Beautiful, well done both. May I suggest you look at the much loved and sadly missed Steve Goodman’s beautiful love songs, such as Would You like to Learn to Dance. If you can’t find it alone, it may be in a black and white recording of a concert opening he did for Janis Ian. He also has some fun songs too, plus he wrote train they call city of New Orleans, a bunch of stuff with John prine and truth be told polished up a lot of rough drafts for a bunch a people forever in his debt, such as teaching Willie Nelsen how to tell a story song.
Why didn't I know about this band, one of the best of its time, until September 26, 2020? It is a real American treasure and a great example of what music is all about.
What can be said that you two haven’t already heard over a million times? Another exceptionally beautiful song. Beautiful lyrics, beautiful tune and harmony, beautiful arrangement. Individually each of you are extraordinary talents. Together you’re a musical phenomenon. Toni. Stop it! Guitar, banjo, double bass - and now mandolin!! Really?? Are you practicing fiddle too? Great job ladies👍👍
Thank you for doing this version. YT brought me here as I was on a Magnetic Fields kick, so I heard this right after hearing the original, and the difference in vocal/instrument balance takes some getting used to. However, happy to hear all your little words!
First time hearing this... This is the first post of yours I've had trouble hearing the voice. The guitar and mandolin overpower your sweet words. Having said that, your interpretation is still beautiful. There are not many recording artists whose phrasing is on par with yours and Toni's "less is more" approach to lead (anything) is the perfect partner for this duo. These times of isolation have forced me to listen more carefully as I search for peace amongst the rubble. Once again, the two of you bring it with such grace, I'm glad I get to be alive, regardless of the storms raging all around. With love and such, I remain a loyal fan...
It is now 0629 pm here in RSA. Good music to take my mind of the operation tomorrow after having spent 11 days in hospital this month. Please keep up with your Sunday morning music.
