I just picked up the 15 inch version about a month ago. I love it. It’s my go to productivity machine. I use the entire Microsoft 365 suite plus a number of other financial, todo and calendar apps. They all run perfectly and the big screen is great for multitasking. All this in a machine that fits in my bag easily even at 15 inches.
Only 15 inches? Pshhh
Any experience in running a windows virtual machine on it?
Windows runs very quickly in a VM, I use UTM.
Solid honest video about a product that’s for the main stream user. I love everything about my MacBook Air and I don’t see a need to switch it out anytime soon. Thanks Chris!
Glad it was helpful!
Good to see someone do a long term review that is actually long term and not “two weeks later”….
When my 2017 Intel iMac crapped out I purchased a used M1 MacBook Air and I absolutely love it. Great little machine.
All eyes on month's ending ipad event 😮
3 week to wait
Great video mate. Base model M2 MBA owner here. Best machine I have owned.
New sub here. ✌🏻🇦🇺
Bought the same model also when the price dropped because of the M3. Thanks for sharing this comment about the previous model.
Just bought the same model about a week ago. Absolutely love it, came from the last intel MacBook pro
waiting for the M3 15" air to come out.
It just dropped.
@@Schoolofshots1 OMG!!! Thank you SO MUCH!! 🫶
I'm going to get my 1st Mac, in a few weeks. Sold my PC, and it's equipment. Going with M2 Macbook Air, 16gb, 1Tb, and will subscribe to GeForce Now. I will do some LIGHT gaming, and mostly streaming content, with productivity as #1 use case. My concern is learning the Mac os, since new to Apple.
Hi Chris. Always really well put together videos. Really enjoyed your 600 day review. I currently have a MacBook Air 11” early 2015. I use it mainly for what you described as a day to day workhorse and for me including Promethean smart board flipcharts (being an English teacher). I have taken up an interest in video editing just for myself, family and friends. I use Filmora but would of course love to experience Final Cut. So now my dilemma. I need to purchase a replacement. Do I need a pro model if I do the kind of editing and work I’ve outlined or will the new MacBook Air 15” M3 suffice. Would very much appreciate your recommendation. All the best. Steed.
I'm considering updating my MacBook Pro 2020 (the last intel one) to a MacBook Air since my needs changed over time and my Pro just can't handle light computing any longer. Literally heating up with Word and five Chrome tabs open. Highly appreciated this long-term review since you hardly see those.
Thanks for sharing. Blessings on your day.
I love that you finally made a video about the MacBook, the MacBook Air in particular. I have the base model M2 MacBook Air along with an 11-inch iPad Pro. I kinda regret not getting the MacBook Pro and iPad Air instead but so far, the MacBook Air is doing great. In fact, I am typing this comment on my MacBook Air with my iPad next to me as a second screen. Even though they work perfectly together, if I had to choose one only, I would choose the MacBook Air. If you are one of those tech nerds who reads the spec sheet of all Apple products, you would realize that my iPad Pro actually has 2 more GPU cores than my MacBook Air, making it more powerful performance-wise. However, the iPad is still limited by its software. Don't get me wrong, I am not against iPadOS, in fact, I love the iPad and Mac being separate devices. And I always come across some comments asking whether they should go for a MacBook Air or iPad Pro. This is a tough question and the answer depends on the individual's needs, but for me, MacBook is all the way. It is not only cheaper with an included physical keyboard but also runs more software than the iPad. iPadOS is still rather buggy in my opinion and everything is still optimized for touch, not a keyboard and mouse. An example would be stage manager, it is frustrating to use with a trackpad. Even with the improved version of iPadOS 17 (more flexibility), it is still trying to snap windows a certain way. This, however, makes more sense with touch when you can flick a window to some velocity knowing that it would end up in a reasonable, predictable location. The iPad is fun to use, but if I had to use it every single day for everything, I would cry in pain. Some advocate the merger between the iPad Pro and MacBook Air but I disagree. Some features like Sidecar and universal control wouldn't be possible without them being separate.
Love your videos! I still have my 2015 MacBook Pro. It’s time for an upgrade. I’m leaning towards the future IPad Pro but if it disappoints I’ll be getting an MacBook Air.
I also have the same machine (albeit with the 16Mb internal memory), and I totally love it. There is, however, one thing I’d loke to see - on ANY macbook: A SIM slot and the possibility for mobile internet connectivity. Why is that so hard for Apple? I bought an iPad Pro several years ago hoping to be able to use that as a travelling computer, but as anyone knows who’s ever tried doing anything that has to do with attachments, it friggin’ sucks at it. Please just give me a SIM slot - even an eSIM would do!!!
I'm still using my M1 Macbook Air. It does what I need it to do. I think the only thing I'd change is to up the ram to 16 gig. Otherwise, I love it. I was very tempted for the M2 in Midnite, but I talked myself out of it. Nice review.
I like that you do longer term reviews. Most channels do one week reviews or one month reviews, but this is more useful in my opinion.
My favourite Apple Macbook is probably still the 12" model, I wish they re-released that with an Apple Silicon chip, for similar reasons why you love this one. It's just impossibly thin and light. Saying that, I wouldn't use either as a primary machine for everything.
Yeah even microsoft still sells 12 laptop go
Do you think the 8gb version will be able to run Linux under virtualbox well enough (mostly for command line)? I need to be able to do some Linux system programming for college stuff.
I have an M1 MacBook Air and for years it never had a single issue. Last update has created two awful crashes. One was a kernel panic.. forced a restart and was kinda scary. Second one was worse.. just froze. Could not force close apps to restart. Couldn’t do anything. I finally had to manually kill power.
Since then no issues but in the 12 years I had my Dell before this.. never had that happen once. It was just always slow and throttled constantly loud.
Just full on failure is kinda scary.. oh, and no updates since. I figured I’d have one within the week. I haven’t seen anyone else having an issue yet though but I haven’t been looking either.
M1 iPad 11” and I’m happy with what it does
My M2 MacBook Air has been the best computer I've ever owned, by far!!!
What’s the ssd size? I’m getting 16gb m3 with base ssd size.
How many hours do you have on it?
Because of you I bought MBA 15 16gb 1 tb LOL sinc last year August 2023, ok till now...
I hate that my M1 has only 2 ports!
They're good products...I just wish they gave you a 120hz display and a USB-A and HDMI for that price. That's what you get with windows laptops for that price.
And with Windows laptops their performance drops dramatically the second you unplug them, you get much shorter battery life, fans sound like F18s taking off, they have inferior trackpads, terrible speakers, and they come with Windows. They're great for playing games, though. :)
I have like 200 safari tabs open at all times. Would the Air works?
I’d get the pro or max if I were you. Love my m3 max 16inch. If you get the air then definitely max out the RAM
Thanks so much! @@sendysent
Yes but you need 16GB ram
Thank you! @@truthteller2711 My current 16" 2009intel MacBook is starting to heat up and seriously lag. This is the end of the road for this one.
I’m ordering this on amazon Shortly lol
My dilemma is keeping MBA M2 15 (16/1tb) at $1500 or going for MBA M3 15 (16/512) at $1600 (with education discount.)
If you’re coming from a previous pro the air build quality will feel cheaper and more flimsy
"I am not using it for anything crazy"
"I am running local LLMs"
Pick a lane bro - LLMs are vastly more hardware demanding than editing video or whatever else UA-camrs think is a demanding task
Hey good point to clarify: we're talking about like a 7B here... the 16" maxed out can run crazy LLMs so, there are various shades...
Apple❤️
Considered buying this with 16gb but there's no way I'm spending 2 grand on a laptop with. 60hz display. Completely unacceptable
It is not even close to costing $2000. This MB Air M2 is $999 new currently. 16GB is $1199. Where do you get $2000? Maybe you mean Windows ultrabooks with 16GB?
