spend an extra $100 on the i3 model.

Anybody has a laptop with the same processor? I feel like going with pentium because i3 is way too expensive... Can the cpu with 4gb ram handle like 10 tabs in google chrome, with skype opened? How about gaming too. I usually play s4 league, but not everybody plays it so I'm not sure how it plays. Oh also, can it handle 1080p videos in youtube?
Kahlo kahlow league is okay about like 40 fps on everything low at 720p and csgo runs okay as long as there is not a lot of people. Multitasking is alright but 10 tabs in chrome will probably bog it down because of the ram limit.

Worst laptop I've ever owned. Even with an SSD upgrade, it's not strong enough to run Google Chrome to browse the web without lag
PLZZZZZ dont buy this, I got one of these (yoga 2 13 inch pro) with everything maxed out basically the most expensive one and its a piece of SHIT, problems with headphone jack, SHIT wifi, SHIT display and fake resolution by putting pixels in a different way, problems with some yellow colors, the vibrator for the windows touch button makes loud noise,shit speakers and many more that I lost the count. you have only two choice, Macbook Air (which I prefer) or the Dell XPS ultrabook.
The Yoga 2 11 is very different in specs and price from the Yoga 2 Pro. I have the Yoga 2 11 and love it. That is what is being reviewed here.
I would rather go for the x1 carbon.
***** I recommend not to, after this marketing trick they done to me with this ultrabook I will never allow myself to buy anything with the brand Lenovo on it because I respect my money and hard work.
