    I’m enjoying viewing this video a second and third time. These are wonderful documentaries about ancient cultures. Petroglyphs, pictographs and other formats of expression are beautiful and I am grateful for this content. Thank you.

    Alex, Your videos are well done! I am addicted to them. I also love simply going around seeing evidence of the ancients. I lived in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico and Calif. And never tire of seeing the glyphs, rock art and encampments. Thank you for sharing, putting so much effort into your videos!

    When using a compass, it always points to magnetic north, not true north. You adjust the compass to match the magnetic declination. In the southwest, it's about 15º from true north. I don't know how much off it is in that part of México, but I'm willing to bet that if you find true north the compass on the cross petroglyph will be even more accurate. In regards to the cross with the four circles at Quail Point, the arrangement of the four circles closely resembles the arrangement of the stars in the constellation of Cygnus, also a cross.

    I interpreted the last glyph as representing how many days it takes to go between villages. There are six circles within circles in a line. It represents six days and nights. ( six suns and six moons). The line is the Gila River.

    Chatsworth Park in the San Fernando Valley has all the grinding stone holes at the end of the park behind the rec center underneath the oak tree .if anyone wants to go see them the stones were laying there but probably long gone. We pointed them out to the Rangers we don't know if they did anything

    Hi Alex. I just stumble upon your videos and wonder if you have ever found representations of the feathered/plumed/horned serpent. I am very curious about it's possible connection to the Mexica/Aztec god Quetalcoatl. It is known that the Mexicas emigrated to today's center of Mexico from "far away up north."

    Alex, you must have a high clearance vehicle to get into some of these places. Newspaper Rock is a tremendous site. (I've been to Newspaper Rock in Canyonlands)
    I am heading to the Sun City/Peoria AZ area to visit my folks in another week. Are there any sites close by I can get to with a rental car? Thank you for sharing your discoveries.

      +Chris Colson Chris, I have a Suburban which I use for my treks. Its a second hand vehicle I bought for $2,500 several years ago. Well worth the investment. There are many sites around the Phoenix area where you can park your vehicle and hike a short distance. In Peoria there is the White Tank Mountain site. Do a Google search for petroglyphs in Phoenix and you should come up with several sites to visit. This is the link for White Tank: ua-cam.com/video/tYsCRTdTyzE/v-deo.html

    People lived in areas where they could get food and water in addition to shelter. If water dried up or food wasn't plentiful they would just pick up and move to a new place. So they were nomadic but at the same time settled for long periods.

    The bird above the jaguar to the left with the fallen man looks like a condor or vulture with out stretched wings like when they sun themselves on a cliff. Do you know what culture are the artist? My guess would be O'ODHAM or HOHOKHAM.

    • @storiesbyalex
      @storiesbyalex  8 років тому

      +dakota38rip+Dakota, thanks for watching. The Payatan and Hohokham are represented. However, the cultures that pre-dated them is unknown except to say they were desert archaic people. The following link is a short article on Quail Point.

    What happened to the rocks to blacken them? Were they deliberately burnt to vitrify the surface?

    • @storiesbyalex
      @storiesbyalex  3 роки тому +1

      Munky, the burnt color is formed naturally in arid regions and is often referred to as Desert Varnish and is described a thin coating (patina) of manganese, iron and clays on the surface of sun-baked boulders..........alex

    Alex, I am enjoying your videos of suthwestern and Califonia petroglyphs. Your enthusiasm is quite evident. If you wanted to make improvements a few less "look at this over here" and jtedaust pointing the camera would help. Are your opinions/conclusions about older and younger images substantiated by professional archeoilogists? Keep up the good work.

    Some believe that your petroglyps were ancients recording celestial phenomenon.
    That might possibly occur when other plannet's get too close or a polar shift occurs causing a plasma discharge event.
    Those stickmen were really plasma discharge formation's.

    The asterism, the Northern Cross is mostly inside the Great Summer Triangle for a reason! I have the first 5 books of the Bible written in Paleo-Hebrew! The triangle plus the cross spell "law" in Paleo-Hebrew, with the word picture reading, "Door of the Cross", near the North Star!
    Psalms 75: 6,....exaltation comes from God out of the North...
    Looking north is like looking upward towards God!
    Google, the Northern Cross, by Aquilla Fleetwood, youtube!
    There are no such things as a so called big dipper or a little dipper! Hieroglyphs are in our night skies around the North Star pointing to Christ! Hence, the Northern Cross, near the North Star!
    You ought to see it in color! Amazing.......
    Shalom...
