- Did you know John Oliver and Cookie Monster co-anchor a nightly news broadcast about words?
Just kidding, that's not a thing. But you would TOTALLY watch that show.

Can this be a real news channel?
If only..
^This. Make it happen.
Surf Bort, Surf Bort...
I mean, John Oliver does have his own news show.
The creator of the word pronounces "djah-ih-f". But that is completele counterintuitive so I agree with the party that pronounces "gih-f".(gif)
THIS JUST IN: Leaked footage of avowed Englishman John Oliver saying 'cookie' instead of 'biscuit', 'vacation' instead of 'holiday', and pronouncing 'scone' all wrong.
We use cookie for one type of biscuit (anything like Maryland cookies) and half the people pronounce scone in one way, the other half the other way. But you got me on vacation...
I actually know all that, but I was joking.
Yeah, no, Americans are wrong.
It's part of the conditions for his citizenship
quarkwrok If its half and half in America than most people in the world pronounce it "scoan", and honestly, Id say they're right, at least to the extent that it is possible for a word with two distinct and widely used pronunciations to have one correct pronunciation. Hank Green does a good job of explaining why in his vlogs on the pronunciation of "GIF"
I think Jim Henson would be proud that the Muppets are still just as funny all these years after he left us.
Id argue this one of the least funny muppets things ive ever seen lol and i love Oliver and McKinnon
I'd argue that Jim Henson didn't create Sesame Street. He did assist for a year or two back in '69-'70, helping create a couple of characters, but didn't do a whole lot after that. Sesame Street is literally not The Muppets.
@@georgemcduffey2622ok, if you separate “creating all the muppets for Sesame Street” from “creating Sesame Street” yeah, then I guess. You’re saying the voice of Kermit the Frog, the voice of Ernie, the creator of Cookie Monster, the director of the original “C is for Cookie” segment just “helped” or “assisted”? I mean, if you’re just an idiot, I might forgive you, but you have google, man. Couldn’t even bother to look it up?
I love that the picture for "Bromance" is of Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart, the ultimate bromance.
didn't even notice that. lol
I didn't notice how cute
Except for the fact that the B is silent
“And people are watching this RIGHT NOW?” “Well, they were until a few minutes ago.” Savage, Telly.
"The word Crumb ends with a B but you never hear it. What's it doing back there, and how can you protect yourself?"
...After that I absolutely had to watch the whole thing. That was brilliant.
I had to as well.
But I'm still worried. They didn't say how I can protect myself. What if there's B's out there?
What if I'm allergic to B's? What can I do?!
I think you mean brillant
(I know it’s a reference)
@@Widdekuu91 Makes me think of prescription drug commercials... "Don't take this if you're allergic to it." WHY WOULD ANYONE INTENTIONALLY TAKE SOMETHING THEY KNOW THEY ARE ALLERGIC TO?!?!?
@@Widdekuu91 Leave out a vase of fresh flowers. It will distract them.
@@fatfox57 "OOOHHHH, OOOHHHHHH"
"You get it?"
"No"
"Are people watching this?"
"They were until just moments ago..."
Savage
my heart just grew two sizes
You should see a doctor.
+Trevor Greenleaf lmao 😂
Your heart gonna need a bigger pair of pants
I would watch this every night.
imagine oliver talking about music, accompanied by animal! ANIMAL!!!
I love John and Cookie together, we need a reunion 🙏
Cookie Monster brings such gravitas to the news, he should be on more often!
Thank you for addressing the rampant misuse of the word literally. Also Cookie Monster makes everything better.
I blame Cookie Monster for my lack of motivation in school
Because...C is for cookie
And
That was good enough for me
Do we call them jraphics? No graphics guh homie. Gif with the G sound not J.
Literally 🤣🥳🍪
@@supergluehotty So how do you explain "giraffe" or "gyroscope", then?
TFW cookie monster is the one who points out to you, for the first time, that the word 'abbreviation' is ironically long.... *facepalm*
SalemFU - Sesame Street still educating us all these years later.
Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellan as the graphic for "bromance" -- perfect!
It's good to see a recovering addict get a second chance to work at the news, stay strong cookie monster!
"Senior Word _orrespondent" That's fucking detail. Props.
hilarious!!!
Oh my god, the Bromance icon is Patrick Stewart and Ian McClellan in Laurel and Hardy hats!
That might just be the best touch in this whole thing
Definitely
That picture is from a production of Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot" they did together.
(just one of those little pointless factoids that rattle around the back of one's head)
John just loves this so much! Also, this is a really fun thing for both kids and adults! Even if you they don't know who John Oliver is, kids usually know what news broadcasts are supposed to be like and can laugh together with the grown-ups.
never have I been so well informed
"What's it doing back there and how can you protect yourself" god help me I love this man as a new anchor.
The news is better when John Oliver and Cookie Monster deliver it: on.mash.to/Y8qUth
This fucking 'I will get gang raped by Colbert and Stewart INDIAN style Englishmen to get famous'. WTF does he want from USA? Oh, he wants to take advantage and make fun of USA like all fucking liberal foreigners.
Higgs Boson looks like someone is trying to get into the next fan mail report.
Awesome, InstaPhamous really does deliver!
I would like too hear Kermit and Miss Piggy and CoOkie Monster & Animal
to do BBC Radio Ones News-Beat
it b funny
They should put them on 60 Minutes.
Roker-Oliver-Monster. The Holy Trinity of pure class.
I watched the outtakes before watching this. I'm glad for some reason.
Cookie Monster (my childhood hero, who's song is the anthem of my life, to this day. If you don't realise that I'm talking about C Is For Cookie, we can't be friends.), Al Roker (who made weather fun. Much more fun than my local weatherman. Also, Al just seems like a cool guy.), and John Oliver (who I've recently discovered and was a hardcore fan of shortly thereafter). So much yes. This is so adorable and I can't stop smiling.
Hey..that's good enough for me..
Am I the only one falling out of their chair laughing at what John Oliver said the whole skit-wide? I'm 33 and I still enjoy the jokes. :)
* hair
@@robknightfilms noice 😄
when the woman walked up behind the reporter I soo expected her say something like: "forget about your stupid [c]hair, my name used to be [C]harlotte!!" and then I remembered this was from a kid's show. 😓
That's Kate McKinnon.
@@nancygerette SNL's Sea Cliff NY Gal?
I didn't just see this. I didn't just see this. it is a wonderful dream, the world isn't that good to me.
When she snuck up on Telly I thought she was going to say: "Dough her right in the Cookie!"
+Saul Trimble brilliant.
Ahhhh
I would watch three hours of their outtakes while they riff on each other.
*sigh* I laughed harder at the "Storm" joke than I should have.
The slow, gradual beating of the joke somehow kept making it funnier.
when you're not whining about social justice and the left, you're watching this?
Way to miss the point, Steve.
Cookie Monster's blank look after the Abbreviation statement killed me
It's like he was waiting for us to respond like when Dora asks questions 😂😂😂
I NEED this news show!!! Can we please have this as a recurring series!!!
Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen as the bromance graphic...genius.
i died again. stupid adorableness.
This was just BRILLENT.
(Last Week Tonight watchers know what I mean.)
Do you mean Iminim?
The fake audience is *h*angry now.
You have no idea how disappointed I am that the h wasn’t bold.
"You can't sit on hair!"
Tell that to the mustache ride!
XD I love that part with Kate McKinnon hahha 1:42
Two of my favorite TV personalities, together like a peanut butter and chocolate chip cookie! The out takes are super funny too! It's weird but since I grew up on Sesame Street, even as an adult they don't seem like puppets to me 😀.
Apparently John Oliver and Seth Meyers agree - they said in an interview with each other on Meyers' show that (both having worked with Muppets for a skit) both of them caught themselves dealing almost exclusively with the puppets and not the human, you know, KNEELING NEXT TO THEM. As I understand it, the Muppeteers would have it no other way. They're a credit to their craft.
I wish the news was literally exactly like this. I'd actually watch it.
Love his expression at 4:40. Kinda want to make that into a wallpaper or something.
What a great combination! I’d watch these two together anytime. More!
This is LITERALLY one of the best things I've seen on UA-cam today 🙌 ❤️
That tie was literally Chekov's cookie.
The outtakes were funnier than the actual production
This was so cute I want more! John Oliver + Cookie Monster make a great team
I watched the outtakes yesterday and I'd watch this regularly if it became a thing!
Great video overall, I loved it! ... but also, the transition elements just having random words in the background was a great little touch that I didn't want to go unnoticed!
John oliver collab with Sesame street? He definitely made it, good job John!
This is LITERALLY the best thing I've seen on youtube today so far. And literally, because this is only my third video on youtube today.
MORE. We need MORE.
This is amazing!!! More of this!!
YOU GUYS HAVE TO MAKE MORE OF THIS. Best news I've ever seen!
We need more of this iconic duo. It's been too long!
I think I just found my new favorite news channel!
I need more of this
We need more of this! It's great stuff! :D
This is so wholesome and I love it
Watch out takes. Not so much!
Both of my Idols and role models in one video. I never thought I would actually get to see this!
More please!! This is awesome
Loving the bright mood and genius of the episode :)
i think we need this every day. this is amazing and honestly making me laugh so hard.
This is *literally* the best thing that has ever happened.
Super silliness. Cookie Monster's my favorite Sesame Street character
The most ambitious crossover of our generation.
I think my heart just melted
This is making me smile so much right now.
ITS HOAS! The letter "" is missing. What will we do? What does this mean for ookies? T.T
I think it would be HAOS, not sure what Choas is.
@@georgerosebush9754 I think thats the level of haos it is.
It's so haoti you an't even spell haos right...
or that person is just an illiterate unt.
The outtakes were way better than the actual production.
Thank you Dan!
John Oliver and the Cookie Monster deliver an entire news program on WORDS.
THAT was the coolest thing I've seen all day!!!!
This is probably the greatest thing I've ever seen
There's a blooper video for this and it's absolute GOLD
My God, is this the video I needed to see tonight!
How have I not I seen this until now
The GIF part, HAHAHA
Oh my god, I love this!
This was awesome! I also love Stephen Colbert's Cookie Monster interview! And, there's also an NPR Cookie Monster interview floating around out there
That Mustache bit - GOLD. With the actual mustache, the subtle must ask undercurrent (which I just made the connection with), perfect.
Omg! John Oliver, Sesame Street and Parks and Rec in one video!! How come I haven't seen this before?!?
What I needed to hear.....
They were until a few moments ago.....lololololol priceless.
I needed this laugh so bad today. Thank you :)
Can this be an ongoing segment? Because that was Amazing!!
1:43 "Well, Telly, I wish I can unsee it." (let it sink in)
Most of the day-to-day life is either dreary or depressing veering into outright horror. This, however, is pure joy, and even my depressive ass can't help but smile through the whole fucking thing. Thank you.
+100 for using the Stewart/McKellen picture for "bromance.'
Was that Nick's wife Megan Mullaley offscreen? :)
Yes.
Yes.
Message to John Oliver - Zaltor The Merciless will not take your punning lightly. There will be retribution. Expect pun runs.
Peter Johnson hail zaltor and his immense lack of mercy...
Peter Johnson wow it sounds like the joke was PUNishment for you.
Loved this! More!!!
How did I not know about this!
Oh my word, this is stellar.
Nice work guys!
Don't you mean
*ookie Monster?
messup at 0:07
John. You made a pun. You LOVE PUNS JUST ADMIT IT.
great, but where's the all time leading Muppet reporter, Kermit d. Frog?
With Disney.
Tasteful Tuna so, he's in a better place?
Depends how you look at it.
Tasteful Tuna I'd rather not.
You cannot imagine how much I adore Kate.. she's one of the best things that ever happened to SNL or in general EVER.
This is my new favorite news channel.
This is the best video on all of UA-cam.
This is one of my favorite videos on the entire internet 😂😂😂😂
This was awesome.
