BEST TIP I'VE EVER GOTTEN on changing brake hoses or calipers that's so simple it blew my mind: If you slightly depress the brake pedal using a prybar against the seat, it will keep the fluid from draining by blocking the ports in the master cylinder. Just like putting your finger over the top of a straw and picking it up out of your drink - the fluid is suspended. Just remember your brake lights will stay on, so depending on what you're doing you may want to pull the fuse/disconnect the battery.

Got a car for 250 bucks sold it for 1500 and got the axles for 1300. So I came up on that deal so no out of pocket 👌
The Dana 60 would be the way I steer. Lots of beef and peace of mind. A little sketchy with the jack 😂Awesome video 👍

@@Bleepincolt I had an 88 S10 Blazer on Wagoneer axles, then 1/2 ton axles and then 1 tons. It was a fun rig.

Build the 44 it’s fine and easier for most people to find it should hold up, plus everyone has seen a 60 built before. Nice in depth tips on this video I think people will like, less unsprung weight, just some rcvs in it

Love IRO! Have their 7 in long arm on my ZJ. I've modified it over the years and am actually only using their brackets now cause I moved up to Tons and need a bit more beef. But I agree. They def update their stuff and make it batter over time. Good video Colt. Thanks!
Love IRO, made the mistake of getting RC 4in short arm. Now I just got IRO short arm kit and the quality is far superior to RC. I built my WJ for overlanding so no longarms yet maybe when it becomes a secondary rig, but for now the short arm IRO is awesome and their customer service rocks. Also thank you guys for your vids I watch all the new ones and all the old ones.
actually long arms would be better for you as an overlander, the ride quality is far superior to any short arm lift on a WJ,TJ,ZJ, or XJ especially on normal roads, highways, and light off roading
Glad to IRO getting some love. I have been slowly but surely piecing together the bits to do a rock link kit on my 92 as money allows.
For the under coating, I used a propane/map-gas torch and gasket scraper. Heat it up a little bit then peel it off. Takes the most off fairly easy. The. I go back with a wire wheel.

I've got the iro 3 link front on my xj and love it. I've got the 4link rear and a built cry 8.25 waiting for install. Ive seen the same kit swapped over to tons with a 6.0ls and a 4l80 on 42s do some damage on the trail and walk away completely normal. There kits are amazing. If your ever going to buy something suspension related for your xj/mj or just jeepin general give them a call. These guys wheel just like we do so it's been tested. I have the blessing of being about a 20 min drive from there office so I've had time to chit chat both in person and over the phone and all of there products how that its backed by their knowledge. Very awesome guys to work with.

I’d run the D60 for the beef, plus Nick Barna makes ball joint eliminators for that year 60 as well.
I've seen those ball joint eliminators they are on my list for sure.
At 5 minutes when you roll under the jeep to start breaking the crossmember loose - I can relate. Right down to the pile of grinding dust swept up beside the jack stand.
For that undercoating - a rag and some paint thinner/mineral spirits takes the thick stuff off. Less to grind and smear around that way.

Build the 44 and truss it. Should be good for 37’s
im gonna eventually go with a Core4x4 4 link long arm. thiers also has a removable crossmember while retaining the control arms in place. it can also be run as a 3 link, with a spare upper link, youre also able run thier kit as low as a 3" lift for a LCG. build quality looks awesome
I am running the core4x4 front 4link long arm. Great kit. But not a direct bolt on and go. Be prepared for modifications. I love their products, as this is the fourth set of arms, short or long, that I have purchased for one of my vehicles. But the install was painful, and they don’t send instructions. Also, make sure all your hardware is figured out before you start. Again, no instructions, so you’ll have to figure out what bolts go where. But in the end, the kit is straight beef!!!!!! And I bought the tier4 long arm.

If you weld then you probably have a torch and after welding you should really relieve the tension by heating it up with a rosebud torch tip and spread the heat down the frame an inch or two to relieve the stresses from hardened steel to soft steel to prevent future cracks.
Yea that undercoating dust is horrible indeed! Previous owner put rubberized undercoating all over the XJ roof, I had quite the job getting it off and getting it ready for Raptor Liner lol

I want to see a dana 44 built for 37s I have 35s on mine but i would love to see what you think is needed to run one with 37s since I know a completely stock one wont last very well with 37s and a locker.

I wanted to get a Iron Rock 7in Long Arm Lift Kit for my Grand Cherokee ZJ 4x4.
Hey so if I wanted to 3 link my 1995 yj who would you consider getting a kit from .thankyou.for all you do for us out in UA-cam land.
You have a couple options, if you're using a TJ/XJ axle then you could modify a TJ longarm lift kit. If you're going totally custom then I'd consider Barnes for the links and axle truss kit.

A question,where do you get those calibrated wood blocks? It looks like there pro type.
On the Cherokee leafs on a YJ to stretch the the back out some, will it lift it any also? My 94 YJ still has the stock springs using lift shackles, but the rear seems to be sagging some.
Stock cherokee springs are fairly flat. If using it as a spring over I think you just gain the springover height mostly.

Heat and scrape the undercoating off. Just make sure you have a respirator or do it with plenty of ventilation.
I’m so glad I have the 8.25 on my XJ, I don’t do any “hardcore” off roading, I only have a 3.5 inch lift and running 31s for now, and it seems to be holding up pretty well. I’m hoping in the next few years to be able to afford a 6 inch lift and 37s, but there’s soooo many other things involved, not sure I’ll ever be able to do it.
You’d have to be doing something reeaal dumb to break that axle with 31s

@@tylernutter7738 from what I’ve read and heard the 8.25 can handle up to 35s with no problem. Do you have cut fenders on your XJ?
@@DustySteel yeah, but there’s no way they’ll clear in the back. I rolled the wheel wells but clearance would still be pretty tight. I need to cut more out of my front fenders, but I’m waiting until I can get some metal flares.

If I wanted to build my 1997 c1500 suburban what axles do you suggest if I chose to run 38s or if I wanted to build my 1998 f150 2wd single cab short wheel base what should I use

A dana 44 is a dana 30 with a slightly larger ring and pinion, build the 60, always. Same weak shafts same weak joints. Cost almost the same to really "build" either one, and you don't need to do anything but put brackets on that 60 and thrash it with 37's.

Uni-Frame. It has frame rails that go bumper to bumper. Uni-Body don't have frame rails going bumper to bumper.

Build the dana 60 it is much more relatable to the diy guy since it's about the best axle we can afford to build without going down in size to a 44 plus the 44 is hard to find compared to the 99 d60

I don' think saying removing rear sway bar because "mall crawler" isn't a good explanation. I always tell people that the real reason is because they arent effective above stock. It's very thin design doesnt do much for the anti sway, and ends up snapping and going through the floor

Dana 60 only , you need the to be on the strong side .. build it right the first time .. like building a rig one year 33'' tires and next year 36'' and next year 40'' build strong the first time with no head aches ..

I would not waste time on that frame. Unibody . It is rusted dude. I wouldn't even buy it. My 1991xj has less rust. My 1998 really has less.
