Great build and very innovative use of a drill bit with spiral flutes. There have been a lot of makers with straight flutes, but I like the spiral, and old bits are fairly easy to come by. Thanks and cheers! Someone should forward this vid to homemade tools.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it my friend🙏👍💐
This video really makes me appreciate just being able to buy one.
🙏🙏💐❤️
Absolute HOCHACHTUNG! 🎉
🙏🙏🙏💐
With no doubt, the very best tap. I know because I made some myself in desperation, on weekends where I need it one and every shop were shut, but the cheapest tap would do the job in good hands.
Thank you so much my dear friend🙏🙏🙏💐
Great job my friend!
You left out only one thing, tempering. it is very important that the tool is not brittle, because one wrong move can break the teeth. in the case of tool steels, they undergo multi-step hardening, which makes the material very resistant. great job by the way!
Thanks for the watching and the tips my dear friend🙏🙏💐💐
For tempering steel that needs to stay very hard, like for a tap, sometimes just boiling water is hot enough, and if that leaves it to brittle, an oven at 150 degrees C might work
You should note that drill diameter are actually slightly smaller than stated size and tap diameters are slightly larger, so take care for a screw to fit the tapped hole!
A handmade tool is always a reason to be proud. Congratulations and best regards 😀.
Exactly, I feel proud everytime I use things that I made or restored
Thank you very much my friend I hope other friends like you will understand the value of this work and not be superficial
🙏🙏❤️👍
Thank you for the like 😀.
Witaj Fachmanie młody i najwyższy Szacunek od starego zawodowca, super robota!
Dziękuję bardzo mój dobry przyjacielu🙏🙏💐
Very well done.
I keep in mind your way to sharpen a tap drill.
Yes, thanks👍
Pensa num cara treinado!
Belo trabalho!
Valeu muito obrigado!!!
Muito obrigado meu bom amigo🙏
Damn fine work! That was some quality stuff. It's also nice to see someone that actually does things correctly and properly when it comes to machining and metal working. Nowadays I see so many people on the interweb UA-cams that cut corners, force things, and sometimes simply just don't know what they are doing. Then they make videos and pass those bad habits on to others 😢. I also appreciate that you know how to correctly grind your own lathe bits which is something that all machinist should at least know how to do whether they use indexable bits or not. That is definitely a dying art. You are quite impressive my good sir, keep up the good work! 👍👏😊
Thank you very much, my good friend, and I will try to offer the best as much as I can🙏🙏💐💐
@@Mastermind- good stuff Maynard

Magnificent work.I need to make an m20 nut. I'm going to take advantage of the idea and do it with a 22 inch drill that I have in the workshop ... ( Not inches 22 m/m diameter )
Go for it my friend
Excelente trabalho e muito conhecimento parabéns
obrigado meu amigo🙏👍💐
Complimenti sei Bravissimo.
Grazie mille mio buon amico🙏🙏🙏
Good video. I will try this method some time. Cheers Rob

very good job,thx!
Glad you liked it!🙏🙏🙏💐
Good work. We shared this video on our homemade tools forum this week 😎
Wow, thanks🙏🙏💐💐
Instead of the Three Jaw Chuck, you should use an ER32 Collet for better grip and concentricity.
buy us all one.
@@assyholey4224 A mí que me compre un macho como ese, ya estoy conforme...

Bonjour, quel beau travail. Très bien filmé. Mes respects 👍👍👍😉
Very good idea.
Many many thanks🙏💐
Very good idea, and better job ... i only ask how much oxygen was used, and how much would be instead cost a commercial tap ... ( of course not to deal with taps that are really "hard to find" on the market ... ).
Note : a test with a blind bore would be much more relevant, as spiral taps are expecially designed for that type of holes ...
Thank you very much in any case for your usefull lesson, i really appreciated both the heat treatments of common drills ...
🙏🙏🙏💐

Do I understand correctly that first you release the metal (remove the quench), and then re-quench after processing? Cool work, but for those who have a welding machine or a heating furnace.
You almost guessed right, my friend
Heated and left to cool to a anneal the hardened metal, then after it was quenched in oil that steals some carbon from oil for hardness but it quickly cools the steel to lock in the rearranging molecules.
Ficou muito bom!! Parabéns
Muito obrigado meu bom amigo
super good work !!!
Thanks a lot!🙏🙏💐
Well done that man.
Thanks my dear friend👍💐
Great job really! Only time I got was holding on to the part by hand during the drilling process. 🎉

Glad it helped!👍

I'm already subscribe from some previous ridiculous video I watched of yours. Love the innovations!
🙏👍💐
Roberto Udo Krapf

merci moninga na ngai👍💐
19:26 why this way? Use drill machine 18:25 for perfect coaxial hole.
That is my kind of recycling!!
👍👍👍💐
Sorry, not worthwhile at all.
Btw, you should use grinding machine instead of lathe to make thread. HSS steel doesn't need oil as a cooling medium. Liquidifed Corbin dioxide can work.
Excelente trabajo🙏🤗

Toll gemacht … !

Most TiN-coated drills are not real M2 or M3 HSS, so your tap is probably alloy. HSS is air-hardening, so it's very difficult to anneal.
HSS or Cast iron can be easily (not- really) Annealed by Submerging it into Limestone powder just after Reaching Red hot temp.
This cannot be a cheap drill to start with,as some are just coated to make them look expensive.
@@VINOGRA that is oxygen-acetylene torch which is up to 3200°C.
@@kieranh2005 yes can reach those temps but this one was bearly turned on (still hot but not that hot)

Just a quick question. Doesnt the reheating blunt the cutting edge of the tap?
I don't think it has any effect, but to be sure, I resharpened the edges after reheating
no, he is now re-heat treating the tap as he annealed it at the start of the video.
Can an Acme hand thread tap be made in the same way? Would any modifications to this protocol be needed?
yes it will

Pozdrawiam
