Thanks for the video. When I was in high school and in Boy Scouts a few of us put in new trail signs near the Condor Sanctuary. One of the camps had a cave with a lot of Chumash paintings of crayfish, turtles, hands and jumping people. Very few people know where this is now since it is no longer on the forest service maps. The trail is gone but I want to go back there and take pictures. I'm keeping it secret because stupid people damage these sites.

Just found your channel as UA-cam caught me searching ancient artifacts as I’m currently off 395 and there is a ton of obsidian artifacts littering the ground. From small flakes to blades fragments and occasionally, full points.
Muna-huu (hello) Alex That is called (pitana patu ) (Bishop) Numu (Paiute) Traditional homelands to the (Pitana Patu) BISHOP Band of Northern Paiutes .thats close to the (indian mountain rice) called 'wai' " wai camp , (Vageculture)that was done by by Owens valley Paiutes is also a sight to see . there is a lot more around the valley that will blow your mind biggest kitchen you ever seen, soft flat big 6 ft boulders next to .6 ft boulders with 6 or more holes about 50 of them all scattered about a mile or more. all next to 3 intersecting creeks the ancients here made with mountain creek water , made a farm on the side of a mountain and it was a natural kitchen and its still there . major food drying. i would imagine they had at least 100 people cooking or preparing food in one spot in the most beautiful spot like sky rock! its truly amazing to actually touch and see all the work and beauty they lived with! sit in the exact spot ( alone) your ancestors did 10,000 years ago and listen to all the people talking . a entire community you cant see at the moment with your eyes closed , but you can hear them, banging , scraping, laughing , talking, playing, preparing food . Do you hear them?

So, water is life, without it we can't survive. This place, and many others in the southwest are and have been drying out. What happened to the people that lived here, the water dried up, and they moved on. If you could find out when the river stopped flowing, you can date the site. May be tree rings. good luck thank you ALL stay safe

You really captured the feeling that the land had been lived in for thousands of years, that people thrived off the bountiful local ecosystem and traded for things other groups might have. I would love to know more detail about what's been deciphered from the petroglyphs. So much writing or drawing! One day I hope to see some of these with my own eyes. Until then, I hope people show these lands and the Paiute people the respect they deserve.
I agree. I have a cousin who lives in Bishop. She sends us cookies from the town's bakery. They're so good! Spoke with her recently about making a trek from Delaware to visit her. This video makes me want to load up our motorhome soon and head out West to explore!

I live very close to this area, and have seen countless circles. Not very far from these circles is one of seasonal deer migration trails. I go there every winter to check it out. I've had to stop counting at 200 a few times over the years. These deer cross HWY 395 from the Sierra Nevada to the Pine Creek, Round valley area. Loads of evidence of ancient hunting throughout the volcanic tableland from the Owens river up to Casa Diablo mountain.

That said, a great many people could learn a great deal about natural climatic variation by doing nothing more than viewing your work. These sites were not abandoned 25, 50, or even 100 years ago. No. They were abandoned HUNDREDS, if not THOUSANDS of years ago. They were abandoned because their water sources dried up. The water sources didn't dry up because ancient soccer moms were cruising the California landscape in ancient gasoline-powered SUVS. The water sources dried up due to natural climatic variation. The California climate has changed dramatically over time...and it has had nothing to do with anthropogenic "global warming." The loons in Sacramento, who want everyone to drive a ridiculously expensive EV (ostensibly to save the planet), should marvel at your work. They should learn a bit about California's ancient past, a past you deliver to all of us in such an interesting way. They should also learn the burning of fossil fuels is not to blame for California's climate woes. Thanks again for your continued efforts!!!
Great videos. The shells are actually fresh water muscles from the ancient lakes that formed there after the melting of the glaciers from the last ice age. There were lakes all around this area; that site probably sits on the edge of one.
Hello Monache, thanks for watching and your comment. Yes, you are correct. There were many lakes and water flows as you have mentioned and certainly resources were used from them. Midden sites in the Tabletop area do contain fresh water shells. My comment was an over-simplification. A map of pre-contact California details multiple trading routes from the Pacific and elsewhere. Goods traded included food (fish, pine nuts, meat), tobacco, beads, shell products, furs, basketry, minerals (obsidian) and textiles, as well as feathers and birds. Sometimes, some of these items are found in burials and midden sites. Anyway, thanks for your comment..............alex

The meaning of the picture graph the round circles divided with lines and squares represents a home! Hogan , whippy up,. home and how many family members were born into and derived from that household! Thus count the number of squares inside the circles tell you the number of family members that belong to it! I have spoken
Looks like they were living on the edge of a shallow sea.....check out the "Signs in an alien ski" from the electric universe and see how they interpret the markings in the rocks
I recently revisited a site in oregon i found in the late 90's. Would love to share my photo's with you for discussion if interested. Trail building, hidden spring, ambush walls, large table rock with a wedge shaped rock still sitting in the middle (for breaking bone/ marrow) , a small mound built up in the dry pond (once was fresh water). I believe they maybe built this up over time to use as a duck blind. Also, what looks like two graves.
