They've said they're working on a patch to add touch screen controls
Good stuff!
Oh heck I didn't know this! I did a google search before I saw this and didn't find any info about patches, so I'm gonna go try to find it again
Its a comment on the Graphite Lab video about the controls part 4
@@SwitchUpYt Graphite Lab posted a switch how to control series
I wish every building game did that, building is just so tedious on the switch.
I am SO OLD now 🤣 I remember playing this on my computer when it was brand new. This, zoo tycoon, and later dinosaur and marine tycoon. It still looks like a preserved piece of my childhood in all its janky glory
Yep, me too. Great memories of and I love the phrase "in all its janky glory". Marvelous😊
@@Jedbullet29I miss when jank was mainstream!! 😥
@@robertharper3114 well I've been introducing the phrase to my younger work colleagues, they like it so there is hope! 😁
Yo, do you remember this PC game (think it was called IMPOSSIBLE CREATURES) but I just always remembered seeing the cover of a tiger with crab claws and all these other crazy hybrid animals on the box. Never got to play it because my parents didn’t buy it for me, but I always remembered seeing it at CompUSA or Nobody Beats the Wiz (before BestBuy took over).
I love this port, I played it loads as a kid. The controls do take a bit of getting used to but I’ve played it every day since release. It’s a lot of fun
Not my kinda game but I can see why these games are loved. You can play forever basically 😅
I loved this game back as a kid on the PC with windows 98 ❤
All best Mark & Glen
Hey Glenn, you turn the music on on the rides, that is where the music comes from. Some rides default with music on, some don't. It drifts in and out based on your camera position
Ah, ok. Thanks. I felt like I was missing something, but couldn't work out what.
I used to play Sim City and similar games in PC old era, this game reminds me a lot to these, thanks for bringing back memories!!
Great to see it finally on the Switch. I have this classic along with all the others in the series on Steam Deck, thankfully all play fantastic on the device helped a lot with the touchpads. This game has to be one of my most played on the original Xbox. Great game.
Did you had to mess around with steam deck settings to make it work? Just got a deck for Christmas and am diving into different games
@@Bored_BarbarianRollerCoaster Tycoon Deluxe, RC Tycoon 2, RC Tycoon 3: Complete Edition, RC Tycoon Classic and RC Tycoon World all work on the Steam Deck. I would recommend setting ‘Controller settings’ to ‘Keyboard (WASD) and Mouse’ for best control method. The right touch pad works well acting as the mouse, this really benefits the games.
@@Bored_BarbarianRegarding ‘Compatibility’ and ‘Properties’ on getting the RC games to play (from my experience) - RC Tycoon Deluxe, RC Tycoon Classic and RC Tycoon World work without needing to change anything. RC Tycoon 2 works with ‘GE-Proton8-32’. RC Tycoon 3: Complete Edition works with ‘GE-Proton8-25’.
I wish there was a way to get a remaster of theme park, hard to beat that old Bullfrog studios charm.
Definitely!
I still love that game.
I remember getting it running on windows the other year and playing for a bit, took a little work though
@@roadrash2005 oh yeah, I used to use dosbox back in the day to play old dos games. Maybe there’s a rom for it. Now I really want to look into that, appreciate it!
Hold L2 and use left stick to rotate the camera, learn that by messing around, love this game played RTC1 a lot back in the day along with sims 1 always preferred them over the later games
Yeah, like I said it's all in the control settings in the menus. It just could have been handled much better. Once you're used to it, it's OK.
I never did play RCT2, but I played RCT1 for a million hours back in the day. I'm actually pretty stoked to give RCT2 content a try with this one
Yeeeesss guys been waiting for a review from you on this before making a decision!
Same as you, I played a ton of Theme Park. I still do a great impression of the “puke” sound you start to hear constantly, if you forget to place bins or make your food too salty ;)
Theme Park and Sim City were more my jam back in the day, but this looks like a lot of fun nonetheless! Could be a future sale pickup.
Now I can’t stop thinking about playing Theme Park (and World), Sim City (and 2000) on my Switch! Why did you do this to me!
My younger brother will definitely love this game!
There's nothing I love more then waking up to switch up, you guys really do make my day❤
I absolutely love this game! Played this for hours as a kid and so excited that I can play it again now! Controls are not great but not horrible either, once you get used to it it works ok. (ps I think there is always music, but the music comes from the rides so when you're not close to any ride or zoomed out too much you won't hear it)
I love this review! Especially since it reminded me that the game was released on the Switch which means my wallet just found a new reason to be mad at me. I need to shake, shake, shake, that wallet to make a new payment!
Had this back in the day and loved every minute of it. Wish I could pick it up again for the Switch, but the controls will probably have me pulling my hair out.
This was one of the few computer games i had back in the day.
I still remember getting this and a few others like Pajama Sam 3 out of a cereal box we got at local grocery store.
Simple times.
Definitely want this. But waiting on the physical release.
This might sound weird but I could listen to Glen explaining game mechanics all day 😅
Really apreciated the Ride to Happiness or Nemesis pun at the start gang! Great review
I can still remember way back when RC2 originally released for PC, first day I got it I ended up playing for more than 12 hours straight. The game was pure digital crack!
My wife is going to be overjoyed with this game coming to switch
i was more a zoo tycoon player back in 2004 ,got a copy with buying my laptop never really looked at as i was not a gamer back then untill both my parents died within 10 days in 2004 . i played this for hours and hours a day and months in a row to get through time and the tough and painfull days this game helped me so much with mouring but now i cant play any of the tycoon series anymore to much painful memories for me .
This brings back fond memories. I loved this game when I was younger. I'll wishlist this one
I always love your reviews, very fair!
Regarding music, just a heads up it comes directly from the rides, and you need to actually set it on the ride options to play it, as it's normally off by default. I think only a very few fresh rides have music on by default, and then you also may have music already playing on some of the pre-existing rides on a scenario.
Some games are just not my thing, but I Love the passion the people in here in the comment section have for this game.
My second favorite game next to Thrillville and Planet Coaster, they're amazing and nostalgic thrills!
Does the game support using a mouse? I appreciated that a lot in Game Builder Garage and Hypnospace Outlaw
Doesn't appear to from what I've heard. Gutted as would have snapped this right up if so.
Does this have a sandbox mode, or is it all scenarios?
Really love the ride called "the wild Water Buffalo" 😂
Would've been top tier if they figured out how to use the touch screen for the controls rather than scrolling with a mouse.
I believe I read touch screen feature was being worked on for an update later.
I’ll buy it once they add touch screen
Oh the nostalgia, playing RCT and Theme Hospital on my first PC back in the day, fancying I was a strategy genius and a thinking man... How wrong I was 😂
Love this port but playing it without a mouse feels weird...
Thanks for another great review!
Ahhhh seeing this makes me hopeful for a Zoo Tycoon and dlc port for the switch, my god id love that
This was one of the only new games I bought between the SNES era and the Wii (1996-2007). Lots of good times!
I’m in love with both this game! I played this on PC when it came out like 20 years ago- lol! I played it every night - get it! ☺️
Really wish the e shop had refunds. I played this for 20 minutes and the controls drove me nuts. Haven’t touched it since.
I love the Roller Coaster Tycoon series. I recommend getting Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition for switch though, but I can see the charm of 1 and 2. Hoping the latest gen Planet Coasters make it to Switch 2... 🤞
I loved this when it first came out on PC! I really enjoyed the switch port of the 3rd one, but the controls are so clunky. Sounds like it’s similar to this. Thank you for this! I’ll wait for a good sale.
Ive heard rumours (nothing confirmed of course) that the detachable joycons on the Switch 2 will work like a mouse. If true that would make games like this so much fun and intuitive.
Im sure ite still there but are the rides/attraction limit per park still there?
With Two Point Hospital/Campus, Jurassic Park. Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo and Roller Coaster Tycoon already in my collection I don’t think there’s room for this one
To be honest, I definitely think this one stands out enough that it has a place in a collection already filled with building/tycoon games. To each their own of course, and I can't deny that I have nostalgia for this one, but the pixel art alone is enough for me to still be in love with it all these years later.
@ I’m a sucker for pixel art too. The game will probably find it’s way onto my wishlist
@@paulblyth9793 Pixel art always grabs me. I know some of it's nostalgia, but it also (in my opinion) holds up throughout the years
I heard the Switch 2 joycon might act as a mouse. That could be useful with this game.
My thoughts exactly. The Switch does support usb keyboard and mouse with some titles. Real pity this release didn't enable that feature.
Expensive considering it came free in a cereal box back then lol played alot as a kid
How do the other Roller coaster tycoon games on switch stack up?
I played the older game and a PlayStation roller coaster game. I never got the bug lol, but some fun to be had
Remember playing one of these games way back 😊
i loved playing Theme Park when i was little on (our huge) computer 😅
My Backlog is huuuge. It‘s spread across two one terabyte Micro SDs and I don‘t know where to start. Could you please make one of those videos where you recommend several Games which are worth finishing? I would be soo happy if you two could help me out there!
Use to love this game on pc, but the controls might disappoint me if I get it still might get it just because I use to love it
I would really love a review of star trek legends. I believe it was originally a mobile game and wonder what its like as a game in general and on switch x
If you want to play a console port of this game with very good controls, take a look at the release on the OG Xbox. Weird recommendation but it's basically the same game.
Nice Alton Towers reference dude! 🤑
I wish EA goes the same route and releases SimCity on Nintendo Switch. I would have been amazing to have it here.
Rollercoaster Tycoon is genuinely one of the best games ever made. I'm not sure it's best suited to the Switch though. This seems like a slightly lacking port.
I urge anyone who can to play the open source port OpenRCT2. It's everything that made this game great along with much more and it'll run on any old potato of a PC. It's incredible.
I got the 3rd one on sale last year but have yet to play it. Admittedly I bought it because the sociopath in me thought it was funny that you can make "death coasters" after reading a reddit thread.
now that you mention it .. have you ever seen a Lego Rollercoaster Glen? Im not so sure I ever seen one, fabulous trains of all sorts but i dont think i ever seen a official lego rollercoster set.
The clincher for me would have been having keyboard/mouse support.
Performance issues on games that are less than 500MB and over 20 years old is insane.
8:22 oh. No corkscrew expansion? I wonder why.
I'm not surprised they goofed on the controls but at least it's still a great port of a great game.
Music comes from rides, there is no background music on its own
Love the nostalgic look 🥹 but controls definitely seem to be a bit uncomfortable
There are rumours that the Joy-Con on the Switch 2 can be used like a mouse. Would be ideal for games like this!
One of favorite games of all time!
I'm passing on this one. Give me the superior Transport Tycoon Deluxe (The precursor to RTC) with keyboard/mouse input when docked, touch when handheld. For me, its always been my favorite game since '94.
Still incredible even after 20+ years. 😁
Evening lads 🎉 this reminds me of the old school theme hospital game that was a classic
for over double the price and less content, do yourself a favor and buy this on android or ios.
Can we have a release of zoo tycoon? Not the crappy xbox one but the original? I loved those games as a kid and no newrr games have ever surpassed it imo
Which RCT game on Switch would you recommend the most?
I prefer this style over the 3D of RCT3. But that one did a better job with its controls.
@@SwitchUpYt My favorite was 2, I hope they remaster that one with the controls from the 3 port. I do have fond memories of 3 but definitely prefer the older art style of 1 and 2 as well
Hard to justify this version when I just picked up Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 at a steep discount for my daughter
I was a Thrillville kid, not a rollercoaster tycoon kid. Hopefully it sparks joy to the target audience.
I'm not sure I would like to play this because I'm mainly a Switch Lite player. A smaller screen means more eye squinting.
RCT fans should try Parkitect! It’s just like RCT2 but 3D!
roller coaster tycoon is a cool game but i have always thought it definitely one of those games that benefits from a mouse and keyboard.
I had something like this for Playstation
A beatiful looking game still
mouse like controls on switch 2 hopefully
I love this game so much. Bought day one
I couldn't imagine playing this with anything other than a mouse.
Currently drowning in Dinosaurs in Jurassic World Evolution so I'm preoccupied with that as my management sim but i am curious, which Roller Coaster Tycoon should i invest in next, this Classic Edition or Roller coaster Tycoon 3?
Thanks SwitchUp, 2025 going strong! 😊
Sandbox mode free play??
This is a shame, games like this live or die on their controls. Without slick controls I know I’d just get frustrated and leave this one after the first park
Love the graphics on this... So much personality in those tiny figures, it's like Lemmings
Not sure why it's struggling on Switch though... ?
Never mind, I'll just whack Sim City on my SNES (still a great pc port!)
Yes, it does look like Lemmings! I didn't really make the connection until you said it! Glen
The game gets re-released literally every other year
Not for me, I create deadly traps instead of fun ones
a UA-camr called Marcel Vos has turned this game into exactly that; a death-by-drowning trap
@ice010 need to see it
I grew up on this
Same…good times! Mark
Who else instantly thought of Eric Cartman?😅
Joguei muito esse game na minha infância
Time to bring out my 9 year old imagination again
I can't stand controlling a mouse cursor on my console games.
This game is obsolete with OpenRCT2 on PC
Not my kind of game, I didn't even like rollercoasters as a kid (🤮🤮). 😅
I saw a different video say that they didn't have the toolkit for designing your own scenario for switch. Was this wrong?
