- This is an introduction to loading the 50 BMG using the RCBS 50 BMG Pack. This is a lot like loading standard rifle brass however there are pieces of eqipment that are different. I want you to see how to set them up and get the most out of it.
I always wanted to see Reloading vids for .50BMG
oh very good video.
this is a whole new process than a normal reloading a 06, or 338.
That would be a fun project. Someone in AZ made a rifle by necking down a 20mm to .50 then making it a Ackley improved design. He claimed 4200 f/s with a 800gr bullet.
This is a great video I'm looking into getting my first 50 still mowing it over it is a serious investment. Maybe someone here will know, is $2700 for a Steyr HS 50 with
150 rds a great deal seems hard to pass up but I'm like a blind man picking out his favorite painting. Thanks
Yes. I use the Midway 2092 tumbler now made by Frankford Arsenal. They don't come out looking like gold but they're clean. That's the main thing. The brass used in 50 BMG seems to have a different metalurgy in it. The 50 is a expensive project. I'm developing a cast bullet load. It's low recoil and more cost effective. Limited range but it gives you trigger time.
That should do it. Don't take off too much, just enough to polish it. Then lube it so it'll pass through the neck on the down stroke.
The ammo master press is also easy to alter for cannon reloading, rethread a top plate, lengthen top plate rods, make shell holder, make neck size die & seat die. Thats it. Mine is in 45x310R mm ussr. Its still easy to go back to .50 cal also.
how are you going to say that and not have videos on your channel of it???
@@randylahey2242 that would be cool but I don't have any idea how. A friend is planning a channel so we'll see😊
No. There are standard presses like the RCBS Rock Chucker that will do everything from 22 Hornet to 505 Gibbs. You need a press that not only can take the dies but have the clearance to allow the case to be worked and a bullet to be seated. The RCBS Ammomaster press is a great press and can also load standard cases and be setup as a progressive press. It's more expensive but like any good piece of equipment it's flexible.
It's just like reloading any other rifle cartridge but all the equipment is bigger.
I am keeping them! I plan to make 30 Carbing half jackets.
@USMCFISCELLA I have sized some fat brass on this thing and nearly standing on the handle and it hasn't broke yet.
good series. I've reloaded handgun shells for years and need to reload 50BMG for a friend. How worried should I be about something blowing up in my face.
@SPCkeith You can get loaded ammo for almost that.
You mentioned at the end of the video that the shell holder backing out would mess up the headspace adjustment. Isn't the headspace on the resizing operation set by the resizing die completely closing on the shell holder, regardless of the height of the shell holder?
Any progress with your .50 BMG cast bullet project? I've thought about it, but I use cheap South African ball projectiles that I resize myself for cheap trigger time. I didn't want to lead up my barrel. I was planning on a .50 Whisper subsonic but I was a bit afraid the velocity would be too low for effective muzzle brake performance but high enough for the heavy bullet to make a lot of uncompensated recoil. Might be dangerous!
The trim die is also expensive. $200
Oh yes. The tumbler will hold about 20 of them.
@ammosmith damn there are a lot of ppl getting ripped off then lol. thanks man.
What would you say the value of once fired military 50 BMG Brass is? I found some selling for $1.25 each is that about right?
do all presses work with 50 cals?
@ammosmith what would be a fair price for once fired LC brass then? oh and that included shipping.
SPCkeith n
forgot to add, I found 2000 grit sandpaper at the Auto section at walmart.

@SPCkeith 50 cents
U said u pull 750 gr FMC bt projos & replace w/750gr a max. There are no 750 gr mil projos of any type, that's a mith. M33 ball is 661 grs -25grs., m2 ball is 709grs -22grs, m2 a. P. Is also 709grs - 22grs. Mil projos have loose weight tollerances to get a cone of fire for machine guns, for accuracy with mil projos they need to be weight/ sorted mil load specs for all mil ctgs up to 20mm are in the back of the book cartridge of the world.
