If anyone has an *original* Setting Gauge Service Tool (DB 961769), can you take measurements and post them as comments below? I'm curious as to how my cobbled together one compares to the real thing.
@@BundyBearsShed Woohoo! Thank you Lance! That thing's worth some money! I think I remember somebody saying an original went on eBay and sold for somewhere around $300.
Hi Shane, excellent job on your setting guage, it feels really good when you complete something like that and you get it right. looking forward to the next one. and of course Lance's vids Barry
Thanks a bunch Barry! Thanks to YOU for doing it first and showing me how to do it. I wonder if Lance has one of an original setting gauge laying around his shop somewhere. I'm curious as to how our versions match up to the dimensions of the original tool.
@@path.of.discovery if I remember rightly, he has, I think i remember him offering to send me a drawing of the gauge fully dimensioned, David Monkhouse said he'd seen one for sale on ebay that went for £350
Greetings Shane I do believe you and Barry have a sponsorship with each other lol 😆. Good video both you and Barry show and explain things in great detail thanks to you I found out Lance is now a fellow David Brown owner and its a 880 big thumbs up. I think we will all learn a great deal from Lance especially with him being a D B field technician
Ha! 🤣😂 I wish! I just like to give credit where credit is due! Lance's videos on his 880 will be fun to see! Thanks for compliment Jon, I really appreciate you.
Good job Shane - looking forward to it all going back together again soon. On the subject of the DBTC Forum (or lack of) I wonder if you could do me a favour please? I see you have replied to db2b's request to post a "hello" on the forum. I want to do the same however the fundamental problem with the forum at the moment is that members like me who registered after 2018 are no longer recognised but worse still, it is currently no longer possible for either new members or post 2018 members like me to re- register. Would you be able to highlight this problem to them for me? Having lost all my posts on the forum is one thing, but now I cannot even get back on there. Very fustrating for me and many others I suspect.
Thanks a bunch David. I'm with you regarding the Forum. I've just left a comment on db2d's post there relaying the info. I'm of the opinion that it might be time to find a new collaboration space for long-form help and support. The apathy the dbtc seems to have toward the forum is not good. Facebook is good for short-attention span posts and pictures, but is horrible for actual support and finding information about solutions to problems.
@@David.Monkhouse Hey David, could you email me at my channel email address? (under the about tab on the channel) I've got an idea I'd like to run past you. Edit: under the Path of Discovery channel's About tab that is. forgot to switch accounts to post this comment... duh.
I'll have to have a go at making one of them there tools. You got it very accurate to the book dimensions, good job. I'll need my good glasses to get it right. M
Can somebody share a A4 sheet pdf file with the gauge to print that and than draw it into a plate of metal to cut it with the real dimensions... it will be must easier...
Working on that. Lance has sent me the dimensions of the actual tool and I'm making a 3d model of it. Should be able to produce a flattened version that's printable in US 8.5x11 and A4. Will take some time though, I've got a bunch of irons in the fire. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Here you go! Flat template in A4: drive.google.com/file/d/1p7L59Vx-19IoK0FfUSPJu41WOGtVO1MR/view?usp=share_link Also have 8.5x11 Flat template as well as drawings for the actual tool and 3d STL file: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1e5SoIbsv8Bp02sc9qBu3lw7vn4IarDOx?usp=share_link

Thanks Marshall, it came out pretty well! I had to use a magnifying glass headset to get the punch set right.
