You need to put a 1 hour 30 minute timer on that one. It will line right up with the trick you just pulled over on me with this one. Lol thanks for another great video!
Nice. I like the tube style primer feed on the rock chucker but other than that it seems cool. Its nice to have that back up just in case. Thats quite a kit👍
Wait, get the supplies when on sale but wait for the ammo crunch to be over, once that happens then the primers and what not will be easier to find and cheaper
After he talked for several minutes I looked at the timer and said - wait a minute, its running way slow and than I looked at total video minutes 22:26 😁
I just got this kit with 1000 Remington #6-1/2 small rifle primers for 299.99 on midwayusa. after shipping and handling, hazmat fee, and taxes it was $376. Full kit and 1000 primers for under $400 felt like a good deal.
I reload shot shells. Already have some of the equipment. It also does not hurt to have some back up equipment just in case. Good video. I’m very interested in getting a rebel press and getting into metallic reloading. I have several calibers of firearms. Nothing to off the wall. They are all common calibers. Just a lot of hunting and military surplus and a few ARs. Several pistols and revolvers. Posting that list saved me some work. I’ve been researching and putting together a list that I’ve made several corrections on. I see a newer or better gadget to do a task and it changes. I think I’m about ready to start ordering stuff. Thanks for the video. 👍👍👍
I love the fact that you put a clock on the video 🤣😂🤣😂 Great video: if I wanted 5 minutes worth of info I'd just Google it myself. 20-30 minutes is perfect.
Aaaaaaaand we’re off! I got the plus kit for $425 and replaced the scale as well. I took the analog caliper to the garage for woodworking because I bought a digital set before the kit. Other than that, I have been very happy with the results of the first 500 9mm rounds I’ve loaded using RCBS dies. One thing missing from the list is annealing equipment be it a machine or a drill and flame.
Hey Johnny, thanks for your very detailed info-clip which I'll watch again having a pen & paper. Without trying to be a smarty, I am surprised that you seem to prefer shopping at Amazon, whose "astronaut-owner" is not the 2nd richest dude on the planet accidently and yes, I very much prefer shopping at eBay where I usually find stuff for much (~ 20% or so) less than what Amazon charges. Thanks again and take care!
I agree on the electronic scale supplied, would pay extra to have the balance beam, and, I'd prefer the primer tool with the shellholder, may need it for some cartridges that don't work in "universal " jaws due to rim thickness or diameter. I don't like using a trickler, so for me, they could keep it and give me calipers instead. That is a great recommndation list you came up with too. No kit is perfect, but, the RCBS kit is pretty good.
The review of the product was most likely 5 minutes and all the other information was nice to see what you use in making your bullets. I do think you should have reached out to RCBS to replace the scale and do the review after they had because they will. I do like your videos. I myself only load for accurate hunting loads not necessarily one hole stuff but sometimes pretty close. One thing that I would put on the list is a press stand. I for years did without but just recently got a press stand for my single stage just because I knew it would be nice after using my Dillon 550B progressive for years with one. I only wish I would have done it sooner. Nice video busy, but nice.
I have the RCBS stuck case remover. At some point you are going to need it. Get rid of the RCBS drill bit and get one made from high speed Steel. My drill bit lasted about three brass cases and was completely dull.
11:33 I own but don't like the standard hand primer with shell holders. It's fine for one or two cartridges, but with more than that you'll spend a lot of time changing them out. I didn't know there was a difference and got it thinking that it was the universal tool. Been a bit disappointed.
I changed the lock rings that came with my Lee 45acp dies to some I got from rcbs , I like the flat sides on their lock rings instead of those spline drive nut lockrings
Fill the bottom of the trickler with lead it helps from tipping over. Digital is great for scales and calipers but they will give bad reading every once in awhile. I would prefer analog cause they wont break or run out of batteries.
I want to like the Rebel press. I really do. It should be at an angle to the bench. This is just more ergonomic. I like that they finally fixed the spent primer system. It looks like priming was a whoops we forgot that. Or, they realized many never prime on the press. I seat primers as I inspect cases. The RCBS Universal hand primer should definitely be held in the hand before buying another brand. With that said, Frankford Arsenal makes a nice one. The new powder measure looks nice. Definitely one to consider. So many times extruded powders confound the new reloader. A set of Lee scoops & trickler really is a simple solution. Not many shooters load huge quantities of rifle rounds at a sitting. Scoops and tricklers use your shooting eye hand coordination and are not that slow. I prefer beam scales & dial calipers. You can sell unwanted pieces of kits and get what you prefer. All brands have good resale value.
Thats a good looking kit there JRB, man my wife's gonna hate you so much when I buy another kit!!!! But she has been trying to get me to go green for years now, not sure if thats even what she meant but I'm going with it...
Decent looking kit, stick with my Redding t7 and turrets, I really like priming on the press as I go through to fill the cases after prep, just more efficient in my manner of operations and cal feel sufficiently enough to feel the pockets friction, or lack there of, I'm about scared to say it but, probably going on around ten years at most loading never stuck a case lol
I didn't really want a Rebel (or RCS4) as I was already set but for ~$100 @ Midway on sale new a few months back I couldn't help myself and now use it strictly for bullet swaging. Rather than a small "corelle" style bowl, I've found a very small pet bowl (squared off edges) rubbed on the inside with powdered graphite to be superior due to the far more stable surface by design and virtually unbreakable. I don't use a drop (despite owning one) and prefer scoops (I have new and VERY old) and typically drop less than a grain off on the scale. A 0.17cc scoop is near ideal to finish it off too but doesn't come in the kit by default. Lee provided it at no additional charge in an order I placed with them for something else. I have a powder trickler but have virtually quit using it in favor of the above. I have various "tools" to make things easier and I've no gripe with the Lyman aluminum funnel I got for a song. However, I rarely get them out and generally prefer the caliber/diameter specific Satern I splurged on that aren't that expensive anyway in the calibers I load most frequently.
Oh, and I absolutely HATED grease in the Rebel. I avoided using after foolishly greasing it initially. I took it apart, cleaned out all the grease, and bought a simple push/pump oiler compatible with the zerk (~$7 on amazon) and loaded up with a good oil and it's been pleasant ever since.
Love my Rebel kit. Hate the cheap scale also. Loaded about 5k 223,9mm, 243 and 308 Win so far with it without any complaints other than the scale. Bought a FA intellidropper and a beam M500 beam scale, both are much better.
You sound like the kit is worth it. For beginners who may or may not stick with reloading I personally like the Lee Challenger kit. It is way more affordable that works very well.
I personally went with the set up from "Reloading 9mm on the cheap" but have upgraded a lot of the stuff over the last 3 years. I had a $300 total budget, to get started, including components. I think I came in at $325 total, including dies, powder, bullets, primers, ect.
Great summary of this kit. Like have few things from the kit just not the full kit stuff I already have. Not sec of stuff would not hert. But price would. Let's get bullet comparators what other brands I only seen Hornaday one.
Sinclair has a cheaper one, but it and the Hornady have not such great hole sizing QC, nect step up is Short Action Customs, not so cheap, there are some others out there, all custom , all not cheap.
I'll tell youall a case length gauge for my particular 7mmremmag custom cut chamber is a 11mm socket....fits the same and perfect every time...same socket for years, 11 i believe, if I'm wrong ill edit, as well as other randoms that fit 308 and 270
Would you recommend this kit over the rock chucker supreme kit? It includes the M500 mechanical scale instead of the digital which seems to be more useable. It does not include the powder trickler just the uniflow. Or is the rebel kit better and just purchase the scale. Price difference is only 10 dollars between the two.
Hopefully you can get them to replace the scale and review it in due course. I've lost bits off my 13 year old Partner press and hand primer through my own carelessness, and RCBS still sent replacements out to me for nothing. I wish this kit had been on the shelf when it came time for me to buy my first press. As for the primers, I'd rather have to park a small trash can under the press than have the primers spit out at some unpredictable angle. IIRC the universal primer does have its limitations regarding the cases it can accept; the standard hand primer, using shell holders, doesn't have that issue. I want analogue dial calipers because analogue dial calipers never run out of batteries.
Johnny, very nice review of the RCBS Rebel press. I'm waiting on the delivery of the RCBS Summit press I'm going to be doing a review on my channel shortly. Hope everything's been going good for you. Echo
Just added a rebel press to my bench near my rock chk of 30 years. QUESTION... I see you mentioned how tight the tolerances are with the press/ram. I actually have quite a bit of play in my linkage below the ram. Mostly on the upper linkage. Enough play where you can move the ram arm back and forth about a 1/8”. Both at the top arm position as well as when the ram is fully extended. My rock chucker has zero play in the linkages. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this with their rebel ? RCBS stated is was normal but I thought it was way to sloppy...
Rockchucker is worse in that dept, this way at least, most of that crap can be kept off the exterior of the ram, as it is internal discharge thru the bottom of the ram, not external.
Stuck case removers are like spare tires. If you have one you won't need it. If you don't well let's just say you'll have an oh shoot moment more often than you realize.
would be a nicer kit if all the parts came inside the box rather than missing , also the bar is directly in the center it would be nicer offset a bit so you could look directly at what you are doing not around the side of the bar . but for under 450 its a nice package .
I think if you go to the RCBS website, it will list the max case length it can load. It definitely can do .300WM, but not sure on 338LM over all length
I'm trying to get into reloading and I keep seeing this press in my research. Is this the press I should get for my first one? How is it for a beginner?
That timer is like the “UA-cam- skip ad” timer. Same speed 😂
Long version available here: ua-cam.com/video/qH7tG9Ri5e4/v-deo.html
It’s so good it feels like 5 minutes
Heck yeah
Wow 7hrs . That long one for u not saying did do just 24hr stream for 100,000 followers sat watch lot of that
You need to put a 1 hour 30 minute timer on that one. It will line right up with the trick you just pulled over on me with this one. Lol thanks for another great video!

The 5min timer speed makes me feel like I'm on mushrooms 🍄
But it was RCBS green.
I feel like I've been watching this all week 😎
best 5 min I spent in a long time.
Congratulations on finishing your marathon, Mr.Bench. Can't wait to see the long version. I love the 5 minute timer barely creeping by 🇺🇸👍👊
I never knew how much time and energy you put into these until I watched on twitch. Appreciate all the work.
Good to see the final product. I've been watching on-off for the editing on twitch. Never realized how much work and time goes into making a video.
After he talked for several minutes I looked at the timer and said - wait a minute, its running way slow and than I looked at total video minutes 22:26 😁
Just wait for the 25, 000 seconds video (:
You are the man! I wouldn't have started reloading without your videos. And that timer is hilarious.
Good video! A lot of new reloaders need a lot more videos like this. It's very valuable information and it's got a great presentation style.
Glad to see you back on UA-cam. I’ve tried to watch the twitch stuff but life is too short😀.
I want the long version!
Johnny you are relentless. Great reveal for RCBS. Not sure if I would put my RC aside but good explanation of product as usual.

Another cheap option for case measurement are the Lyman or Hornady case gauges. They're a cheap, quick way to check cases when resizing.
