Picked one of these up the other day. Surprisingly easy to use once you figure out some of the basics (like this). Cryptic AF on first impression but this video enabled me to assign MIDI notes to the 9 or so kit pieces I sampled in. I can't think of many Brutal Death Metal bands using tech this old, but I'd be thrilled to see it catch on. Cheers
you probably dont care but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times you can stream all the latest movies and series on instaflixxer. Have been watching with my girlfriend lately xD
Thanks for the info! I'm getting ready to buy one of these. I've been curious about them since the 90's when they were coming out, but just never got around to picking one up. Life got in the way, and I had to take some time off from working on music, but over the past 2 years I've been revamping my home studio. Been setting up a hybrid system, (analog/digital HD/PC) and adding some of the stuff I missed out on over the years. This will be my first sampler, and I'm mainly looking to capture different analog synth and drum patches that I can't save in a user bank, etc. I think I understand how these things work, but I just wanna make sure I'm not misunderstanding a few things... With the S2000 you can record your sample, trim your start and stop points, then create a loop that will play continuously while you're holding the key down, correct? The other thing is, I'll be able to span my midi keyboard so the sample will be assigned to each key, so I can play the sample like a regular synth patch? I'm think that's what you were referring to at the 2:45 mark on this video, but I just wanna be sure. Lastly, I know there's all sorts of upgrades you can do with these samplers. Do you know what the maximum sample length is, and are there upgrades that will increase this feature, or are the upgrades only for storage space, and processing speed? Hopefully I'm not coming across as too ignorant, and asking a bunch of stupid questions. This is a whole new ballgame for me, and with a limited budget, I don't wanna buy something that's not going to serve the purpose I'm looking for me. If anyone in the comment section has any information, I'm always willing to learn something new. Thanks for sharing your progress!
Much (but not all) software for the samplers is obsolete and will only run on old O/S's. Thankfully, you can search up all the user manuals, and there are some forums still out there, all accessible to searches. Good luck!
great sampler! Just bought one yesterday, but cannot find the os on the internet... damn. Someone of you guys can help a friend by giving a working download link for the akai s2000 operating system? Thank you in advance!

Theres an os eprom upgrade. That and flashrom would be the fastest options.

😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
what was the appeal of s2000? seems like alot of work to get it going.
Does this work the same way with the MPC500?
Can you use these old samplers with an akai mpc 5000?
Yes. What you trying to do with them though? Are you speaking about midi connection, or trying to get that old school sound?
@@anthonyb.2983 Through Midi connections

Can you do this with most midi drum controllers? Or does it have to be something like the emu1200
both OK
Can you make more videos on this combination.
Dude that's for 1 sample. I have B3 multisamples in stereo. That's about 20 samples.
