I really dont understand why people have an issue with Tesla's Speedo location. My wife is 61 and I'm 65, we've done 40000 klms in our two Model 3'S and seeing the Speedo has never been an issue. If the Speedo is in the instrument in front of the steering wheel you glance down. With the Tesla you glance left. No issue. Sure with HUD it's in your line of sight and you don't have to glance down or left however I remember test driving a Golf 8 with a HUD and the Speedo was so in my face it was distracting me from focusing on the road. Another point to make is with autopilot on the car stays dead on the speed it's set at so as long as it's not set higher then the speed limit I don't even have to glance at it.
😂 I agreed. I think it’s because they want to speed but don’t want to get caught speeding so they blame the location of the speedo. When I drive Tesla's don't have an issue with looking at the speedo on the screen. As the speed is displayed closet to the steering wheel, so not looking far to see it. You think the Mustang Mach E has a nice interior just wait until the Xpeng G6 and Nio Onvo L60 come to Australia. Both cars will undercut both the Tesla and Mach-E by thousands of dollars and offer 800-volt architecture for faster charge times and such amenities as stalks, massaging seats, heads-up display, bigger batteries, longer range, etc.
Why not wait until the model Y "refresh"? Also my experience with owning several EVs is that the Teslas are simply more efficient. But, I pretty much agree with your other likes and dislikes.
I already own 2 Teslas. A MYP and Model X. MYP is a great car for under 55k and Model X is the best car for under 80k USD. Put in another order for the Cybertruck bc EVs are awesome to drive and own. I am loyal to Tesla is bc of the quality and Musk. I love the fact that he speaks his mind and doesnt give a crap about the people who will get butthurt bc he has an opinion. Don't ever change and u got me as a customer for life.
Because Ford gave it to him for free to long term test. I'm guessing if the other brands had offered the same, he'd have taken that too. But I don't think there's much spare stock of what you mentioned, whereas Mach E has slow sales so need some publicity
Maybe next car the Skoda Enyaq? Be far more family friendly and they would be available by the time you do the next upgrade. Also a video on the lease options would be great👍

Hey Paul, I’m a long time follower. I’d like to be honest with you, hope you appreciate my honesty from a loyal follower point of view. I don’t think it’s wrong to choose another brand of EV. I myself have crossed my mind to change to another brand of EV when it’s time to upgrade. I might look at Polestar or Mach E or KIA, etc as we know more EVs are coming into the market which is great! I was so looking forward to learning anything new you’ve found about the Tesla Y with the title of this video. I agree with you, broadening our horizon on EV ownership is a good idea but disappointingly you asked Ford for a free EV to drive for a limited time. I think you’ve lost the essence of what makes you different to other car reviewers as I remember you bought the Y and then started telling us how you dislike somethings from an owner perspective. That’s what we love about you. You own the car and tell it like it is. I acknowledged that you’ve said you remained impartial but it’s really hard not to overlook the fact that you’ve been given a car to drive. Wouldn’t you agree it’s a little disappointing? We don’t know what the deal you’ve made and we don’t want to think you’re not honest, I do believe you’re honest about your opinion, but it still disappoints me as your loyal follower. I hope you get my point without being upset. I don’t want to upset you. I want you to know I appreciate your honest reviews of cars, ICE or EV. I will still look forward to another car review :)
I like many things about the Mach E but something that I really dislike is the knob in the display. If you feel like you have to have a knob then fine. Put it under the display or in the center counsel. But putting it in the display makes me feel like they are trying to be the next blackberry. Just can’t let go of those buttons. ; )
Have been though the same process, loving my MME Select far more so than any Tesla. Other new Chinese cars, TBA for sure (xPeng, Zeekr etc). We shall see but the MME is a delight.
Thanks for the video Paul, interesting perspectives. Would love to see an in depth video, maybe a series of the State of the Electric Infrastructure in Australia and on a state by state level too
Good on you for trying different cars. I wonder what the charging experience is like away from home? How is that different to Tesla's or do they use the same charging infra?
If you really delve into what a novated lease entails, it's a total rip-off. Don't let them bamboozle you into thinking you're getting great tax benefits! Whatever tax benefits you are getting, they are getting negated by the exorbitant interest rate you are paying. They don't tell you that, but when I did my maths back in the day while researching novated leaases, and I asked if the interest factored in was actuatly 12.89%, Maxxia confirmed it!! There are also other factors to consider, so do your homework and do your maths!
Correct on your analysis of the interest rate. Cheaper if you can get lower interest rates on a standard loan. However interest rates are dependent on your credit score
@@mattfm6329 My credit score is excellent. The 12.89% was based on no negatively impacting financial factors. It would have been cheaper to access a redraw or an off-set account to get a better interest rate, or better yet, pay cash which is what I ended up doing.
I cancelled my model y last year after they didn’t deliver on time. They chose to keep my order fee . Left bad taste in my mouth. Wouldn’t consider Tesla again .
Mustang Mach-e door cards feel like rubber. This can't be serious. The Mach- e is so over priced. If the base was $50k we might be talking. He is a shill for whomever pays him.
It would be good to have a lengthy video on a wide variety of electric vehicles, BYD, Tesla, BMW, Land Rover, Toyota etc and do what you are saying in relation to the family real test
Hi Paul, long term real life car reviews are great. I’d like to see how many suit cases you can fit in the back of the mach E…so fully loaded as you would on a family road trip. To me this is where EVs still don’t quite compare to ice suvs that are more boxy rather than the swooped aero EV backs. Thnx
Any EV is going to have precipitous depreciation because they're evolving so quickly that each new model brutally undercuts the value of the old model. The only way to get the full value of your EV is to keep it until it's no longer viable to own. This will be exactly the same for the Ford Mach-e, so expect to lose a load of money on that too. Much as I would love to have an EV, there's just no economic case for people like me who buy high mileage cars and repair them themselves. Just the price of a new tyre (£270 for a Model Y) is enough to put me off, when mine currently cost me £60.
Its a shame you guys do not have the MachE Rally avaiable over there yet they fixed allot of things and it has the best ride of all the MachE's. The Rally MachE does not have a problem with power cutting out after a certain time and they added bigger motors to it too to help with performance also.
Both the same for AC charging - DC charging much of a muchness too. The Ford uses a superior battery for energy density, but my main concern with the battery is susceptibility to thermal runaway, which you don’t get in the Chinese Model Y we had.
Great video! It would be helpful if you could mention the pricing comparisons for these cars because, as you know, car manufacturers like to add an Australian tax.
As a long haul driver why doesn’t anyone review the cruise control of cars . I drove a Hyundai i30 till the engine died at 448k km. Loved the i30 but the useless cruise control stopped me from buying another. Toyota and Nissan are perfect. Please start testing cruise control especially on hills instead of whingeing about bloody piano black in cars, that got boring two years ago yet you still carry on about it .
Great idea for a review Paul!. Likewise, I feel EV car reviews should include more thoughts like those in this video, about charging, app limitations, mobile key, profiles, etc.. An EV (any brand) changes the lifestyle and habits to an extent. And these aspects impact day to day use as much as ride comfort and performance.
Interesting comment you made how easy it is to go over the speed limit. I own both quiet and noisy cars. I don't look at the speedo anywhere near as much with the noisy car as the audible engine revs lets me know roughly what speed I am doing.
Wow! This was a highly surprising video. A Ford? Really? OK, I'm listening to you as I fully appreciate your input.
Why dont you try one of the BMW EV products? The iX1/ iX2 for example? We've got a Model Y but decided to go for an iX2 for the next car.
How much is the insurance?
Interesting comparison, what drove you to the mustang over the EV6/Ionic 5?
Because Ford gave it to him for free to long term test. I'm guessing if the other brands had offered the same, he'd have taken that too. But I don't think there's much spare stock of what you mentioned, whereas Mach E has slow sales so need some publicity
Indeed! However I don't think we are going to see the Mach E vs a whole bunch of $1M+ supercars. :(
Maybe next car the Skoda Enyaq? Be far more family friendly and they would be available by the time you do the next upgrade. Also a video on the lease options would be great👍
Big fan of Mustang however end up buying Tesla model 3. Loved it has 00 regrets. Driving 18months plus 40k. No issues. Definitely not buying other cars. Heads up display got 1 from AliExpress and installed by myself. ❤ TESLA
Please do a video explaining more in depth on novated leases. I'm looking at getting one when new Model Y is released.
Yes to novated lease.
No to mustang Mach-E.
The only reason I’d cancel my Model Y order was if I wanted to wait for the new Model Y to be released and available for order! Everything else is just treading water in the interim.
Yea a video about Novated leases would be super helpful, especially what to look out for!
I would be more interested if it was a BYD as a family car long term
I think it’s for the better since the new Y is only but a few months away
You should do a novated lease video. A lot of people don’t understand it and think it’s the bees knees.
Thanks Paul!
The Maga Model Y... .. sorry Tesla model Y is a bit old and boring now.
I can see why you would like to try something else.
Im not entirely sold on the Ford Mustang in comparison with the hole mountain of new brands and models out there now.
But Im sure you will test a lot of them soon, so until then cheers mate.
Wait till Tesla updates it
@@RyanCowan Yes we'll wait.........
as always we wait for any updates or intelligent signs from mr Maga......Musk.
No signs so far..............................
Am I just crazy....or did this video come out 2 weeks ago after Paul's episode on The drivers show ..
He clocked baited the title two weeks ago but didn’t really explain it at all
It's not a Mustang....
What is it?
@@oggyoggy1299 It is a marketing wank
Yes it is. The company that owns the trademark says it is. That's that.
Tired comment. It's what ever Ford wants to call it.
@@richo2501 my biggest worry is that is a rebadged Temu Tesla from PRC
Wait! You have free window? Who is your service provider?
I like many things about the Mach E but something that I really dislike is the knob in the display. If you feel like you have to have a knob then fine. Put it under the display or in the center counsel. But putting it in the display makes me feel like they are trying to be the next blackberry. Just can’t let go of those buttons. ; )
Are you still driving the raptor?
It really annoyes me when EVERY car journalist says they need the speed in front of them, haven't you heard of cruise control!
Are you going to do a review on the Cupra Tavascan? I would love to hear your thoughts @CarExpert
From the kickoff I think having the car free makes it impartial!
Why are there no more reviews now days about normal cars that have engines or hybrids.electric electric electric
Have been though the same process, loving my MME Select far more so than any Tesla. Other new Chinese cars, TBA for sure (xPeng, Zeekr etc). We shall see but the MME is a delight.
Mach E have 36 seperate cooling hoses with 72 hose clamps which can spring a leak and create a nightmare.
Thanks for the video Paul, interesting perspectives.
Would love to see an in depth video, maybe a series of the State of the Electric Infrastructure in Australia and on a state by state level too
Good on you for trying different cars. I wonder what the charging experience is like away from home? How is that different to Tesla's or do they use the same charging infra?
ford should drop the mustang nonsense - it cheapens the legacy.
How would you compare your ford mach e vs kia ev6??
Waiting on the next model Paul with inbuilt Halon gas file suppression tech?
It would be good to have a lengthy video on a wide variety of electric vehicles, BYD, Tesla, BMW, Land Rover, Toyota etc and do what you are saying in relation to the family real test
An alleged car expert buying Teslas or any electric vehicle is beyond perplexing.
How does the KIA EV6 compare?
Some people are fortunate to be in a position to able to drop $400 and not think twice about it...most of us don't have that luxury.
Why not try a BYD model?
because Ford are handing these out to everyone
So this clown got a free car? I would also switch if that's the case.
Exactly
How’s the charging system between the 2 EV’s Paul?
Both the same for AC charging - DC charging much of a muchness too. The Ford uses a superior battery for energy density, but my main concern with the battery is susceptibility to thermal runaway, which you don’t get in the Chinese Model Y we had.
Great video! It would be helpful if you could mention the pricing comparisons for these cars because, as you know, car manufacturers like to add an Australian tax.
You can drift pretty much any non-performance Tesla if you like $300 for the S3XY buttons accessory
How is the sound system in the Mustang?
The Tesla charging app now has everything and more compared to the ford. I would have chosen the Xpeng G6 over the Mach E
Will try that next! Wasn’t available when I cancelled.
Shane Gillis was right, you guys do talk funny over there 🇦🇺
Great idea for a review Paul!. Likewise, I feel EV car reviews should include more thoughts like those in this video, about charging, app limitations, mobile key, profiles, etc.. An EV (any brand) changes the lifestyle and habits to an extent. And these aspects impact day to day use as much as ride comfort and performance.
What about availability of the charging stations if driving longer distances?
Australia uses CCS standard so you can charge also at Tesla chargers if you want.
Interesting comment you made how easy it is to go over the speed limit. I own both quiet and noisy cars. I don't look at the speedo anywhere near as much with the noisy car as the audible engine revs lets me know roughly what speed I am doing.
$450 for a Mustang Mach E, they really do lose their value. 🤣😂🤣
I'm astonished that you'd get a Tesla in the first place. Why? And now another electric car, why?
Wow! This was a highly surprising video. A Ford? Really? OK, I'm listening to you as I fully appreciate your input. With regards the lack of Tesla info screen in front of you, like the after market tilt-mount for the Tesla screen is available and in my opinion an absolute must have, there are many after market screen displays out there which can easily be added. I had one on my MY RWD. OK, I know it doesn't come with this as standard but hey, just thought I'd say. I too disliked my Tesla ride quality and I found it far too firm. Oh well, I'll follow your story of living with the Ford Mach-E. Very interesting comparison. Thank you.
0:52 yes, please do another video on novated lease for dummies like me that don't know what to look out for.
I actually bought a new car too. It was an Alfa Guilia with a nice internal combustion engine
