The Red Cross is derivative from the battle standard the Knights of St John because the Red Cross itself came out of them. It has exactly zero to do with the flag of Switzerland.
Switzerland, by guessing and knew the Philippines since my wife is from the Philippines, and I spent 41/2 months there in 2020 working with her 6 year old granddaughter including listening to her singing their national anthem.
12:20 Loved your identification of the "muzak" version of that anthem! Reminds me of a one-liner from Woody Allen: "I just heard the most terrible news; the guy who invented muzak is working on another project".
I live in Germany and the only thing between me and Switzerland is the High Rhine, so it wasn't hard to get this one anthem. But that really was the only one, not even recognized the austrian one ... shame.
The Romanian anthem does sound... well, not exactly militaristic, but close enough. It was a revolutionary song, written during the 1848 Revolutions, which sprung up everywhere in Europe that year, including in the two Romanian-speaking principalities and the province of Transylvania which was mostly Romanian-speaking but part of Hungary at the time It's actually ironic that, in 1990, this anthem actually replaced the one that was used during the reign of our last dictator. That was a guy who actually saw North Korea as somewhat of a role model in how to build his own cult of personality.
The Hungarian one shown/played is only the intro-outro of the anthem. The actual one is where the singing starts: ua-cam.com/video/_N3gfzk-5bw/v-deo.html
I love the Chilean anthem not only because I'm from there but mostly because of how different it is, it's more vibrant and energetic, compared to european anthems which are more traditional

Hi SoGal, In defence of both yours and we the viewers attempts to guess those national anthems, It's noteworthy to remember how many of these anthems must be relatively new. For example, thinking of the new states formed in Eastern Europe after the dissolution of the USSR etc. Good guess about he percussion background for an African country. Another good video Guapa👍😘🌹. interesting fact: the national anthem of Uruguay was written in 1833 and is one of the longest national anthems, approximately 6 minutes singing.🥵🇺🇾😁

15:56 The International Red Cross was founded by 5 swiss citizens. 2 physicians (Appia, Maunoir), a lawyer (Moyneir), a businessman (Dunant) and the former general of the swiss army Guillaume Henri Dufour. 14:33 This flag is wrong, the actual swiss flag is square, not a rectangle. It's supposedly derived from the war flag of the Holy Roman Empire.
Got 2.. Egypt out of luck and Austria. The Austrian anthem sounds very similar to the German one actually, so very easy to identify. Concerning the Swiss flag: the International Comittee of the Red Cross is based in Geneva and basically the founders took the Swiss flag and inverted the colors. So yeah easy to mistake it for a Red Cross flag
Brazil, France, Canada & Russia are, to me, all easier than Germany. And Portugal ofc, since I live here. Only got 1 right today which was Greece out of pure chance. These were much harder than part 1's for sure
Greece and Cyprus have the same national anthems with both music and lyrics. South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia have roughly the same song for their national anthems, with the mention that South Africa has united another song with this one in their national anthem. Finland and Estonia have the same music with different lyrics.
Got 2 - 2nd one only because anything European-sounding I didn't recognise, I said "Chile!" I also got Austria, because...well, the opening bars reminded me of, shall we say, a certain (banned) Germanic song of the 1930's...sorry, Austria...
With the Flag of Switzerland you are right. The Red Cross was chosen as inverted Swiss Flag. Switzerland got its Flag in 1415, when Emperor Sigismund from the Luxemburg dynasty gave the war flag (simplified) of the Holy Roman Empire to them, because they fought for him against Duke Friedrich IV. of Austria (House Habsburg). They never gave it back. So never give away a good flag.
What I like about you is that you are so honest and authentic. The video of the hymns could have been viewed beforehand (and be able to pretend great knowledge). But you don't do that. I take off my imaginary hat.🎩
In the comment's you got in part one of Guss the National Anthems part 1 - The comment from porqler0 is wrong when he said the Spain is the only National Anthem with out lyrics, on youtube there is a video of the Spain National Anthem with Lyrics. In part 2 Finland and Estonia have the same music but different words.
I suppose the main reason why our national anthem in Spain has no words (lyrics) is that we'd never agree on them. You can read or watch explanations that will tell you that it had words during Franco's regime (1939-75), but even those were rarely sung and I'm pretty sure they were never made strictly official. The anthem dates back to the early to mid 1700's, so it's about as old as God Save the King/Queen. It was considered a "march" (Royal March) for a long time, and marches don't really have words. And when it's played at sports events or the like... yes, we do indeed "hum" our national anthem or sing along like "nah nah nah nahhh..."!
disappointed that I didn't recognize Austria when many of my favorite racing drivers raced and won for Red Bull Racing. German and Austrian anthems were default anthems when Vettel dominated. Dutch and Austrian is the current default cause of Max Verstappen. Australian and Austrian anthems were a refreshing reprieve for a decade when Ricciardo and Webber won.
Billy Connolly, if you heard of the Big Yun, views on national anthems are so funny 🤣 Though unfortunately he appears restricted on youtube - tarra tarra dee dum dee dum we are bankrupt and we don't care 😂
I got 13. As an Austrian, the own anthemn was easy. Finland an Estonia have the same melody as with UK and Liechtenstein as well as Cyprus and Greece. Switzerland's flag is the only flag you can turn in any direction. Btw. the red cross was established in Switzerland.

I've come back to make another comment. Did anyone else think Switzerland's anthem sounded like Happy Birthday? It threw me, but at least I'll recognise it next time!
The Spanish Anthem has lyrics its the Marcha Real so Royal March basically it has lyrics for the kings but also lyrics The Fascist Franco used so it has no official lyrics anymore but many people still sing the old lyrics
you can't see it here but the Swiss flag is also unusual for being a square, not a rectangle like most flags. Not quite as unusual as the flag of Nepal which is the shape of two horizontal triangles
Hmmm got 4 right more by good luck than knowledge! I really think that as long as we respect other countries we do not actually need to know other anthems. Still enjoyed both videos and shocked how little I know
In East Germany the national anthem made by the USSR would be played without lyrics from 1972-1989. Spain have had no lyrics since 1975. San Marino never had lyrics in their anthem, as a strange case, but the entire country is strange. Bosnia & Hercegovina has no lyrics after they became independent in 1995. Kosovo has no lyrics, since it declared independence in 2008. That is all the all the no lyrics national anthems in history. Of course the German is a strange case too, since it is ONLY the 3rd verse, the 1st and 2nd verse is declared not related to the anthem at all, and you can use them for parodies etc.
Sports fans have a clear advantage here. You hear the hymns more often at sporting events. But many countries are only second or third class in sport (at least in "popular sports"). Part 1 was a lot easier (13 correct)⬆️. This part was terrible⬇️.
Yep, as a Football and F1 fan I did a lot better in the first than this one. I Only got 1 of them this time (Finland, straight away too). I was annoyed not to get Austria though - I knew I recognised it but was guessing between Austria, Estonia and the Netherlands.
My impression of Switzerland is that everyone there is hyper rich. There is something special with that place and that people. I would love to travel to there one day.
Only six this time: Norway, New Zealand, Malaysia (because I recognised this as the tune of a students’ song from the Dutch East Indies in a completely denatured instrumentation, and Indonesia had already been), Finland (again, a performance so bland that it was hardly recognizable), Switzerland, and Slovakia (hint of Dvořak?). I feel I should have recognised Uruguay, the most Italianate of the Latin American anthems.
the swiss flag reminds of an ambulance logo but reversed I think morocco is my favorite national anthem so far because it's a little bit of dramatism also I got Norway,Philippines,Egypt,Kenya,Malaysia,Romania,Nigeria and Morocco
Actually the most famous songs of places (to outsiders or alternatively those within) Is probably much more interesting and relevant to most people than anthems.
About Czechoslovakia: I think many people in western Europe are unaware of the split as well, at least older people, who are not "updated". They separated peacefully on the 1st of January 1993.
No dude, 100% no. The Spanish antgem has no lyrics. Historically, it had both during the failed Second Republic and during the dictatorship, both differents btw. In the last couple years, there has been some attempts to make some lyrics by some... characters... but we prefer it without them.
@@WKogut You are Kosovan? Sorry, I had to google your flag and I would never have got it (despite there being a map of the country on it). My geography is also not great with the balkan countries (or the former Soviet countries).
Estonia and Finland have Same Anthem Music. So If You Wanted to guess Estonia (you didn’t) then if that was Finland, you still got it right if that was Estonia or Finland.

Love your vids from Morocco ❤️🇲🇦
Not being biased but the best national anthem has got to be for Wales, "Mae hen wlad fy nhadau" which also has the best flag. Best male voice choir.
As a Scot you really do have a great anthem Steffan, ours is pretty good also .
Guessed New Zealand & Chile correctly and knew the Greek one after hearing it a few times when I went and watched the 2004 Athens Olympics.
I did pretty well with the part 1, but got none of these...
the swiss flag reminds of an ambulance logo but reversed I think morocco is my favorite national anthem so far because it's a little bit of dramatism also I got Norway,Philippines,Egypt,Kenya,Malaysia,Romania,Nigeria and Morocco
I got Uruguay right. By luck probably. It did sound like the Brazilan imperial anthem, very ironic considering their history.
I thought the austrian anthem would be "Edelweiss", but according to what I have now checked, TSOM failed it's viewers on that front and many others!
Actually
the most famous songs of places (to outsiders or alternatively those within)
Is probably much more interesting and relevant to most people than anthems.
Switzerland introduced the Red Cross for peace as they did not fight in the 1& 2 World War
They are either church chorales or marches…so yes, difficult
Well... at least Finland got mentioned. That's more than we can ask for.
About Czechoslovakia: I think many people in western Europe are unaware of the split as well, at least older people, who are not "updated". They separated peacefully on the 1st of January 1993.
Spanish anthem does have lyrics, but every region has their own and the official just leaves only melody iirc
No dude, 100% no. The Spanish antgem has no lyrics. Historically, it had both during the failed Second Republic and during the dictatorship, both differents btw. In the last couple years, there has been some attempts to make some lyrics by some... characters... but we prefer it without them.
Not a clue. Probably would do better identifying the flags but still wouldn't get most of the 'newer' countries.
Well, getting Kosovo's flag right would be easier BECAUSE they're the youngest country in Europe
@@WKogut You are Kosovan? Sorry, I had to google your flag and I would never have got it (despite there being a map of the country on it).
My geography is also not great with the balkan countries (or the former Soviet countries).
@@iainmalcolm9583 No, I'm from Poland Alcoholand
@@WKogut My apologies.
The Red Cross was founded by Switzerland by Henry Dunant in 1863
I only got one right, Greece bc its my country
Bruh my country wasn't even in any of these two videos.
I think they should give us a multiple choice, of, maybe four. Would be more entertaining.
South America is full of European descendents, which is why it shares similar aesthetics.
Romania's sounds like you're approaching Dracula's Castle in Transylvania
Estonia and Finland have Same Anthem Music. So If You Wanted to guess Estonia (you didn’t) then if that was Finland, you still got it right if that was Estonia or Finland.
Just how Greece and Cyprus have the same anthems
