yeah, really disappointing to be honest... it's like every single example must have some "umph" so that it will seem special or exciting, pretty much the opposite of fundamental. even something as simple as ex 3 was forced onto a low B of 6 string bass. i was hoping to get some words of wisdom on stuff i supposedly know *sigh* roscoe is such a great accompanist, i was hoping he would share his wisdom and insight on tasteful playing, even if he would have only showed lines i know or whatever, but instead it's like a bag of tricks designed to help 14 year olds show off at a jam session. at least they know what bass to buy thanks to those little endorsements in the middle =P I guess his signature tapping thing is cool but not very meaningful if you're just parroting what he's doing and anything but fundamental. perhaps the only fundamental bits is a half baked mishmash of shuffle lines with very little by way of explanationing around an hour and five minutes in and through the end. too bad.
they are blues foundations in the style of roscoe beck, you are not learning progressive rock foundations here...you should search for favourite blues bassist then
I had the same haircut back then :) Now I am bald, but I got a Fender Roscoe Beck V bass and I love it. Very interesting, Roscoe knows what he is talking about. But a little too much tapping for me. Check out his work with Eric Johnson.
If I'd have bought this Video, I'd have been pissed off at the amount of times the camera DIDNT stay on the bass during the songs included, etc - FOCUS, people! This was supposed to be for Bass Players! Yes, Robben is amazing, but that's why you made another Video for guitar players! And when it actually WAS on the bass? It was really pretty sub-par photographic work too...
Matthew Ortiz This video was published years ago in 90´s with an audio CD with similar exemples on the video and a thin book with tabulature n´ penthagram and notes-it was call BLUES BASS BASICS-It´s psible you can find a copy through internet.Amazone sure!
Matthew Ortiz Out of print unless you can find it used with the booklet. Even then, it was only available on VHS. Looks like it's time to go old school and learn it "off the record". At least there is the advantage of this video for some visual reference
While this guy loves playing what a rhythm guitar would play an octave up on his bass, someone else should play and actual bass guitar like a bass player would,
+dezziwood555 if you'd bothered to check him out, he is one of THE most bottom players around. And there is nothing wrong with knowing and playing up above the 12 fret. I like the fact that he has command of the whole instrument, instead of the boring I iv V most of the bass players would.
Yeah when I think of blues fundamentals on bass, I naturally go to a six string chorus slap solo too.

Roscoe's dad use to run a pool hall in Atlanta Texas. Real nice family.

Roscoe is one of the greatest musicians of our time.
I love that Fender 6 string Roscoe is using! That thing looks bad-ass!
A wall of Trace Elliots, always makes my day.
Muchas gracias por subirlo, yo lo tengo en VHS, pero sería un coñazo ahora mismo enchufar el vídeo etc.
Roscoe is an absolutely superb and beautiful musician x
He looks like mark whalberg playing bass :)
Mmm... Beck's a great bassist!
Someone noticed Robben Ford taking a eletric shock in microphone in 25:23?
Pedro Augusto Very observant. He certainly gets a good zap....and says ouch!
+Mark Plantenberg Ha ha!! I am watching this because I love the tune Zap!

In 1976 probably, I sold Roscoe my 73-key Wurlitzer spinet. Don`t remember who he got to help him move down the stairs.
Now I can pitch my old VHS. Thanks!

dezziwood555 So he is suppose to use the whole bass. Interesting since he has own line produced by Fender.
What a band!!!!!!!!!THE BLUE LINE..............
