I'm back to making videos now! Thanks to everyone for patiently waiting while I took a break. I figured I'd return with the long-promised 10K subscriber video which I chose to do on Alex, so I hope you enjoy it! I've got a couple more videos in the works so keep an eye out on the channel!
Honestly, i hope "The Trash Five" all return sooner or later. To see Sean grow out of being the butt of the joke, to find out what the fuck is going on with Q and G, to release Twelve from his bottom tier prison, to give Remy a coherent story arc and to finally give Alex the spotlight he deserved.
Sean is a fan favourite so I feel he'd sell dlc regardless if he's good...my personal idea of him would be him playing alot like Ken did in 3 with alittle sakura thrown in. G and Q are definitely interesting charecters who would be good to see again perhaps thier connections could be explored more. And ofcourse Alex is just cool,I adore him regardless of being trash playing him
And Remy and twelve are also very interesting and fun charecters....would love seeing them again Like Remy especially since he's got a Iori like edge to him but with a K' like personality...he feels like if a kof fighter was in a street fighter game instead. The way that his headband shadowed his eyes and that cool warpaint were what sold me on the character back in the day. I still think that there's room to continue Alex's story, but in my mind he's forever tied to Gill. Since Capcom isn't incorporating the Illuminati into J.P.'s schemes that we know of, it means Alex either returns story neutered or with an entirely new goal. My personal headcanon was that one day Alex would be revealed to be an escaped Illuminati child warrior or something. Then Gill would unlock the elemental powers imbued within him for Street Fighter 4. Basically a new take on Akuma always goading Ryu into embracing Satsui no Hadou.
That would be sick if they made that his story it can tie into y gill beat Tom so badly for Alex to come find him, and the cutscene in which gill transforms Alex to look like him
Alex is a miracle in the sense they really fumbled such a perfect character. In spite of all their poor decisions (no low confirms, poor super confirms, him losing in his ending to a guy you need to beat to get it, more or less dropping him twice after hyping him up the previous game, the concept of stun gun headbutt) Alex’s core strengths as a fighting game character to his design to, to his development as a character, to how he feels to play even at his worst, to even every individual button. I’ve never played a character just for cMP. It’s not even a broken button it just feels perfect. Alex would easily be a long time poster boy ala K’ if he just was given the love he deserved.
Yeah exactly, it's an absolute testament to how good of a character Alex is that his fans are still willing to campaign for him after all the shit Capcom did to bury and neuter him as soon as NG bombed. I would have hoped they'd have paid attention to how vocal his fanbase his got during SF5 but it seems they're still deciding to sideline him in favour of the same old characters alongside the new toy that is practically Alex 2.0 but not as good. And yes seeing K' is a constant reminder at how Alex could (and should) have been a recurring face throughout the series. It's still crazy to me how Capcom and SNK are night and day in terms of how they were willing to handle changing their flagship series in big ways.
On GOD! Alex was my first draw to the Street Fighter 3 games for his awesome design and voicelines. I wanted to know what he was about, and found out that strangely people didn't like him. Why was beyond me, but his entire storyline seemed really cool. A hot-blooded young adult faces down a legacy of famous warriors new and old to get his revenge against an organization that quite literally had unfathomable power, one he was linked to in a way he didn't understand. All the while feeling like this unstoppable badass with some powerful moves and slamming his opponents into the ground. I do 100% agree that Alex could've been Capcom's K', or Tekken's Jin, if they tried to put in the effort. Capcom seems weirdly averse to trying though, as of late.
One of the most underappreciated part of Alex's appeal as a protagonist is just how simple yet badass his design is. Abel, Luke and Rashid all have good designs don't get me wrong, but none of them really have the sort of design that shows protagonism in a manner similar to how posterboy Ryu does it. If we ever get to see our golden haired boy return, I hope we get to use him in his SF3 incarnation since that was really the peak of his design IMO.
I'm sorry but I DESPISE the design they gave him in SF5 😭in the cutscene art he actually looks fine but in game he looks like a hot mess of muscles, ugly hair, and suspenders
Gotta admit, Alex being missing from 6 really did bother me a lot, he's got such a big plot thread dangling at the end of 3s that it would be a shame to see him just relegated to a side character who just kind of gives up or makes no progress on their mission, it'd kind make him a bit of a loser. I don't wanna see Alex just spin his wheels and sit around while Capcom plays with their new toys, but I also don't wanna see him just forgotten and misremembered as some failed experiment by Capcom in the 90s who only gets brought out for nostalgia and costumes (like Darkstalkers). I think there's a good chance he'll return in 6 given how popular he was in V (I think he was something like a top 5 character played online?) and I think he'd be great for the system, a special cancelable DDT and flash chop back drop would both be great DI and parry callout and having access to all 3 supers would be great fun.
NGL, I kinda wish SF6 had tackled some of SF3's plotlines. Alex was the new lead, and with the end of SF5, it looked like something major was set to happen with Gill. Of course, Capcom being Capcom, they went back to Shadaloo immediately. I like the idea of a 'New Generation' but it feels like Alex got short-changed in the transition to 6. Is there some kind of overarching plot that may connect Gill to Neo Shadaloo? I'd hope, but it's more likely SF5's buildup led to nothing but SF3. That being said, I do desperately want to know more about where Alex's story would head. What is Gill's grand plan? Who is Remy's father? What kind of strange destiny will befall Alex? All of these questions and more to be answered in... Probably never. I hope he's at least DLC or something.
SF5 Shadow Fall in Alex story he participate with Laura on CWA tournament against Mika and Zangief. And won the tournament whats really missing is his encounter with the slam masters characters like the hyper cannon team ( Biff & Gunloc) in SFV Visonary Book they got mention on character charts. His shadow fall story is not just connected to his street fighter lore but also to slam masters lore.
I think Alex could come back if JP's goals is in conflict with the Secret Society. This would give Capcom a good reason for Alex to return. And the added bonus is that Luke can have a second rival. It all depends on the writing and whoever is in charge with giving the green light.
Wish Alex had way more importance in the series, guy has a sick design, one of the best themes in the series, and actually fits the name of STREET fighter. I'm still salty about how they prioritized the world warriors in sf6 tbh.
Thank you so much for the tribute, Alex has always been my favorite ever since playing the Street Fighter 3 New Generation. We aren't many but we exist.
ALEX is also my favorite Street Fighter character. I love everything about him. His cool looks, move set, and story. Its a shame Street Fighter takes so many approaches to different storylines in which they have always done to confuse the timeline which is dumb. Hopefully they bring him back in SF6 along with Sean and possibly other characters from SF3.
Honestly I’d hope the fact there’s no street fighter 3 or alpha characters in the new game at this moment I hope they are holding out for story reasons obviously I’m sure the devs know there are pieces to the puzzle missing. I think the sf6 just wanted to have older updated versions of the world warriors since they were never in sf3 and give them a proper setup first. My theory tho
I'm always open to it happening but honestly the way they've treat the events/characters of SF3 so far leaves me with almost zero hope. The fact the only acknowledgment Gill and the Secret Society get in 6 is a throw-away line from Guile where he describes them as some old forgotten foe is all I need to know Capcom will never do that storyline justice even if they were to bring back all characters involved.
Alex along with other SF3 characters will definitely return as dlc for SF6 and future games at that, but yeah, their time in the spotlight is well and truly over. Capcom is happy to benefit from the clear love and popularity they've developed over the years, but are still spooked by how badly the original SF3 did not to fully commit to them. Makes me appreciate SNK going forward with a sequel to Garou following up where the last game ended, even though Mark of the Wolves had a very similar history as SF3.
while Q is my GOAT and imo deserves to come back in SF6, Alex just deserves it way more after what Capcom has done to him over the years. He undergoes an actual character arc in the story, he's supposed to be the world champion because he defeated Gill. And yet, he's nowhere to be seen! Why?! Make it make sense Capcom!
I like what you had to say in this video. I feel a similar way towards both Alex and Sean. I would love to see these and other characters from SF3 playable in SF6 and have their stories continue. I, for one, enjoyed the Street Fighter 3 seriese and appreciate what it tried to do upon it's release. Great video. Thanks for posting.
Been saying this since 5 came out and they dropped Luke DLC. When they said "the future of the next generation", I said damn they did Alex dirty. Honestly I hope they at least bring Sean back as the current champ since Ken is on the lamb.
This was pretty sad, but as you said at least alex has appeared recently, not like remy. We have 4 alex game appearences and idk about the comics but remy is literally in just 1 game, hes not in the comics and his fans are totally less than alex ones... It always could be worse, right? 😅
Great video man, i feel the same way about capcom putting a game with the story past 3 and none of the guys from 3 are around. Game focuses in metro city, and no guys from final fight are playable either. One of two: capcom is holding them because they know they will be popular dlc, or just sweeping them under the rug.
One of the things that bugged me the most about Street Fighter 6 was that there wasn't a single new character from SFIII being in the main roster and I was very disappointed. The fact that they're rehashing the same Shadaloo plot again even after III also left me with a sour taste i my mouth, because I really wanted to see the Illuminati storyline picked up. I get why they're doing this; they wanted to make sure Bison's ambition still corrupts the worlds even after his death, but the Secret Society played a part in his demise in SFV and they didn't even mention that! Aside from Ken mentioning Sean and Jamie following Yun and Yang's footsteps, most of the plotlines in SFIII are never mentioned; Alex's role in the story, the Illuminati, Oro's encounter with Ryu, the character of Q, Makoto running her family's dojo, Remy's father, etc. The sad thing is, it's very easy to connect SFIII with SF6; you could have Kolin infiltrating JP's NGO and replacing Kalima as his assistant to keep an eye on him and preventing him from reviving Shadaloo, Juri could manipulate Remy into joining her side against JP in exchange for his father's location, Dudley and Cammy would be close acquaintances, Alex settling his rivalry with Ryu and the two becoming friends. Hell, you could have Urien kill Gill and take over the Illuminati as its new emperor as well as have him keeping an eye on JP's activities. There is a lot more freedom that Capcom could do with its story after SFIII, so what's their excuse of not doing so? Rather than just rehashing Street Fighter II all over again. Sorry for the long rant, I was just disappointed on how Capcom decided to follow on Street Fighter III. I mean, you'd think by following up SFIII, that would mean following up on its many unresolved plot threads, but sadly that didn't happen. Alas, we still have hope for SF6 Year 2 DLC to make up for it. I have enjoyed using Alex in Third Strike and more recently SFV, and I have to say, he's a better protagonist than Ryu. Don't get me wrong, Ryu is iconic, but I related to Alex's story more than Ryu's, because he was out for revenge for Tom's attack and by achieving revenge, he learns to grow as a character. Hell, if he's going to be in SF6, have at least a win quote against showing him trying to help Ken overcome his anger, as he knows what it's like to be consumed by vengeance. His moveset is fun to play and deserves a second chance in the series, even if he's not the protagonist, alongside other characters like Sean, C. Viper and Dudley.
We finally have the SF story progressing after almost 2 decades and what do we get? World Warriors again. It's kind of insane how this game is both set after 3 and set in Metro City and yet there is no SF3 or Final Fight characters involved at all. The SF3 cast were DOING THINGS and they all just dropped off the face of the earth apparently. Where the hell are Poison and Hugo? A lot of the game is fighting Mad Gear but they don't show up at all. I don't understand why they set this game in Metro City, it invites so many questions that they just don't seem to want to answer.
@@DemonBlanka I know, right? That annoyed me so much. I mean, you could replace Blanka and Dhalsim with pretty much anyone from SF3, SFA or Final Fight. Another thing that disappointed me was the fact they didn't pick up the Illuminati storyline. Like, what happened to Gill or where are their next plans? Instead of addressing these questions, they instead went redid the Shadaloo storyline. I would have liked to see Urien as the secondary antagonist instead of FANG. As for Poison and Hugo, let's just say they're busy with their wrestling association, the Hugo Wrestling Army, which could justify their absence, though I would preferred the game to tell us so.
@@DemonBlanka Them making the setting of World Tour Metro City and then proceeding to do fuck all with that in regards to the Final Fight characters outside of having Carlos show up pissed me off before release and still does now lol. Though even with Carlos, they just had him dick around and honestly feel cheapened by him basically just being an npc with a create a character base that has 1 or 2 unique moves.
@@aboodash9008 yeah, they finally were free of not being an "in between-quel" but then chose to not use that freedom really at all storywise. The returning roster being pretty much only sf2 outside dlc is very annoying (i seriously believe no one would give af about Blanka or Honda if they debuted in any other game, like at least give them a successor like they did with T.Hawk, Lily is great and makes me retroactively more interested in him), but they just... Don't do anything with tree STORY opportunity 5 finally let them have for the first time in decades. Just... Return to Shadaloo nonsense. Hopefully future stuff includes Gill and co more but it sounds like thats ancient history during when 6 is which... Is horrible
You ain't gotta defend one of the coolest newcomers to SF ever made bro. He should have been right up there in the pantheon of main characters. I like him a lot more than Luke, but Luke is going for a whole different generation and vibe which I think he captures pretty well.
Thank you for this video.. Alex is my main since sf3ng and the reason why I don't really play sf6 that much at all. It's just not the same without Alex. It's the reason I did not like sf4 also. I play Tekken 8 now.. but I have played tekken since the first one just like street fighter.
beautiful video bro I really love this character a lot it's a shame that capcom left alex as the protagonist and the story in general that they were trying to tell looked very good it really hurts me that capcom didn't take advantage of alex and his world in general that they wanted to show but it's in Some of it is understandable considering the failure of Street Fighter 3, but it still seems sadly unfair to me. -May the love for Alex never die!!!!
You sum up pretty well why narratively, 6 does pretty much nothing for me, at least at time of writing. After 5 made so many hints and allusions to finally approaching where 3 left off, just to finally arrive tbat point with 6 and they... Just don't even allude to any of it? Just throw us a whole new story line more connected to the Shadaloo stuff we already thought we were free from (aside from Ed's hanging thread)? And as you said, they've replaced the cast of 3 with a NEW New Generation. Which, fair enough, it's been almost 30 years but the fact NONE of them have anything to do with 3 aside from Jamie being a Yun and Yang fanboy? And what is there for them isnt anything super compelling, outside of the seeds they're planting for Lily's story to take quite an interesting, but dark turn. Probably because even they got shafted by having to just be NPCs for the player's create a character to dick around with in the game's main single player mode, leaving it just to the arcade mode to do the heavy lifting on the characters' actual stories. It really was only good for references and lil cameos in the end huh? I mean they were neat but man...
Here's a crazy thought Bring back Alex, as the Illuminati/Hidden Society destroyer Where was he all this time? Hunting down Gill and the others to extinction, go full Doom Slayer with it (leave Urien as the last remaining one for possible dlc later) He can even have a sort of friendship with Ed, being constantly on the hunt by a dark group (The remnants of Shadoloo and the Illuminati respectively), but where Ed found kinship with other people, Alex remained alone
Alex is an absolutely real dope character. Always has been to me at least. His design both artistically and mechanically with his hybrid type fighting style. Such a shame he took a backseat to Luke -_- He also has my favorite stage track in 2nd Impact (and perhaps all of SF3 in general).
I'm probably the only person that thinks this, but the SFIV retcon should NOT have happened. I get what Capcom was trying to do. Around that time it had been years since Street Fighter had a new entry and they wanted to reintroduce the series in a way that would be appealing to newcomers, but it shouldn't have come at the cost of a compelling arc for an interesting character.
Honestly the worst thing Capcom did with SF4 was make Bison canon. Everything else about it was completely understandable and I don't blame them for playing it incredibly safe, but choosing to bring Bison back after 2 was intended to be his actual death not only ruined 4, not only ruined 5 by making it kill Bison AGAIN, but retroactively ruined 3 by making the whole gap between it and 2 so drawn out. If they had just made him non-canon like Evil Ryu and Oni it would've been fine and 5 could have probably been the first game set after 3,
@@scotiaviii Honestly, I wouldn't have minded Shadoloo coming back, but instead of Bison returning, Seth could've taken over as the new leader and be a thorn in the side of the World Warriors and the Illuminati. That way he could've been a little bit more well liked by fans instead of being seen as an afterthought.
it's something i've always had a problem with SF's story. Ryu and Ken should be nowhere near the main Bison story outside of sf2, that spot is deserved by Chun, Guile, Cammy, and Juri. SF is the only fighting game that has successfully built up the next generation since the 90's and done nothing with them. Sakura and Sean should've been the new main shoto duo 2 games ago. the 3rd strike kids should be adults now along with the middle ground characters like Juri, Alex, Laura etc. and THEN we have the next generation after that starting with Li Fen and Mel.
One things that bothers me about Luke is Capcom used him to be the new, young, American character to be the protagonist to usher in the new generation of fighters... which is exactly what Alex was to begin with. Just use Alex!
No alex in sf6 has prevented me from playing the game after its first few weeks. I just don’t jive with any of the new characters nor the old guard minus Ken.
Which is why I only play SF3 since capcom fails to do proper story and updated to their IP's just like Strider, Megaman, etc. The marketing decide the story and not the writers it seems which is why capcom fails which allow its competitors to outsell more on fighting games. Capcom just does not get it and I will not support them. What most dont say is that Alex's friend Tom seems to be based on the actor "Jean Reno" which capcom used his image in another game "Onimusha 3"
No offense but if you want good gameplay then this isn't the channel for you. It's never been and never will be the focus of what this channel is and does.
I'll be honest, when it comes to Alex, while I do admit that he's a fun and interesting character, I never view him to be the next Ryu of a new generation, mainly do to not having a lot of connection with Gill, I mean, the reason why he confronted him was because he beat up his mentor, that's it Heck, I even think that Ibuki is the real main character of SF3, since her clan had their files stolen by Gill and did meant a threat, along with Ibuki having more of a character for it then Alex Again, Alex is not bad, but I do not he is main character material
Sadly, most SF fans hate the cast of SF3. So, I understand why capcom would rather act like it doesn't exist. SF has been doing very well by avoiding SF3 for the most part in that last 3 installments of SF.
sounds like you been hiding under a rock for 25 years also it's not like some sf3 characters are in sf4 and 5 oh wait they do also if you say most street fighter fans you mean the ones that stuck to street fighter 2 and hate the new characters within the sf3 series
@@rayvonlawrence8554 The SF3 characters that appeared in 4 and 5 were not in the base roster of either of those games, and both of those games rosters were mostly SF2. SF6 is pretty much another updated SF2 just like 4 and 5 were. It's pretty much the same characters with better graphics and slightly different game play. If Capcom were smart, the next season of dlc for SF6 should include Bison, Sagat, Balrog, and Vega.
I cant see Alex as a protagonist, at all... I understand the storyline may state it, but he looks like a comercial attenpt to please US consumers... I cant see the progression... or how can he develop and lead the series... Besides, the new generations are whack characters... Sean, Ibuki, Elena, Sakura? Name a solid young character who will make the new generation of SF look interesting...

Cuz SF4 & 5 is ALL About Memberberries & the Shadaloo Saga.
This is THE character that got me into fighting games. My main until the bitter end
while Q is my GOAT and imo deserves to come back in SF6, Alex just deserves it way more after what Capcom has done to him over the years. He undergoes an actual character arc in the story, he's supposed to be the world champion because he defeated Gill. And yet, he's nowhere to be seen! Why?! Make it make sense Capcom!
Proudly an alex main here, loved this vid
I really want to see Alex in SF6! Its the first game canonically after SF3 😭
Alex would fit so well in 6, his move set in III, and 5 would fit perfectly in the game as a grappler already.
I’ve been waiting for this!
Love this ❤. They really did the sf3 roster dirty with SF6 release. Alex is a favorite of mine too and it be good to see him given more spotlight.
Fun fact: in 3rd Strike, Alex can b+HP Q out of his dash punch, including SA1
The man, the myth, the LEGEND! I love Alex, and he's my main in Third Strike even if i lose most of the time against those Jun and Chun Li players...
This was pretty sad, but as you said at least alex has appeared recently, not like remy.
We have 4 alex game appearences and idk about the comics but remy is literally in just 1 game, hes not in the comics and his fans are totally less than alex ones... It always could be worse, right? 😅
Glad to see you make another one of these
Still hoping for Alex, Dudley, and makoto in 6 down the line
Great video man, i feel the same way about capcom putting a game with the story past 3 and none of the guys from 3 are around. Game focuses in metro city, and no guys from final fight are playable either. One of two: capcom is holding them because they know they will be popular dlc, or just sweeping them under the rug.
YOU CAN'T ESCAPE!!!
Alex is cool
Is horrible
Alex in TvC is a blast actually. I think he's pretty good in that game too, does crazy damage. He would be great in SF6.
Hopefully he returns in a future DLC for six. I still think it's cool he was in TvsC as the SFIII rep but that was a while ago.
You ain't gotta defend one of the coolest newcomers to SF ever made bro. He should have been right up there in the pantheon of main characters. I like him a lot more than Luke, but Luke is going for a whole different generation and vibe which I think he captures pretty well.
A few days ago I became a subscriber to the channel and it just came back now. That's good luck, will you also make a Kof video of this series??
Yeah there's definitely a few KOF characters I could do videos on!
@@scotiaviii Epic ,Good Luck Pana.
Here's a crazy thought
Bring back Alex, as the Illuminati/Hidden Society destroyer
Where was he all this time? Hunting down Gill and the others to extinction, go full Doom Slayer with it (leave Urien as the last remaining one for possible dlc later)
He can even have a sort of friendship with Ed, being constantly on the hunt by a dark group (The remnants of Shadoloo and the Illuminati respectively), but where Ed found kinship with other people, Alex remained alone
Alex is pretty cool my go to character whenever i play a street fighter 3 game i hope to see him in 6 as dlc or something
I would good to have Alex to SF6
You’re back 😃
I've been playing fighting games since sf2 in the arcades and Alex is my favorite too 😁
Alex is an absolutely real dope character. Always has been to me at least. His design both artistically and mechanically with his hybrid type fighting style. Such a shame he took a backseat to Luke -_-
He also has my favorite stage track in 2nd Impact (and perhaps all of SF3 in general).
Good video.
Alex was my first fighting game "main"
If hes in a game, i will always pick him. Simple as
If Alex returns in 6, He should be Bald, & wear his Badana to cover that Bald Spot.
Hell yeah all my homies hate competitive viability
I look like a cubby version of his SFV art.
Alex is popular? Man, he came a long way from being 主人公(笑) to this.
Alex is popular? 👀 and well-known?!
Alex enjoyers, stay strong 💪
i have hope SF3 alumni will all return as DLC, eventually...😅
One things that bothers me about Luke is Capcom used him to be the new, young, American character to be the protagonist to usher in the new generation of fighters... which is exactly what Alex was to begin with. Just use Alex!
Believe it or not New York City in street fighter lore is right next metro city hahahahaha
honestly i think they’re going to bring back a lot of the sf3 cast but they’re waiting for dlc to make more money smh
I think he just didn't clock for a lot of people. Personally he just really wasn't that interesting as a protagonist.
In defens of R. Mika
How are you gonna justify Alex’s English win quote against Elena in new generation
Please tell me you can actually play charge characters?
The gameplay was pretty basic.
No offense but if you want good gameplay then this isn't the channel for you. It's never been and never will be the focus of what this channel is and does.
Alex was so ugly in sfv while he looked so cool i. Sf3
I'll be honest, when it comes to Alex, while I do admit that he's a fun and interesting character, I never view him to be the next Ryu of a new generation, mainly do to not having a lot of connection with Gill, I mean, the reason why he confronted him was because he beat up his mentor, that's it
Heck, I even think that Ibuki is the real main character of SF3, since her clan had their files stolen by Gill and did meant a threat, along with Ibuki having more of a character for it then Alex
Again, Alex is not bad, but I do not he is main character material
