What is the link to the description of the Diablo doing? You know?
Watching that lazy 1/2 shift makes me glad I switched to a Corvette servo. If you're thinking about changing it, do it. You'll love the difference
Finally an articulate review. Some of those other reviews are meaningless.
Agree 100%
The guy from Boston was sorta helpful..
For real tho
Dude thank god for you you saved my life. I was messing around with the tuner and couldn’t figure out what I got wrong until I heard u mention the dod afm and what that meant for my problem which was only 4 cylinders firing
The tune is in when first loaded up but the more you drive and how you drive after you tune it makes big difference. Its gets better as you drive. I have same tuner but on 15 6.2 8 speed Denali Sierra.

Thanks for the tune video. I've been looking at tuners. Your video helped a ton! You covered most all the questions I had. Thanks again & keep up the good work!!
Hp tuners much better.
@@larrysgarage1682 thanks. I'll check it out. Really appreciate the tip.
But if you don't know what your doing, you can really mess up your vehicle with hp
My 2011 Sierra LC9 run 0-60 in 3.1 sec, tops out at 213mph stock. My secret mod for the 572 rear wheel hp is that I use rainx wipers with light weight windshield washer fluid topped off with super white low beam bulbs. My truck is pretty much the Best I know it, but I don't want to waste my breath here Man I simply need to make absolutely certain you're aware of my trucks brutal dominance, I'm going to need to hear it from you along with 1000 dollars because that's what everyone is doing and it'd be the right thing to do 😎🇺🇸👍
Those trucks are quick asf anyway
if you turn off torque limiting, will it burn rubber from a standing start? One of the disappointing things about post 2000 vehicles is little low end torque. I miss the 50s and 60s muscle cars.
Traction control will also limit tire spin on a hard launch so try and turn it off . On my 09 if I turn it off it will spin the tires from a dead stop both of them being it has a limited slip and 3:42 gears plus it's a crew cab but I agree low end torque could be better but with the stock tune that's not going to happen . My old 71 Dodge utility line which Chevy and Ford call a short box with a mild build 440 with a 727 trans and a 3:55 sure grip in the back with 11 inch wide tires on the back will smoke the back tires at a 30 mph roll on lol but then again it's making 500 HP and well over 500ftlbs of torque down in the 4,000- 6,500 range with 9:5:1 compression on pump gas with old 906 iron heads that have had some work done to them . The other thing you have to remember is these newer trucks are quite a bit heavier than the old ones were especially the 1/2 tons I noticed compared to my old Dodge and my 82 Chevrolet square body.
@@peteloomis8456 My '05 Silverado doesn't seem to have traction control. On a particular hill with a stop sign, if it's raining and I start up that hill too fast, the tires will spin because the road is slick. I've been reading on truck forums that the Vortec 6 liter engine doesn't have all that much low end torque. Seems an odd choice for a truck with a trailer towing package.
The thing I was comparing to was a rental Ford F450 from Home Depot about ten years ago. I was shocked at how fast that truck lurched forward and spun the tires.
233k miles and still chugging along! nice!
good video man. Love the hoodie as well. I have most of their hoodies and that one is one of my favorites
This helped a lot, getting one soon
Nice video chevy all day
Favorite youtuber by far keep up the good work👍🏼
Ey buddy nice video I have a cuestión when you do some modifications to the truck like long tube headers and cam this is working ?
I thought the tune had to read parameters from your ECU awhile and it took about 100 miles to get the full benefits?
When I called diablo they said i didnt have to unplug my aftermarket stereo
Thank god lol
Lol I was so bummed 5 minutes ago. Did not want to disconnect my screen! Woooo crisis diverted!
Had a mini heart attack when I heard him say that in the video
Planning on doing this same delete. So I don’t need to worry about changing the cam and lifters or the oil valley cover?
@BTGPerformance When you installed the tune did you happen to have a remote start security system installed? Did that cause problem like the stereo?
Dope video man. Can i do this same thing with my 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 do you think??
FYI......do not tune while truck is in 4 wheel drive. I made that mistake and it scared the hell out of me.
Did you abs light happen to come on and stay on after you used the tune on your truck? Because mine did as soon as i did the 87 octane tune and i dont know how to get it to go away?
Question I saw you gotta register the tuner how does that work? Do I need a computer??
Nice Jacket!! I see you Lol thanks for this video
So if you have aftermarket remote start do you need to disconnect before tuning? And if you do disconnect and tune, will there be a problem where you have to reprogram remote start after tuning?
Did the tuner work well with MPG and power on your truck? I have the same truck as you pretty much and my truck is a dog on my mud graps.
Will this work in a 99 Silverado 4.8? Worth doing? Need the trans tune for sure
Good day sir I have a 2009 Chevy Tahoe 2 Wheel Dr. 5.3 I put a brand new motor in this vehicle two weeks ago it has a supercharger Procop supercharger bigger injectors they came with the set and I also have the Diablo sport tuner I bought this vehicle from a family friend and I don’t know how to use the tuner I’m scared to change anything in the vehicle but it runs really really rich can you point me in any directions thank you very much Michael US military
What was the count 0-60 before and after???
What about the way the transmission reacts with the AFM off? Mine Shifts weird. Doing research to see what works best for a 2013 Silverado.
I have experienced this as well
Did you do the update on it before connecting it the truck? Mine asked to update before install
I have a ShiftPower throttle response. It just plugs in at the gas pedal. Do i need to remove it before using the Diablo tuner ? And i heard that the torque management ahould be left on cuz these transmissions dont like the toque management off.
I live in VA also i wanna vet the diablo tuner for my dodge but i have a feeling ill mess it up
Hey man, im gonna do headers (i have a cai now) im hoping to make 300whp on my truck, should i buy a diablo tuner or should i get a professional tuner to do it?
Its an 05 z71 single cab stepside, so i want it to be a little steet machine lol
What did you end up doing? If you got the Diablo tuner how do you like it? I have a 2015 Silverado with Borla ATAK exhaust and a K&N CAI, and I’m wondering if I should get this tuner or not. If I were to get the tune I would just turn off AFM and run 87 Octane.
@@matthews4071 i havent done anything yet but id take it to a tuner, i live in nj and theres a few good shops in the state, theyll get more power out of the truck, its so worth it, it makes night and day difference, better mpg, more hp, better response time. Just better overrall
Also my truck is currently getting a ton of hail damage out right now, and then its going in for frame repair and repaint!!!
How much was that tuner and does it all disable the AFM???
What setting do I change for more hp and torqe if I have headers, muffler, and cold air?
@Nippsta Collins sounds like a setup I use often, but the UR MOM setting comes with longer strokes, loud knocking and sometimes exhaust back fire from prolonged use of setting. It's a dirty job but I'm definitely the Mothafvker who can handle that setup
@@KSIZ3ROR3Z 8 inches
So I have a question do I just pull the radio out and unhook the harness until the time is loaded,? And would I have to disconnect my subs also?
Just to be safe i would disconnect the remote wire, and the power off the battery just ti be safe.... thats an expensive fuck up of something bad happens
What brand x pipe did u use on your truck
Read somewhere to hook the handheld to a Pc for a software update before running a tune.
I'm looking into tuning my 13 silverado. Why did you use Diablosport and not another brand. E.G. bullydog, edge, hypertech, and so on.
Peter G. Cuz he likes to risk his engine blowing up.. hp tuners or blackbear tuner is where its all at
How does the tuner account for a cold air intake and aftermarket exhaust?
O2 sensors should compensate for that but I'm sure the tune that Diablo sport puts in also upped the fuel curves where needed and not needed so throttle response is crisp and responsive and where needed extra fuel for more HP.
I have a chevy avalanche 2009 stock with just Y pipe Straight pipes , i don’t understand enough about tunes and tuners , can you give me a explanation on what i can do or get to get a upgrade like this for performance
Are those Oakley Gas Can sunnies?
Is that a one time use only ?
1 vehicle only, unless you buy the advanced license and then it’s quite a few
So yunno once you cam your truck you have to get it tuned right? If i did the diablo tuner before getting it cammed would the cam tune mess with the diablo tune or nah? For 01 silverado 5.3
I have an 01 5.3 ext cab thats got crane cams and Id venture to say that if I purchased this mod I would definitely take it to a tune shop for a proper tune...Im waiting until I do K/N Short Ram, Headers & Xpipe, duel exhaust and cat delete so I can get everything tuned together at once...Its really the best way to go hands down. Heres mine bone Stock pesides the cams..paid 2300.ua-cam.com/video/Lr-3U29QFX4/v-deo.html
I have this same tuner currently. Will this work with stage 2 tsp cam? Any way to adjust air/fuel. Or anything that will allow me to drive the truck without having it on the dyno
Air /fuel needs a pcm tune which the diablo doesn’t do, you’d need someone who has access to HP tuners do that
@@THEEVERYTHINGTHINGCHANNEL Diablo doesn't. But the edge cts3 does. I have it and it does alot more. Plus a bigger screen and you can monitor everything
Can you disable or adjust the drive by wire lag ?
I have a stock 2007 GMC Sierra will this tuner work ? Or do i have to do anything special for it ?
In reference to the radio, it’s only if it’s after market?
What is DoD & why are you turning it off.
Can you also turn off DoD in Easy Tune?
Tks, enjoyed your video!👍👍👍
Dod is displacement on demand aka Active Fuel Management(AFM)
The horrible hardware that disables 4 cylinders to "help" increase MPGs. Its a very problematic system that fails in the vast majority of trucks either causing engine tick or for the unlucky few complete engine failure.
@@JosephNnbs Killed mine at 84,000 miles
@@jared5021 gotta pour one 1 out for all the fallen 5.3s
I installed long tube headers on my truck along with a cold air intake ..check engine light on since no secondary o2s ..running like shit imo can something like this help me out ..
Did you get it tuned when you modded your trucks exaust and intake? I mean your changing fuel air ratios and things that your trucks ecu isnt programmed for to start with you should have went straight to the tune shop...probably why its running like trash and changing out the 02's aint gonna do shit cause the ecu is getting wrong inputs
@@aprildickerson2065 my local tuning shop has been closed due to covid I’m not driving my truck anymore just the time around the bloc ..never mentioned swapping o2s to try to solve the issue ..I know the truck has to be dyno tuned ..I was simply asking if this tuner could help out in the meantime
Hey man do you know why your other veichile wiped the ecu when you tried to tune it? And how did you fix that? How much did it cost?
A little late, When your ecu wipes it’s essentially bricked. You have to go to a manufacturer dealership and get them to reprogram it. Runs a couple hundred bucks usually.
I’m curious can you change idle rpm with this tuner? I’m looking to tune my 03 Silverado 5.3 and I really want something that will allow me to change my idle rpm along with adjust spedo for bigger tires, axle ratio, spark & injector timing, and shift points
Keith’s Garage bully dog gt
The 8245 platinum model can do it
Which i3 do you suggest the platinum or for gm?
why did you chose the DiablosSport i3 tuner? I purchased a superchip flash pak and not impressed. what are the differences between the two? better preformance from Diablo? I run a stock 5.3L with FIPK intake and magnaflow exhaust
3:08 that's what she said 😂💀
But just don't go sliding it into Rear Entry Mode! 😁
Up The Creek I ordered the diablo i3 tuner since my truck has an issue when I’m at a light or stopped in drive my rpm goes from 500 rpm to 550 to 460ish rpm and when it goes down it makes the engine hesitate. What would be a safe rpm to set my tuner at idle? 600 rpm or a little higher? Thanks will receive the tuner Tuesday 2008 Silverado 5.3
So what did you end up doing? I just bought one of these for the rough idle.
Kaleb Hill I ended up changing the idle rpms to 600-650 I honestly don’t remember but ever since then I never had the low rpm at idle issue. I sold the truck a while back but yeah I recommend to do that if I were you
I have a Diablo tuner in my 2013 dodge challenger r/t. Was I supposed to do something with the tuner when I replaced the car battery?
I bout a 07 mustang gt with a tune and at the time I didn’t know you needed the tuner with the car so I got a tuned car with no tuner what do I need to do to fix it where I can tune my car myself I’m completely screwed is what everyone tells me please if you can help lmk ty
Can I put the truck back to stock if I have to bring it to the dealership and will they find out if I installed it
You said something about turning off aftermarket things when tuning. I have subs, amp, an aftermarket radio and aftermarket speakers in my truck. Do I need to disconnect everything before tuning my truck??
Yes
I know this video is old but what's the better option buy this or should I go the route through black bear and have them email a tune?
I go 2 a shop
What about aftermarket light bars? Should I unhook those before using the tuner?
This may be a dumb question, would this work on a 2003 silverado?
Yes. I have a '01 and it works fine.
If I return my vehicle back to stock am I able to sell it and they can tune their own vehicle?
I have a 2011 Silverado very similar to this one. Which tuner will give me the best hp and torque gains without risking hurting my transmission or engine?
marshall mcdowell you’d be better off going to someone that tunes engines. They can unlock more and do a lot more than those tuners
And it will be around the same price
Do you have to go to register or is updating on wifi give u the same updates????
Will it let you recalibrate your speedometer on a lifted truck?
Yes
I have the same 2011! What mods could I do to it that actually looks good for that type style truck? Thanks
Hey man do you think this tuning system would be able to activate e fans for a 99-02 silverado with the stock 05 e fans in it?
No, it needs to be on factory tune to start.
Probably a dumb question but idk what it is but what is the DOD you're getting off the tune?
@JR thanks I get it now
Puts truck in V4 mode when cruising the problem is the lifters have a problem collapsing and potentially ruining the cam also..turning it off with programmer definitely helps to buy time but only way to completely get rid of it is to do a DOD delete kit..Texas Speed has a kit at great price the replacement cam is like $199 so while the engine is open might as well put their stage 2 low lift cam in it and pick up 51hp and 22tq
Think this is hard on the vehicle?
Can you only use the tuner once?
Now with the aftermarket radio after its done being tuned can you plug the radio back in?
So can you buy the tuner and use it on more than one truck?
Scott Paille that’s what I’m wondering
Yes if you purchase a separate license. I believe it’s $150
Will this fix my delayed throttle response when I hit the gas sometimes?
Yes. I have 2014 gmc with 5.3 eco. I have Diablo flex tune. Afm shut off. Idle at park set up another 100 rpm. Speedometer fix bc I have bigger tires. Speed limiter off. And throttle response at 15. Modified stock trans tune with torque management off
Anyone ever have a problem getting the tuner itself turning on. Does it need to be charged?, or does it get power from truck?
Got a question and hopefully you can help me out.
I got this programmer and I was using it on my 08 sierra, well it got totaled, I just got a 10 silverado ltz, can I use it on this truck ?
I did put the Sierra back to stock tune.
Thank you for your videos.
Fes Mansfield as long as you did take the time off of the other truck you should be good to go. You have the same one right? The intune i3? That’s what I have, you should be all good
Tune, not time
This is working if I want to cammed my truck ?
Can I use 2 1/4 pipe with xpipe if so is it good or bad
Did the turner disable the remote start?
Hi BOWTIEGUY97 - I got a 2009 5.3 DOD non-flex fuel if I get a tuner like you got. WILL the OIL pressure be too high after Disabling the DOD? Can you give information on that? Can you give a LINK to TUNER you bought by the way -- GREAT VIDEO!!!
Nope I shut mine off and oil pressure did go up but not drastically until I did some upgrades ! I even eliminated the oil cooler lines because I didn't want to pay 200+ from GM for new lines and bought a billet aluminum block off plate from ICT and also did the GM oil diverter in the oil pan that redirects the oil sprayer for cyl 7 & 8 so that the oil is routed to the sump in the oil pan which also helps with less oil consumption instead of all that oil being sprayed on the bottom of the engine especially cyl 7 &b8 . GM made this diverter because they were having issues with too much oil being sprayed which caused high oil consumption and some had problems with the oil control rings where the ring lands on the pistons especially the oil ring lands would get carboned up and the oil rings would get stuck in instead of being pulled to the cylinder wall which caused low compression and a miss fire that would throw a check engine light for a miss fire code on cylinder 7 & 8 . Now when cold at start up it has 70psi cold until it comes out of high speed idle then once fully warm it has 45 psi idle and 60psi at 60 mph and more the faster or higher the engine rev's on my truck which is a 09 Silverado 1500 Lt crew cab with the 5.3 and 6 spd automatic . Generally you want 10 psi oil pressure at every 1000 RPM under load so if you have upped the RPM limit from stock to let's say 7,000 then you want 70psi at 7,000 RPMs . After I shut the AFM dod off my milage only went down 1 mpg from average 16.8 to 15.8 running on all 8 cylinders according to my instant fuel mileage calculator on my truck but if I cruise at 70-75-80 mph on a free way it says I'm getting 22-24 mpg with a stock 5.3 tune on 8 cylinders with 3:42 gears and 265/70/18 tires that are about just over a inch taller than the stock tires are and this is on a truck with 203,000 miles . That's only had new plugs and plug wires put on it 3 years ago.
there is a i3 and a i3platinum (same price) what is the difference?
2013 ram1500 8spd. This didnt work. Did all the updates on a pc before I got started, followed instructions. After connecting it started initial pcm backup and failed. Mind you the 2013 ram has the unlocked pcm so no issues there. This pos did nothing. Once it failed it wouldnt reset or let me do anything. It put an error code on my dash and rendered the truck useless. Disconnected battery in Hope's of reversing things but no good. So now I'm returning it and have to pay a dealer to sort out whatever this pos did to my truck
Ironlion same. Spent $700 for whole new computer bc this pos fried my old one. Not much of a tune as it is and very unreliable.
With the Diablo tune can you run over 90 on your truck?
You can disable the speedo limiter with the tuner
Does this unlock the ecu?
Do you half to swap your ECU
What kind of gas mileage
Can someone help me out, is this worth it if your in Cali? What can’t you do here that you can do in other states? Thanks
Don't waste your money on Diablo Tuners. I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 and when I programmed it for E85 Performance, my Truck began pinging, even with the slightest of pedal acceleration. I sent it back.
Question, what would you recommend for a 2018 silverado then? I was considering on buying this....not anymore after reading your comment.
Can you turn the fans on with this tuner?
i have an after market radio, do i have to permanently disconnect my radio or just while tuning?
I’m wondering the same thing
Can you use this on more that one vehicle or just one?
TRAY NICE just one
You can use it on more than 1 vehicle, you just have to pay for another license online.
@@mattgogas8449 so every time you want to tune something you have to buy another license? Can you tune the same vehicle multiple times with different tunes?
How about showing the screen and editing your video!
Would it work on a silverado 2001?
Can you change the rpms at idle to 600 rpms your self? Or do u need a custom tune or have to buy a tune? Is the tune to adjust the rpms preloaded on the tuner ? Thanks I’m having an issue with rpms bouncing under 500 and making the engine studded and stall I cleaned the throttle body and still does the same
It's your idle air control sensor. I had the same problem and pulled mine out of the throttle body and cleaned all the carbon build up with throttle cleaner and your idle Will go back to normal. It really works.
John Morrison what did u clean it with bro?
John Morrison and how did u get it off the actual throttle body?
can you disable the EGR and the rear cats with this programmer?
To disable the EGR or cats you’d have to just get rid of them. Then a real tuner needs to re do the calibration because your cats have been deleted
What should i do if my speedometer doesnt work after the tune ?
I have a 03 Silverado would u recommend the 87 octane from diablo is it worth the 300 dollars to buy it or no
I run hptuners on my cammed silveradk with full bolt ons. It's about 700 dollars to subscribe for single vin but way way more advanced tunability. I can change idle rpm to spark tables to fuel maps. It is on a laptop too. Way better than diablo tune in my opinion.
@@larrysgarage1682 I'm not that smart when it comes to that n my Silverado is bone stock
You can do all that with the diablo tuner too. For $369
