@@Jezza819 When John was in the UK. The bugle was a long running podcast he was part of. The irony it was originally part of one of the newspaper that news corp owns.
Honestly I’m glad to see how John’s return confirms that the Bugle is alive and well. I wouldn’t want to substitute him with all the regulars since he left. I’m happy to see John and Andy together, it’s a lovely moment in this audio newspaper’s history. And it would be amazing if he could appear slightly more often than once every half a decade. But really, i love where the Bugle is at. I think it has become better.
Speaking as someone who discovered The Bugle roughly 8 years ago and went through all the backlog available at the time, this has been the best Christmas Special of the year and, perhaps, of the decade.
Ulfednar - Speaking as someone who has discovered The Bugle this Christmas Day - I am going to be very busy. Merry Christmas from New Zealand - no snow ploughs here !!!
John you will be pleased to know we actually have Spready Mercury here in Wiltshire working hard with Usain Salt, Arnold Schwartzegritter and the Grittersaurus to name just a few...!
I am absolutely devastated that we don't get more than an hour of the glasses, the nose, the legend that is John Oliver. Who is in fact the twistiest of Olivers.
Pure facts, he totally is the twistiest!! And yea agree, saaame. Occasionally, somewhere in my unconscious, I'm sure I break down like BUT GODDAMMN WHY DID HE HAVE TO LEAVE US etc ..... because he plus Andy via bugle is an actual necessity, vital to life.
Thanks Andy, John, and Chris!!! I love the Bugle and have been a regular Bugle podcast listener for just over a year. Your humor in the time of T****, Brexit, Covid19, and the other ghastly plagues of human greed and stupidity are a real bright spot, sort of. Enjoy seeing your laughter and fun as you interact with each other!! Thanks for sharing that, too. Love your backdrop, Andy. Wonder if Pieter Bruegel the Elder's copyrights have run out... think BugleBruegel merch. Best wishes to you and Buglers everywhere for a happy, peaceful, healthy, reasonably good, better than this year, new year!!🙃
5 minutes in and John Oliver has me crying with laughter. To think he was like this in the middle of what was still a pretty shitty situation, that's just amazing.
Having this just pop into my feed for the first time ever, I have to ask myself how on earth have I never come across this show before now? JFC now I’m wondering what else on this green earth I am missing out on. I won’t sleep tonight.
Correction, nish is like a brown John Oliver tbh. John is the O.G. also there are yearrrs of john and Andy, being astonishing ridiculous and nonsensical on this podcast. (Lately I've been listening to the earlier shows on SoundCloud, but I've noticed them/ some, on YT, as well. It is integral to one's thriving in life, that they experience these shows/eps). Regardless, I absolutely adore both john and nish, TO THE MAX. They are literally the actual joy of life. But honestly, somehow, more so, WITH Andy also present. I have observed also, that no one seems to make john OR nish laugh as hard as Andy does. And seeing as they are both my favourite laughers in the world, this is also a rather important detail. Andy is magical. He's basically a unicorn. John, nish and Andy all together, would legit be my dream team. Dukes of delightfulness, sultans of silliness. Absolute goddamn legends. Who can't even get through one sentence without giggling or tittering, and often then forgetting what they were even trying to say. Not that it made sense anyways. Alas, my life would be complete :3 💜💜💜
I started listening to the bugle after trying to find more John Oliver , the latest episode on that date was his last. Enjoyed every episode since, some of those in person, and good to see Johnny showbiz back :)
John missed riffing freely with Andy. You can absolutely hear it :p Although I very much also believe that he he did not remember correctly or miss how bad the pun runs were...
My least favorite time of the year is the couple of months that Last Week Tonight is off for the holidays. Thank you for giving me my John Oliver fix...especially this year!
As a Belgian, I'm happy to host a few Bugle-approved copulating kermits. Nice backdrop of Babel by Pieter Breughel the Elder (different spellings possible), Andy!
Thank you. It was nice to have a "John Oliver fix", since it'll be awhile before we see him again regularly. Funny, I don't recall him mentioning the Bugle in any of his interviews. He did mention his old country didn't appreciate him.
Dave Gorman briefly worked on the Daily Show years ago. When he got back, Channel 4 told him that they were thinking about a British version and they asked if he could think of anyone who could host it. He suggested John Oliver and they replied that they didn't like his accent.
I transferred to a new job and lost my long commutes and therefore lost the time to listen to the Bugle until I just now discovered it is also here on UA-cam and can convince my partner to watch it since there is a visual element! Back on the Bugle!
This has been a shit year. But this has made up for it. Brilliant seeing and hearing you two back together again. Have a great Christmas and New year everyone. X
Ah, the Good Old Days of 2020... Watching this episode in 2024, I'm torn over how to feel when comparing your fatalistic optimism (LOL) and the reality that has transpired since then... Both in the US. the UK, and elsewhere in the world. Can I *please* move to New Zealand????😢
all this episode is missing is some old favorites in the news. a story about some horn-based berlusconi mischief would have tied this whole shebang beautifully.
"...some filthy foreign nonsense..." is the most lovely phrase that simply rolls off the tongue and I will be using it liberally from now on to refer to the east side of Portland, Oregon, which is, quite frankly, the most baffling collection of human beings those of us on the west side of Portland, Oregon, have ever beheld. I thank you.
I saw someone playing bagpipes with flames coming out the top while riding a unicycle on the West side. As a Portlander myself, I must say both sides of the river are populated with baffling human beings... might be something in the water, lol. Keep Portland Weird is not just a bumper sticker, it's a lifestyle. Personally, I love it! 😂😂😂

As an American person I understood about 20% of this content and I'd still rather listen to John Oliver talk about pretty much anything, over the other stuff in my UA-cam feed right now (since there's no new Colbert)
I knew that the world went to shit when Jon left the Bugle! I KNEW IT! Lovely to see the gang back together again. Would love it if this were to become a yearly event or so.
I never heard of the Bugle. I love John Oliver. This ended up in my feed. I'm thankful. Watching on Christmas Eve and enjoying myself.
Same here, never heard of the Bugle but thought I would give this a watch, so glad I did.

the first time we get to See john's reaction to a pun run...thank you Chris 😖
