      @@thenamen935 Nah i disagree, like the other reply said, Box truck diagonal to bus. Way too narrow of a space for fire truck to get through swiftly. Bus driver moving over to COMPLETELY clear the left lane was the wiser choice as the fire truck didn't need to slow down any more after them.

    As a German, this honestly makes me mad. Everyone is praising how well everyone is yielding, when what they do is absolute chaos and the fire fighters have to drive in a zigzag around cars all the time and constantly have to switch lanes because the emergency lane formed is not always in the same place. There's a simple rule to mitigate this: If you're in the leftmost lane, move to the left, in all other lanes, move to the right. That way an emergency lane forms in the same place everywhere, and it's much easier to drive through. All countries in the world, adopt the Rettungsgasse!

      Try Japanese sirens. I saw an ambulance when visiting Japan. It had 3 different sirens and used all of them simultaneously at times. But it was obvious that the medics could control how many sirens they want to activate. Who knows, maybe I haven't even heard them all...? They also used a loudspeaker with recordings. So the ambulance was like a jukebox or DJ mixing tapes, or something 😂

I thought that was typical for Japan for trying to be as little of a burden to other people as possible, even in case of an emergency.

    As an American, I am completely confused and baffled by what is happening in this video: It looks like other drivers are actually moving their vehicles to get out of the way! No last-second attempts to cut off the firetruck! People even stopped at the intersection, even though they had the traffic light! Then the firefighter got out of the truck and walked- nobody tried to hit him, told him to get out of the f***ing road- not even a signle obscene gesture! It's almost as if these drivers care enough about their community to actually help the firefighters get where they need to go.... even though it's not convenient for them! I am utterly astonished!

And to the intelligent drivers, it's common in Poland (and I'm sure it's common in Europe in general) to make a corridor for the ambulance, firefighters and police when there's a heavy traffic caused by a car crash on a highway. It's enough if a single concious driver initialize it and the hundreds of other drivers follow.

      @Ganiscol 3 роки тому

      It is, but in recent years I've seen more and more reports of reckless drivers using these corridors to keep moving in front or behind emergency services - how dumb is that when there is likely to be a complete standstill ahead due to an accident? And if enough do it and clog the corridor, emergency services cant get to the accident and will actually have to get there on foot! Luckily, the police is cracking down hard on these turds - they cant get away from there at that point... I believe losing the drivers license on the spot for a year or so would be appropriate.

    In Ontario, Canada it's the law. You must pull over and can get fined. We even need to make sure (when possible) to move over one lane of an emergency vehicle or towtruck is pulled over on the shoulder to avoid accidentally hitting them. People are still getting use to it but it's a great idea.

      He is checking the sides, there is an assortment of mirrors that help him with it but he is probably checking them through his peripheral vision instead of actively turning his head.
      The mirrors will also include ones for checking the dead zones on the sides and maybe those in front (I think it's a Scania truck and they can be outfitted with dead-zone mirrors above the windshield below the greenish-sunshield kind of thing so they can see what's directly in front of them below the windshield) ;).

      The driving-training is probably close to the same as in The Netherlands, and it's very thorough with regular re-training. And it's also about experience. I had my certificate for driving a forklift earlier than my regular license. At some point you know exactly how wide the forklift is and you don't hesitate anymore when you just have 5 centimeter (that's about 2 inch) to spare on both sides of the vehicle.
      This driver just knows the size of his vehicle very well. And if you looked carefully, you can clearly see he IS checking his mirrors.

      Norway is full of hills and mountains, and the big cities are also surrounded by them. It is not easy to build large, wide roads everywhere. There is also a political reluctance to make it easy to drive in order to push people onto buses and trains, which creates situations like this. Norwegian emergency crews are certainly used to handling situations like this.
