    ok I think i got it. at 2:40 where he shows that he has the "6♥" it is just a card then he turns and grabs the actual 6♥ from the deck and hides the "6♥" so it seams like he just picked up, and by then he only has one other card I don't know where the deck went.

    Any tips for someone who's new to magic. I struggle with anxiety and struggle to perform how can I overcome the nerves ?

    • @stevenbridges
      @stevenbridges  8 років тому +16

      +steveRN21 Learn a great trick. Practice it SO much that you could do it in your sleep. Practice it so much that you know it as well as you know your own name. Perform it to your parents, siblings, close friends, then friends you don't know as well, then strangers.
      If it's a good trick and you KNOW it really well then you don't have anything to worry about when performing to people because you're going to do a great job and they'll love it!

    • @thomasleroy2679
      @thomasleroy2679 8 років тому

      +steveRN21 Guy first tell yourself that it is normal! Practice a lot until you are sure to have mastered your mooves the best as you can. Then there is no other way than going outside and practice magic on people. You will fail, you will struggle, but at the time that you will sucess your brain will tell you: ok, i have done it, i can make it again. And the next time it will be more and more easier! Confidence comes from sucess, and sucess comes from failing. So practice simple tricks at the begining in your show, and then with the time you will add more advanced stuff. You know i m practicing magic every day but whenever i learn a new moove or a new trick, my hands are always freecking the first time that i do it to people. And even if i can do really complex tricks. Because this is normal, it's like when you kiss a girl for the first time i would say^^ good luck guy! I Hope that it would help you and sorry for my french english^^

      @UrbanPanic 8 років тому

      +steveRN21 The best way to get over performance anxiety is to perform. Yes, get your routine down but also take other opportunities to be in front of an audience: public speaking classes, open mic nights, comedy workshops, etc are all low stakes opportunities to get those first couple anxiety ridden experiences out of the way. Doesn't have to be magic... as long as you have an audience. Maybe get in slowly by finding ways to be on stage without being the center of attention: join a band or choir. Assisting a juggler or other magician. Acting as stagehand or bit part for a community theater production.
      In addition to relieving your nerves, getting experience with other forms of entertainment will help you create a better overall performance beyond just "here's some tricks." Creating a story and having a reason why you are doing these weird things draws the audience in much deeper... and provides automatic misdirection as a bonus.
      Also learn the trick and routine, rehearsing them until you are confident you can pull the whole thing smoothly and naturally while a whole room is looking at you. But in the meantime practicing being on stage shows you the biggest trick: that it's not that big of a deal. And sometimes your production is not perfect. And that's okay... as long as you keep it entertaining.

    The sleight of hand here is absolutely insane. I see him do the first bit and go "Oh. Any amateur can do that trick". Then Tom signed the card and everything after was impossible to distinguish. I can see some moves here and there, but they don't correlate to what's happening.. I'm sure I could go through the video frame by frame and figure it out but why bother? This is so damn near perfect. I have not seen anyone as good in a long while.

    • @Excludos
      @Excludos 7 років тому +3

      +themaun Sure, but it's also child's play. I'm not a magician by any stretch, but even I know how to do those bits fairly easily. So when I see a supposedly good magician/sleight of hander use techniques even I know, it doesn't exactly impress me. But like I said, everything after the signature was absolutely massively impressive. I don't know how he did it, and I don't want to know. I'm satisfied with it just blowing my mind

    As an aspiring magician who pretty much knows how these tricks are done I think it's cooler than being in the dark and wondering how he does it because of the incredible amount of skill that some of this stuff takes. Being able to move and speak so quickly while still executing these sleights perfectly is just art.

  • @fa.h.
    @fa.h. 8 років тому +83

    Most of the tricks looks like is based on he actually having the card in his hand when he put his hand in the pocket, or having the card in his hand before he touched the box, and shaking in a way that you dont see where it really comes from.
    I sort of see how he do it, but it must have taken hell of a lot time to learn to do it that good without being too slow or screwing something up.

    • @fa.h.

      Ekanshdeep Gupta The first trick is that, Tom touched a card and it turns out to be the 6 of Hearts, but that wasn't the card he touched, you can see Steven taking a different card. There is another 6 of hearts under the box. I dunno how the signed card went inside the box though. Then he shows the card went into Steven's back pocket. That is another card, when he removes that card you can see the 6 of hearts in his hand... Similar observation reveals a couple more.

    I love this kind of card trick. Time tested, no crazy hard moves, just a perfectly executed, non pretentious routine that’s upbeat and fun. A master class in the classics.

    OK so I watched it through twice and I have all the moves BUT I can't figure out if the signed 6 of hearts is a red back (in which case the drop from the card case has some risk) or it's a blue back (in which case there's some serious skill handling a double at the end). My gut says it's a red back, but the fact I'm going to have to watch this x number of more times is proof of Steven's skill. Well done sir. Have an FU trophy!

    Well done! I have been a (mostly) amateur card magician for over 50 years. I would love to know if the signed card with red back is examinable at the very end. Knowing that would make stealing ideas a lot easier. :-) If someone in the know is willing to tell me, please send me a PM.

    Impressive. As a amateur magician I know how most of the tricks work. These were so well done, even knowing the tricks, I didn't see any of it happening. I can normally bust people on exactly when and what happened. I'd no chance here. Very very well done.
    16 people can't have fun. Its okay though. I'm sure you can make the dislike button disappear. :)

    Part of the fun of 'magic' is trying to figure out how it was done.
    Most of us are smart enough to realize thee is no 'magic'; no time travel and no moon landing but we still enjoy getting fooled :-)

    The signature was always done on the red card and not the blue one, if you freeze frames and watch closely, you can pretty well make out the whole sequence and his pure sleight of hands combined with misdirection. Amazing......

    Could you have let me examine the table, specifically the card box, before performing?
