Nice simple boom bap !! I've got identical setup , I've got the emax rack, had to refurbish it when I first got it, I changed some capacitors and found the floppy drive was dragging the power supply voltage down, replaced it and all is well. The emax sound is unique not quite as the 12 and 1200 deep but definitely thick sounding. Let me know if I can help answer any tech questions on that emax rack.
@@dfacedxa ahhh.. yea I would first start with the capacitors as they need to be replaced anyway. Capacitors can cause of issues down the line of a circuit
How do you save your sounds on the SP 12 ? do you have the 1514 disk drive ? or back up to cassette?? you are right the sp 12 has 27k sample rate. makes a difference I can hear.
its dark grey and blue, the color of the video or the screen your looking at makes it look like that, but you can see the 1200 is black and the 12 is lighter in contrast
Nice beat! What's up with your Emax Rack exactly? If you have to send it to somebody in the US to get it repaired please don't give it to Armen's in NYC, please call Forat in L.A. to have it fixed. Honestly if i had to choose one to fix MY gear i would choose Forat Electronics. But on the other side, i fix everything on my own down in Germany/Europe. Go to Forat and good luck!
thanks! yeah haha i don't mess w Armen. Forat is the man but i do not like the idea of shipping my emax across the country. but as far as the problem the emax loads up and operates fine, but the sound is all distorted. i dont really know where to start with fixing it
Dface Dxa try opening the unit up and reconnect all cable connections. Pull them out, put them back in. Maybe you got leaking capacitors. You vould inspect the power supply and just take a look on the mainboard if something looks broken or burnt.
@@WASKMUSIC i tried reconnecting cable and reseating any chips it didn't help. when i opened it last i didn't know to look for bulging caps but that will be my next step. thanks for your input.
Dface Dxa just take a look and try to find spots that look burnt, leaked caps or similar. You may find something. Otherwise i would start with recapping your outputs. Is every output the same? Or does it work on main out or vice versa? Does playback work normally when you load an old floppy (without sampling for now)?
@@WASKMUSIC all of the outputs sound the same and the distortion is present with samples loaded from disk as well as when i sample new sounds. im gonna hit you on IG. thank you!

I save to a commodore 1541 but i have used the cassette out a number of times and recommend it to people.
First time seeing a black SP-12

I prefer the 12 in every way, the limitations, the looks everything I'd rather own a 12 Turbo.
