It's because Main series pokemon games are JRPG's while Pokken is a tekken sort of fighting game. I still love both even though pokken doesn't get much love.

For me it was because their is legit hundreds of pokemon and yes, I dont expectt them to add that many on here. But they only added like 8. Less then 10 for sure. Then they released some for DLC which was a big turn off. They could have easily added around 30 pokemon. Even 20 or around their would be fun.

Me. I'm the guy that's always wanted to fight as the Pokemon. Haha. I love it, even though they're right, it IS very technical, a lot to learn to try to master. And it's better multi-player as well. I think those are the 2 limiting factors
I was born in 1993. I didn’t collect Pokémon cards or watch the tv series as a child. I did watch and own the first Pokémon movie. I also played Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon snap on Nintendo 64 as a child. I did play Pokémon yellow on GameBoy color when I was in college a friend gifted it to me free with a yellow gameboy color. I did play a few Pokémon games on the 3DS but I don’t remember the names of them. Now I play Pokémon Go the most on my iPhone X. I have the Nintendo Switch Lite in the color turquoise. I really enjoyed seeing what is on your Switch and the games you play.

I honestly agree with you on Arms Lamarr. I got for Christmas back in 2017, and I thought that the game looked cool, but it got so wack in like the first week of playing it. It's better if you have friends to play it with.

Fighting games are kind of their own niche, where some people love them, but many people find them hard to get into. Pokemon tournament is a game that's more likely to attract people who like fighting games and are familiar with pokemon rather then people who like pokemon and are familiar with fighting games.

To answer your question about the Pokken Tournament game (in my opinion, as a Pokemon fan) I feel like what makes Pokemon platform games so fun is the story and being able to collect Pokemon. Battles are of course fun, but battling with a team you have raised makes it a lot more personal, oppose to being the Pokemon itself in a battle. Because of that, I think a lot of Pokemon fans just didn't find the game very appealing, and it wasn't anything new enough to bring in new fans because unlike a game like Smash where it brings in characters from a bunch of games into one, Pokken Tournament focuses entirely on Pokemon but in a different way than past games. So it seems like the game was directed towards Pokemon fans, however it being a non-platform Pokemon game just made it weird and not very appealing

Regarding the question about people not liking Pokkén Tournament, most people who play the normal Pokémon games like the RPG mechanics and you can explore the whole region to catch all the Pokémon you want, were as Pokkén Tournament is a fighting game not an RPG.

I think the premise of Pokken Tournament was good, but not a lot of people got into it. However I'm a fighting game kind of guy, but I very much enjoy JRPGS and I think a lot of people are just use to those kind of Pokemon games for years.
I got Octopath Traveler, Xenoblade Chronicle 2, Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu, BOTW, Bayonetta 2, , Fire Emblem Warrior, ARMS, Child of Light, Sonic Mania, Mario Odyssey Monster Hunter Generation Ultimate, and finally Minecraft.
As a Pokemon fan i like the turn based combat and time to think about my next move i also come up with new strategies to use against other people online .poken tournament only has a few select Pokemon unlike the core game that's coming in 2019 with 600+ Pokemon .Pokemon let's go pikachu and eevee are also limited to the first 151 and the recently released meltan and its evolution melmetal lets go is a striped down version of the core game ( removes nature system, the removal of wild battles, the breathing system and held items system ) the starters base stats have bin raise above normal so that the game doesn't get too hard new moves have bin add for no reason other than to make the game easier for example pikachu leaning double kick witch he dose not lean naturally! .i digress a lot of people loves these games and i can see why their fun but thair not the Pokemon games for me and a few others but we buy them any way because its Pokemon just look at Pokemon lets go's sales numbers their even going higher than some core games. If you like Mario and Rabbids, you should try Valkyria Chronicles 4 on Switch. It's great. The first one is there too, but personally the fourth entry is very slightly better in my own opinion and doesn't require you to have played the past entry at all.
Everyone who buys a Switch MUST buy Super Mario Odyssey, one the greatest games I ever played. It's right up there with Halo 3 and Skyrim as my favourite games ever.
I suggest watching Pokemon its so much fun to watch! and then you'll understand the game how it works. but its good that your learning Pokemon and i think your starting to get into it! I am a Pokemon fan as well. Starlink on the Switch was decent. It has repetitive gameplay, but the Starfox content drew me in 🙂. The digital bundles are a much better value.
