I havnt seen a video that caught my emotional side like this for years now. That was perfect, big props to you Brody.
I average 16 seconds for a while now, I did not give up until now, and after this video I espacially wont give up. Determination is a skill everyone that wants to compete in life should be able to focus on and you showed me once again how much cubing can be related to the actual day to day life. So yes, that motivated me on levels my parents couldnt lol
I will sit down now, write my applications for university and then I will start learning the dotcases so I finally know full OLL.

I was around 1:20 with beginner method, about a month ago, after years, I finally sucked it up and learned cfop. Yes I was slower at first, yes I messed up alot, but all you need to do is just practice, that’s how you learned how to solve in the first place right? Well now I’m 40-50 secs with my fastest being a 40.2, if you wanna be faster, just take the time. The algos may be intimidating at first but I PROMISE YOU, it’s not as complicated as you think, trust me :)

Next year I continued with beginners but seemed boring. Then I found someone who cubed with beginners as me but he was waay faster than me. I spent like a month learning reduced cfop an became sub 1 min, that motivated me to continue learning cfop(as i am now). We still compete and i had a PB of 26" and he had 25" but today I cubed a lot and got a some Lucky scramble that lead me to a sub20 PB. That is basicly what keeps up my determination rn.

I had a habit at keep doing a beginners method. So I slowed down and doing practice solves. This put my time up 1:10 or so but it not discouraging me, I’ll get better and starting to see my matches a bit faster. Perseverance and time is key! I’ll get to my PB but it’s the journey to get me there that I love. Thanks for posting this Brody!

I don’t often like videos from cubing youtubers but I really see how much you invested into the writing of this video. I started cubing around March of last year (wow that’s a long time) and for months I was stuck on beginner’s method. I learned it from the cheat sheet that came with the box and didn’t even know it was called beginner’s method. With it, I was able to get my average to around one minute, give or take ten seconds. In September I met these other two cubers who were sub-30 and thought they were so good only thanks to finger tricks. But then I realized the way they were solving was very different from mine; cross on bottom, f2l, 4lll was not something I was aware of at all. And when they saw me solve, they found my way of doing it very strange and confusing (I guess they didn’t know or remember beginner’s method?). Today, I’ve learned intuitive f2l and am trying to perfect my 2-look oll. I definitely think it helps with perseverance to be able to view learning new algs and getting new solves as a challenge that would reward new satisfying milestones, much akin to that endorphin hit you mentioned. Thank you for your message my dude. I’m a long way from getting a WR but you made me reflect on this journey and I appreciate that.

I learned to solve a cube in the early 80s, I have no idea what F2L is or "Beginner's Method", PLL etc. I solve it using the "friend's collective" method from magazines and person to person (no internet lol) top, bottom, middle. I never considered going faster I just like going bigger but one of these days I'm going to figure out some of these methods. I'll never be fast, my age is creeping up on me but its fun to keep sharp!

Thanks Brody, I realize that this could be applied to anything, like drawing or running. Those are other things I do as a teen, and cubing. I’m only sub 50 which isn’t the best but I haven’t given up yet. I’ve learned the basics and some advance F2L cases, and trying to learn oll and pll. So far, I haven’t give up yet probably never will.

0:55 I took 8-9 years before I learnt to solve it properly. I used to quit halfway. Get motivated after 2 years but by then I have forgotten what I learnt before and quit again. Crazy to think that I struggled to memorize some small easy algs while now I know PLLs, Algorithmic F2Ls, OLLs...

I needed this video about 3/4 of a year ago. From May 2018 to May 2019, I refused to learn CFOP and was stuck at averaging 40 seconds, and I almost quit cubing. At the time, I realized that Western Champs was only about a month away, and learned OLL and PLL in under a week. Now I have learned Full PLL, and average Sub 18.5

Honestly I needed this video right now. Because of COVID-19 my motivation to cube really went down, but recently I've started practicing seriously again. I have some really old official results that I really want to beat at my upcoming comps. I got demotivated after not getting a sub 30 official 4x4 average or beating my 7.88 official 3x3 average at my last comp, but this video really helps me change my mindset. Thank you so much for this advice.
