I faced a list with new rat ogors last week with a bad gsg list (UW squigs, squigboss, mollog, amd prog). I think the rat ogors are absolutely nuts. Their alpha strike is absolutely crazy. Move, Move, Rogor bonus attack, then move move double with packmaster
okay so question about the clawlord's ability: it states "bonus attack action and bonus move action". the way i interpreted this is you first do the attack action and only after you move. are those interchangeble? so i can do a move and then an attack? the first list i plan to do is indeed stormfiend clawlord and chaff! had the exact same thought. warlock engineer looks real fun and i plan to include him quite often as well. now to hope they add the new stormvermin and weapon teams asap!
As written you get to do them in any order you like, otherwise the wording would be do x. Then do y. The reference to this is rampage; [Quad] Rampage: This fighter can make a bonus move action up to a number of inches equal to the value of this ability. Then, they can make a bonus attack action. And it kind of makes sense in that the clawlord is commanding their fighters to move and attack things.
@@OffMetaMusings makes sense, thank you for the clarification. i'm looking foreward to playing with the clawlord, he's exactly how i immagined him. kinda tough for skaven standard, kinda expensive, has a decent melee profile and a crappy ranged one and plays a commanding role unlike most of our other heroes. they definately hit the nail on the head with this one.
Hello. Got a Question about the Skaven Battle Trait because i am still wondering/confused: Are the Models that are set up by this Battle Trait counting as "Raised Fighters" as in the FAQ stated? If this would be the case, i don`t see the big usage of it, cause just the Model that would be taken down in round 2 and been set up at the beginning of round 3 could activate again in round 4 (raised Models arent able to perform any actions at the turn they are set up again). Especially a Model taken down in round 3 is useless (except for holding battlefield quarters if your playing that mission) when it comes back in round ??!!
So there is currently no consensus on it due to Raised fighters referring to abilities, and the Skaven Battle trait isn't an ability. It's worth noting that thanks to massive lead times, these rules would have probably been written before the raised fighters FAQ went in (as evidenced by the lack of blacktalons, OoA, and cities of sigmar runemarks, etc) so imo would have been written with the intention of the fighter being allowed to activate. Personally, I'd allow them to activate given that RAW, the battle trait isn't an ability so the FAQ shouldn't apply.
@@OffMetaMusings Much thanks for your answer and time, appreciate it. Didnt think about it that Battle Traits are not actual abilities. I believe its a valid point that its not an actuall ability that set them back up so they are possible to activate, personally now i would play it like that. But in the End, as long as it is not clarified officially, its a matter of agreement with you opponent/tournament host.....
Whats the double combo with the clawlord thats allowing the ogor to move and shoot a 4th time? It's the double from the ogor then the triple from the clawlord right?
Yes, its the triple Forward Minions from the Clawlord and Double Unleashed Warp-Fury from the Rat Ogor; Rat Ogor (shoot, shoot, Fury, shoot) Clawlord (Forward Minions on the Ogor) Rat Ogor (move+shoot, takes D6 Damage)
@@OffMetaMusingsoh okay okay. I saw in the video (2 doubles) for the combo so I thought it literally was 2 double cost abilities to be used lol thanks for the clarification!
Question for y’all here - can musk of fear be used to avoid combat? It’s unclear to me whether the additional move or disengage occurs immediately or on that fighter’s next activation.
Musk of fear happens after the enemy fighter makes their move action but before they declare their attack action; this means that a fighter can move within 3" of your skaven fighter, and it can react to make another skaven within 3" move out of combat range. All reactions happen immediately when their triggering conditions are met (so after an enemy fighter finishes their move in this case)
@@OffMetaMusings So the situation was that I was playing stormcast, and I flew one of my prosecutors right next to a clan rat with the intent to sigmarite shield bash him. There was a rat ogor also < 3 inches from the clan rat and my prosecutor. So it sounds like he could have used the rat ogre to react, allowing the can rat to disengage and run away before I could get the shield bash off. Am I reading you right? Or would that only apply were it a normal combat action? The shield bash is interesting because it itself is triggered by the move action, rather than being declared. Thanks for the response and the terrific content!
Skaven are out this weekend so fingers very much crossed! Worth noting that the ROgres have gotten a massive boost with this update so I'd expect Stormfiends to go up to something like 300 points with the corresponding stat buffs so the giant Moulder thing would definitely be monster sized.
Since we're talking Skaven, what's your opinion on using a Master Moulder instead of a Packmaster ? Since Heroes are kind of a tax for Skaven, a pretty cheap one who can double up as a tankier Packmaster seems pretty good.
I'd probably still run the packmaster because if you are running pure skaven, the 70 points allows you to bring them back with the battle trait which you cant do with the MM
I like having some new things to try out but overall I'm a little disappointed with the changes to Skaven. Rat ogors were already really good - what needed improvement were the non-brute fighters to make builds other than the rat ogor-packmaster combo more viable. For example, maybe make some of the chaff 5 points cheaper, make things you never see (like Doom Flayers, which just got a new model) cheaper, or reduce the cost for some of our heroes which are still over-costed from before the Lead from the Back nerf.
The new skaven aren't out yet I don't think? Besides, after this and the last release, I'm totally expecting a FEC style update to skaven with all the new stuff (and Bracken said as much in April). I can wait :)
because it's worded bonus attack action AND A bonus move instead of bonus attack action AND THEN A bonus move (see rampage for reference), you get to do them in any order you want :)
I just wish GW would annouce or preview these kind of thing. They could have said Ruination and Skaven should be expected this fall in the last announcement instead of going "Warcry got a box recently, I guess"
@@RawilowI am entirely on your side. What my issue is this doom hopping from first Underworld and then with the Warhammer Day preview it is Warcry that is dying instead. It is either stuck in the past (it was better then) or a horrible future (where no game exists anymore).
Their problem was the warcry dump/overload (all the big boxes) into a shallow drip of warbands. Im new so maybe for you guys its a good thing but being an aos gamer sometimes less is more. Anyways that's how i feel about gw stuff in general but warcry still looks great atm. Tons of terrain, units and scenarios. I doubt its going anywhere and hope you guys get more content soon!

Move, Move, Rogor bonus attack, then move move double with packmaster
yeah you kind of need something to deal damage to the Rogre early so that its double starts killing it quick

Are any of the new models that just came out in the FAQ for Warcry…meaning did they get rules. Like the Skaven Acolyte Globadiers for example??
Not yet. It's all skaventide minis so far. Though considering what happened to FEC, I'm totally expecting a Skaven rework at some point
