Since Resolve 19 there have been some issues that make it unusable (Even when you install it manually). We're so happy you've decided to dedicate the time to updating it!!! You're a real one.
Looks like I found this just at the right time, I did a manual install and so far it seems to be working, some minor tweaking was needed for some of the subs, but in general I'm very happy with the results. Thank you for creating this!
Hey Tom, this has been working great for me until I upgraded to 19 and not it won't work... REALLY wish I hadn't upgraded yesterday... Any insights are greatly appreciated!!! I've tried to figure out the script using Chat and Claude and neither have been able to help me figure out why this isn't working anymore. @@danamichellestyer Danamichellestyer, yes, Resolves 19.0 update did break the auto-subs plugin, but be patient and Tom will have it up and running this month!
Guys, if you're having the same issue I was having where in console it says "Numpy is unavailable." Check to see if it says to downgrade your numpy. If it does then try this; this worked for me: - Go into command prompt and type "pip uninstall numpy" then press enter - After it's finished uninstalling, type "pip install numpy==1.26.4" then press enter (you don't have to use this version but it's the version that worked for me) - After it's done installing, you can check the version to make sure by typing "pip list" pressing enter and looking for where it says numpy, it'll say the current version you have next to it I hope this helps someone!
I tried 1.26.0 and then restarted DaVinci and it started to work for me!! 1.26.4 did NOT work. I'd recommend trying a few different versions, restarting DaVinci after each new version, and making sure it's running as admin :)
Came from Patrick, but holy moly I am blown away by not just your incredibly handy and easy to use script - and the straight-to-the-point, no strings attached video tutorial - but also the kindness to make the script FREE. I have seen people charge thirty bucks for an asset pack a fraction as valuable! You have a clear passion behind making Resolve easier to use. That part about fusion documentation being scarce came straight from the heart. I'm a mainly hobbyist teenage filmmaker using Resolve for a bunch of different things, so I don't have the financial capacity to afford Premiere or Resolve Studio. This saved my life. Great script!!!! I loved it! For those looking for technical feedback, I'm unfortunately not able to give it. However, I'll quickly share my experience. I edit my own videos for my online course (not self-promoting, it's not here on UA-cam) and I usually took an hour or so doing the subtitles. EVERY. VIDEO. Now, I just take 15 minutes or so (I like to really and manually refine the script's position of the subtitles, which is already great.) Writing down and dividing the sentences alone is so helpful, and the fact that this is free? Well done!!!
Had a lil trouble, but updating my Resolve did the trick for anyone out there that it just freezes on. Works like a damn charm, thanks for all the work you put in on this. Get this dude to 500 subs y'all

Hi, Thank you for the subtitle script. I downloaded and installed the script successfully and can find it on the script menu under workspace in Davinci Resolve. Then I created the +Text on the timeline as you explained dragged it to the media pan and deleted it from the timeline. Then I ran the script but the generate script window didn't open. Please help
Amazing work, I know there are other apps that will add AI subtitles but sometimes it's so annoying having to go into 3 different apps just to make one video for social media, love anything that helps me get more done in resolve without having to fork out the money for studio.
Under the "select template text" make sure you select the "text+" option. Mind was hanging on transcribing audio till I noticed that haha. Amazing script man.
Hi, I have a question: Everything works fine with the Transcription, but after it successfully creates the SRT file, the script won't proceed to actually add the textboxes to my timeline. It stopts at "Transcription Complete!" and in the Console it says "list index out of range" Any idea what could be the problem?
When I clicked on 'Auto Sub,' the window did not appear. I'm using DaVinci 19, and the Python version I installed is the latest. Do you know what went wrong?
(FIXED.. see replies below and discord for autosubs) This script does the render of the audio and then stops. Console shows "Numpy is not available". But I see the numba and numpy folders and trying "pip install numpy" from site-packages folder yeilds "Requirement already satisfied: numpy in c:\users\***\appdata\local\programs\python\python312\lib\site-packages (2.0.0)"... any clues for me? I have deleted the numpy folders and reinstalled. I have re-run python install over the top.
1. Go to Windows PowerShell and run it as administrator 2. Type pip uninstall numpy 3. Then pip install -U numpy==1.26.0 After it should work, I just spent 2 hours researching this error and I finally figured it out 😭

I have been trying to get this to work for the last 2 hours, I got up to the point where i have the auto subs button but it does not do anything when i click it. When i go into the console everything is fine and installed except the ending message says "ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'torch._prims_common' " Please help. I have tried so many fixes.
Try running manual installation process. Nothing popped up on my Mac. Then I opened console (davinci-workspace-concole) and tried running the script again. It said No module named stable_whisper So I ran the installation of whisper and stable-ts in terminal again and it worked, the window appeared

This does NOT work. Workspace->Scripts->"Auto-Subs" does NOT show up. Only four option show up for me: Comp, Color, Deliver and No Scripts. I have the latest version of Da Vinci too (18.6).

In case anyone is getting the following error under MacOS while trying to create the subtitles, don't panic. Error: Solution: Run the Certificates.command in the python folder in a terminal window like: /Applications/Python\ 3.11/Install\ Certificates.command

It doesn't really work for any other language for me(it will guess the similar word in English from Czech), do you have some tips for making it work for every language?
I'd had some problems with transcribing from Polish when I used "any languages" options, but I've tried "translate to english" and suddenly it worked as I wanted - it gave me full transcribtion in Polish without translating it to English. Maybe give it a try? 😂
Nice, I like it 🙂 It occasionally skips small parts of audio track for some reason, but, it's negligible when used on large clips... Most of the time the AI part gets things right, unless there is a lots of background music mixed with ambient noise 😜 Very helpful, thanks for all your time and effort you put in this, highly appreciated 👍😊
Text Template problem! Its not letting me choose any Text+ option and only allows me to choose normal Text from the dropdown menu. Using normal text doesn't transcribe any text too, but it cuts the text file in proper places and that's all! I can't use dynamic Text+ at all.

Does this only works for Davinci Resolve 18? I'm currently still using the 17 and I;m on windows 11. I have followed the setup steps and everything went as it should but the auto-subs didn't show up in the workspace-script even after relaunching the app

I'm running into an error when attempting to run the script in Resolve 18.6. In the console, I get the message "ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'stable_whisper'". Confirmed that Python is installed properly and Resolve is seeing it as well as tested Whisper AI to transcribe audio via the command prompt. So everything seems to be installed correctly. Anyone else have this issue?
@@alexgsproductions i think the whole problem is that our system didn't installed the whisper ai automatically by that direct link , maybe we have to install that seperately.... and i am not a genius in these code things ? if you found any other way for auto subs let me know gentleman

After I updated to 19, auto subs won't let me choose my text+ caption in the dropdown menu

Please let us know when you update the light version to resolve 19!! The option to select your text has been broken.

This does NOT work. Workspace->Scripts->"Auto-Subs" does NOT show up. Only four option show up for me: Comp, Color, Deliver and No Scripts. I have the latest version of Da Vinci too (18.6).
Hey, when I click on auto-subs from the scripts workplace, it just doesn't open even after minutes. What to do now? Everything shown before was followed.

In case anyone is getting the following error under MacOS while trying to create the subtitles, don't panic.
Error:
Solution: Run the Certificates.command in the python folder in a terminal window like:
/Applications/Python\ 3.11/Install\ Certificates.command

I am having problems with installation, when I run the script it's says download is completed but when I go to workspace - script it's showing only 4 options (comp, color, deliver, no script)

Hey! Have you found a solution? I'm running into the same issue. I tried the solution explained on GitHub to replace the Python directory with wherever Python is installed on your computer - but it doesn't work.

I did all installing python, whisper,ffmepg,pip and still when I open on davinchi script it when I click on it it never opens up

It doesn't really work for any other language for me(it will guess the similar word in English from Czech), do you have some tips for making it work for every language?
I'd had some problems with transcribing from Polish when I used "any languages" options, but I've tried "translate to english" and suddenly it worked as I wanted - it gave me full transcribtion in Polish without translating it to English. Maybe give it a try? 😂
There was a bug that is now fixed where it was translating every other language into English

It occasionally skips small parts of audio track for some reason, but, it's negligible when used on large clips...
Most of the time the AI part gets things right, unless there is a lots of background music mixed with ambient noise 😜

Text Template problem!
Its not letting me choose any Text+ option and only allows me to choose normal Text from the dropdown menu.
Using normal text doesn't transcribe any text too, but it cuts the text file in proper places and that's all!
I can't use dynamic Text+ at all.
I change language Davinci resolve Portuguese to English and work

Does this only works for Davinci Resolve 18? I'm currently still using the 17 and I;m on windows 11. I have followed the setup steps and everything went as it should but the auto-subs didn't show up in the workspace-script even after relaunching the app

How did you add the animation effect? My text just appears and disappears, I cannot figure it out.
Doesn't unfortunately work with Finnish language, even though I click the "use native language".

I'm running into an error when attempting to run the script in Resolve 18.6. In the console, I get the message "ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'stable_whisper'". Confirmed that Python is installed properly and Resolve is seeing it as well as tested Whisper AI to transcribe audio via the command prompt. So everything seems to be installed correctly. Anyone else have this issue?

@@alexgsproductions i think the whole problem is that our system didn't installed the whisper ai automatically by that direct link , maybe we have to install that seperately.... and i am not a genius in these code things ? if you found any other way for auto subs let me know gentleman

Mad respect! The missing subtitles feature was the one thing killing me using the free version of Resolve, as subs are so stinking popular now. The work you did, and how the script just works, is impressive. Much appreciated and keep up the great work!
