Would you say this could be completed in a day? Most people that the south east ridge is quicker, but we aren't at the fitness level for that one, so would peasants be too long for a day hike?

Can be done in a day, I’ve done it a couple of times - but you do want an early start at least 6am at the trail head 👍🏼😊

@@joe_outdoors_australia yea I did it on Saturday, and unfortunately my dad couldn't get up. I think we started at 7 and got to the staircase rocks at about 10. So I would assume that there is a fair way to go after that? Also, who did you go with on your first trip, as im having trouble looking for a capable climbing partner

@@CelloMasterNE 10am at the stair case, that’s pretty good considering left at 7am - next time you’ll hit the summit for sure 😊
first time I went up was with a couple of mates. If you don’t have anyone keen for the hike there’s always hiking groups on the meetups app; fast and furious and happy hikers - good bunch of people, I’ve done some hikes with them in past. They hike Mt Barney a few times a year, may be worth checking out and see what you think. Cheers Joe

This video was from a few years back so I can’t exactly remember what the weather was like.
However, it does get cold there in winter and even Autumn and early Spring, the mornings and nights can be cold

G'day Gizmo, sorry about audio quality; it took 4 hours to get to Rum Jungle from Yellow Pinch Car Park at a steady pace carrying approx 17kg in rucksack, great hike.

Hey mate very informative video. I've done Mt Maroon and was looking at tackling Barney next. Have you done both and can you compare them? Only bit that has me worried was the steep section where you said your backpack was sliding.

Hi Milan, yes I’ve done both, Barney is a little Harder - the slanting rock isn’t too bad, watch your footing and take your time - if you’ve done Maroon, Barney will be familiar territory, similar terrain 👍🏼
