I’m glad Stan showed the painting he had difficulty with. Most artists only show their successes, which gives people the idea that these things spring out of thin air.
I completely agree. I was fooled by this notion most of my life. It was until recently that I understood that the process is such an elemental part of the journey, even more so than the final product.
“Too quick to get to the Finish” ... for sure my homies! Thanks for the vid as usual, good stuff
I love how insightful Marshall is. It is often the case that I hear his voice inside my head when I'm drawing or painting, giving me useful tips or reminding me why the hardest things are worth doing. Thank you for these wonderful conversations, guys. 💖
Marshall is such a fount of knowledge. So much respect for this man.
so many unanswered questions in my life answered within 7 minutes , so awesomeee
As a drafter and designer of 30 years and just recently taking up watercolor painting, the process is what I've felt as the most enjoyable part, especially when it cones to a satisfactory resolution. What you refer to as "the process", I've always referred to it as the exploration of possibilities, for it is that exploration that I enjoy most.
I tend to think of it as leading a losing battle - everything is already against you from the start, so if it turns out good, great! If not, then it was expected and you can go about your life. You only lose when you stop everything completely.
That's a good philosophy
This is exactly what I needed to hear guys. Thank you so much.
Once again, such a beautiful gem of insight. I know I really struggle with looking at the masters and pros, wondering how they got to the end product. Thankfully, the adventure and excitement is in the chase and discovery of the 'how'. Been teaching myself for over a year now. Still figuring out who my art parents are :)
This really hit home. I can see myself in your conversation and the struggles you are describing. Its nice to know I am not the only one experiencing this. Its great to hear how you guys look at it, becsuse its true and I sometimes need to remind myself. Thank you :3
So helpful because I always thaught the process was removed from the professional method and that demotivated me
Really, what gave you that idea? I’m curious.
@@DennisCNolasco mostly because of my own insecurities, the end product always seamed so final and complete.
I am so glad I watched this. I’ve been struggling for a couple of months with a commission. I’m almost done with it but it has been a very stressful journey.
Stan says such good stuff about his own process
I love listening to you both. Marshall can't stop giving great advice and sharing ideas and artists out of the blue he's just master oogway with a pencil
Love these draftsmen clips. Hearing these insights from experienced artists. Are you aware the good you are providing to beginner artists ?...in any case, thanks, really appreciate.
Marshall, that was a brilliant explanation. Thanks! 👍🌞❤
I was needing to hear that Rockwell quote, thanks.
Thank you
Always excellent insights! Thanks guys
Great one..
Needed this. Thank you
Amazing content as always.
This is great, that has been my greatest problem, it's like I want to get a drawing done in one sitting and I end up ignoring all the process behind it, leading me to frustration
Very nice explanation!
I love you guys.
I miss the podcast ;w;
If I wanted to be a Maven in perspective does Marshall’s video course for 12 dollars have all the information I need?
Whooo!!!!!
in machine learning, they call this "exploration, then exploitation".
Marshall's voice feels like putting my head to my fathers breast and listening him while he is talking to someone. Makes me relaxed.
