I was on a trip to Rome for 4 days.
These were the only sounds you could hear 24h.Its Ingraved in my brain forever.

Italy is a cesspool of crime and accidents, what did you expect, the Garden of Eden? Why do you think they have the armed Carabinieri with automatic rifles as well as regular Polizia? To take down the criminals and mafia terrorising the cities, of course. Not to mention the terrorist attacks.
I was in Milan, about a hundred meters from us there was a police station, every 10 minutes we heard a car leaving with siren!! I understand you😁
I have been travelling around Europe, and in Italy, every place we've been to had these ambulances. Even in venice where you're not allowed cars, the boats make that sound. XD
Ziggy Craft Italian sirens are already selected for the type of emergency vehicles; I live in Italy and I've learned all the sirens ahaha.
For example, if you hear a siren similar to an air horn of a Truck, it's a vehicle of the "Vigili del Fuoco" (Fire fighters), a rapid siren is of the EMS vehicles, and a slow siren is of the Italian law enforcements vehicles, like "Carabinieri" (Military Police) "Polizia" (police) "Guardia di Finanza" (Financial Guard) ecc...
to those commenting on the "poor" lightning.
all italian emergency vehicles issued in the 2000s have strobe lights which are hardly ever captured on camera since they are too fast for the camera to record it. I can assure you that you can actually see them a lot

No you can’t, I stayed in Rome for two months. These lights are nearly invisible.

I can confirm, as an Italian myself. If you see an emergency veichle at night, the lights are really visible!
police switched to leds since around 2007, some ambulances are still made new with strobes, and generally still plenty of strobe equipped vehicles (old and new) are still in service

From what I've heard is that that car is the oldest emergency vehicle still in service in Rome. (Dates from the late 1980's !)

Nice vid! A little dated though. I just came back from Rome, and the Esercito uses armoured vehicles now, not vans and coaches.
000 Responses They use both... buses and vans are just for the transport of the soldiers and the military bands, the other ones you saw (mainly Land Rover Defender AR90, Iveco VTLM Lince and Iveco VM 90 T) are all used on the mission "Strade sicure" and are there to show the force to the terrorists that are fought by Carabinieri too (that are military police).

(i know that the yelp is illegal on police vehicles in italy, but still. It would be cool if they had yelp and bullhorn too because of how effective it is)

A lot of european countries don't use wail and yelp. I think it's because they're too loud

This is not an ambulance. It must be a medical car (we have different vehicles for MDs in emercency service), but in this case it should have "automedica" written on its nose, or a van for emergency equipment.

+xxFUnCK That's not an emergency number is the number of the private ambulances company that own that vehicle!
+Franc!s _ Ok. Why would you dial that number then? I mean why is it displayed on the vehicle?
+xxFUnCK The number is a toll-free telephone number and is the number of the ambulances service in Rome. If you need an ambulance (not for an emergency) you call it for your own without calling the emergency number. Otherwise is the emergency number call-centre who calls it when they need an ambulance.
