You have an impressive ear when it comes to EQ! 👏So you've basically done what an IR would do for most people, but by using extra EQ's to essentially do what the post-processing section of the CFH plugin is doing to replicate the album tone! I've thought about doing something similar with delving into looking at spectrum analysers and trying to tweak things myself in my DAW, but just don't have the time anymore. I love this! The amount of adjustments made in post for each album was insane, and one of the many reasons why people have such a hard time replicating "THE" tone.. basically because there never was just 1 tone! This is possibly the best I've heard without getting any of the actual gear. I'd love to hear what it sounds like with a Bill Lawrence in that thing instead of the Dimebucker, as the only thing I'm hearing that's ever so SLIGHTLY off is probably the shrillness of that Dimebucker(very scooped sounding). I think a BL would smooth it out and tame those low-highs even more, making it sound even more "girthy" whilst still keeping it saturated and "scooped"-sounding. Awesome stuff either way!🤘
dude! Thanks! I’ve seen all your dime vids and they’ve always awesome. You have what i’d call the holy grail rig with that slime and actual dime gear. This sounds great! I used it as a starting point for a White Zombie tone, since J copied a lot of Dime's gear after they toured together. Interestingly, J would boost 8kHz and cut higher frequencies. Also less gain overall, and I have lower output pickups on my guitar so that probably keeps that beehive sound under control a bit.

Hey, man! Great job! Best Dime sound on Katana I've ever heared. Im trying to get like Dime Damageplan kinda sound, any advises? Maybe you plan to recreate that on kat? Cheers!
the damage plan tone is a lot more round sounding. it has quite a bit of 300hz-500hz. i think you could start with my CFH tone and tweak the EQs i have in there to get a close sound.
Dude your patches are great, do you think you could maybe do one on the clean tone for Metallica’s One? It’s got a weird almost frosty or crunchy quality to it that most other clean tones don’t have.
Man it sounds perfect, you have a excellent ear for tone. I need help with my katana, i can’t download the patch because my computer is junk , i can access tone studio so I was going to do it manually from your video, my question is I own the mk1 katana and I don’t have the centa od booster, will these settings still work with another booster type. Like one that might be on the mk1. Thanks for any help and keep up the awesome videos.
the most similar booster is the T-Screamer, but as for making this mk2 tone sound the same on a mk1 im not too sure how that will go. I did actually make a MK1 Dimebag patch, if you sort my videos by popular its "how to get dimebag tone" That patch should work and sound a lot better than trying to convert this to mk1.
yes it’ll work on a MK2 50w. The amp is a bit smaller so it will sound a bit different. you can try adding some bass and fiddling with the treble and mids knobs till you’re happy with it 👍🤘
Sounds great, especially as I have been struggling with a vulgar tone for a while now, but I was wondering, do you assign the solo to a pedal or play with it permanently on?
the solo is permanently on. i kinda view that spot on the katana as an extra EQ. If youd need more boost you can always make 2 separate patches and a/b back and forth.
the download should just pop right up after you click the link. if you download it to desktop. you’ll have to extract the tsl from the folder and then load it using the tone studio. i also have instructions in the folder from the download too
unfortunately i only have the katana. it’s my only amp. i’ve never really used amp sims, or amps on the pc. i could never get them to work right. you could theoretically take the settings from the katana patch and translate them to a similar amp in positive grid.
@@moreteaplease4952 you should still be able to copy from the video. i mention everything that’s in it. EVERYTHING including the sneaky amp and my mic placement so. the download is just the quick and ez patch copy

Hello sir! First of all what a great video but I have a small problem... Whenever I copy your settings into my boss katana 100 MKII I can't seem to get the amazing sound that you have. It gets all muddy and kind of scooped in a way. I have to tweek it myself which is a little annoying when you'd hit the tone almost 100% - Do you know why that may be? I have a Dean razorback btw
Love the video brother, but I can’t download anything. When I click the link it acts like it’s going somewhere but it freezes. I’d love to download these link’s you’ve made. I guess I’ll just do screenshots on all your settings and put them in manually. Keep rocking!!
the download doesn’t go to ant other site. for me when i click it. it stays on the same tab but opens up where i want to save the file. maybe you could have something blocking google drive downloads on your browser.
Hi Mason, quick question. When I use this tone on my katana and when I palm mute strings the speaker makes a buzzing noise. What settings do you recommend to change? Messing with tone is something new for me so I have a hard time to figure it out by myself.
you could try; lowering the bass knob, tweak the booster effect level, turn down the low gain on EQ2. those are just some suggestions. i’m not sure why it would be buzzing.
only BANK 1 is clean tones. BANK 2 is the dirty tones. you have to import both. AND yes they all have no fx and all the eqs are at 50. thats just how they come no matter where you download them from.
Before I buy a new guitar for metal, what could be the issue if I don’t get the proper tone despite doing what the video said. Could it be the guitar and its pickups or is there something else that could be the issue? I bought the Boss Katana MkII 50 less than a week ago. It’s some cheap strat my dad bought from Amazon years before I started actually playing.
it’s mainly the pickups. but also the 50w will sound slightly different than the 100w (in video) I made this patch with a dimebucker. so it’s a rather hot pickup. you could increase the level on the GE10 in the mod spot to get closer gain.
Does anybody have a katana artist I feel like I have tried everything after reading some of the comments it sounds super bassy and muddy and when I mess with the eq and booster it sounds cluttered and ear-piercing
how do your pickups compare to a Bill Lawrence or Dimebucker? I find that removing some bottom on the OD. and reducing low freq on the post eqs can help with the bass. also the bass knob itself slightly without losing too much body.
Bro, correct me if I'm wrong, but with all the features and eqs...IF PROPERLY SETUP, playing through a good 4x12...this thing could hang with any tube amp. I've owned several tubes. I'm not seeing this give up anything. Low end, clarity, cutting through in a mix....it seems all there. To the point if it ain't working out, its down to user failure.
i also think it would be better if i had a katana head going into a marshall or Randall cab. with all the eqs it might have to be set up a little differently. this is shaped more for the combo amp version. the trick for clarity and good low end is not to have too much gain. only dimebag himself could pull off 1000 gain and still sound good lol
@@Synthedelic i actually wasn't personally a big fan of his tone. But it is distinctive and iconic. Why DO you think he was able to not sound like absolute shit and get buried in the mix?
@riokinsey2134 i think his hand technique, and specifically his rig sounded good with a crap load of gain. only that rig. the furman parametric EQs can select ANY frequency. not just some preset ones like the katana. he also had a specific noise gate the vintage rocktron hush. i think that randall amps don’t get too muddy with lots of gain. all things i think make it so his rig sounds better with more gain.
Turn the mids knob up A LOT. Take away some bass and make sure it doesn’t have too much sizzle for it to actually shine into the mix ! MIDS MAKE SOLOS!
@@Synthedelic yeah, it's a yellow system, I don't know why it doesn't sound so heavy, I tried with other patches but it still doesn't sound heavy, is it from the amplifier or boss studios?do i have to ajust yhe master from amplifier?
@@NATALIAPETRUT where is your amp positioned? also this tone in particular the bass knob works a bit dif than my other tones. it should add some chunk to it.
@@Synthedelic it is positioned on the wall with the speaker towards the middle of the room, I know I also added bass so it doesn't sound sharp somehow, that is, it sounds like a crunch tone with bass but without great distortion, idk why
@@Dead_333 i mainly learned to play by watching and listening to recordings of dime. i would definitely recommend the “dimebag guitar clinic” video. just try and apply the techniques he talks about there, and just play stuff (over and over) till it sounds just like how he was doing it 👍👍
The boss katana is a piece of crap...i bought it and literally after 8 hours of trying several guitars and several overdrive pedals i took it back to the store because it sounded like an empty tin can with no gain at all .....i traded it for a peavy vipyr and a line 6 catalyst and they sound waaaaaay way better for less money
it took me about a year to like the katana as much as i do now. i really like the interface for the tone studio. if you look at my first video on my channel. that tone is the shitty tin can tone i had when i first got the katana. if you already own a katana and agree with this comment. before you sell your katana. maybe a speaker swap is an option.
line 6 catalyst - ua-cam.com/video/9-mvTMHtuOE/v-deo.htmlsi=HSyD8GXEbk7QXb76 The Peavy is a bit better than the line 6 from what i see in some youtube reviews. I trust this man 👹

I plan on getting to get to both, and trendkill. maybe probably RTS. i think RTS is the most HIGH PRODUCTION sounding dimebag tone.
@@danielstenner7686 make sure the chain is correct, if it’s still muddy you need to take away some low end in the first geq
@@Synthedelic I’ll check on that, thanks for the timely response.
Think you just made me buy an katana bud 🤟
i hope you like it 🤘
Hi Mason, quick question.
@@Synthedelic thank you, I'm going to test it as soon as I can
i tried installing your sneaky amps pack and when i installed them they all had a clean sound and the same settings. did i install them wrong?
only BANK 1 is clean tones.
It’s some cheap strat my dad bought from Amazon years before I started actually playing.
it’s mainly the pickups. but also the 50w will sound slightly different than the 100w (in video)
I made this patch with a dimebucker. so it’s a rather hot pickup. you could increase the level on the GE10 in the mod spot to get closer gain.
@@Synthedelic Probably is the pickups then, since even with a basic brown tone (no modifications just panel), it sounds more of a crunch.
Hey dude how well would you say this tone would work in a live gigging mix?
genuinely not sure about that. someone would have to try it and tell me lol
Are you planning to do the death magnetic or hardwired tones?
yes eventually 👍 probably will get to hardwired before death mag. as i like that tone a bit more.
@Synthedelic Awesome, can't wait!
Can anyone help me I have all settings exact but it sound weak
boost, and remove some bass 👍👍👍
@@Synthedelic thanks man
How do you get a good lead tone with this with some delay in it?
Turn the mids knob up A LOT. Take away some bass and make sure it doesn’t have too much sizzle for it to actually shine into the mix !
MIDS MAKE SOLOS!
if I have a vox pedal and I put it on the fx pedal, does the pedal bend effect work?
i don’t think so?
@@Synthedelic but when you connected dime's "cry baby from hell" pedal, didn't you connect it to the fx pedal?
@Dead_333 i’m using the wah before the amp. signal path guitar -wah -Amp in
@@Synthedelichave you tried that fx pedal thing on it yet?
or you need a special pedal for the boss?
how do i import the zip it dont come up lol
from the file you downloaded. double click it. you’ll see a “read me” file. i have instructions in there on how to import.
@@Synthedelic your a legend bro thanks so much tone rips already
dude does this patch work on the katana artist?
@@Giorgio-mq7en as long as it’s the mk2 version
@@Synthedelic thanks, and fantastic tone!
what version do you have, I think I have the wrong version and it sounds like it sounded to you at the beginnin
make sure you’re using my yellow system eq
@@Synthedelic yeah, it's a yellow system, I don't know why it doesn't sound so heavy, I tried with other patches but it still doesn't sound heavy, is it from the amplifier or boss studios?do i have to ajust yhe master from amplifier?
don t sound chunky
@@NATALIAPETRUT where is your amp positioned?
also this tone in particular the bass knob works a bit dif than my other tones. it should add some chunk to it.
@@Synthedelic it is positioned on the wall with the speaker towards the middle of the room, I know I also added bass so it doesn't sound sharp somehow, that is, it sounds like a crunch tone with bass but without great distortion, idk why
AAAAHHHHH FUCKING HOSTILEEEEE
how do you make it sound so scratchy
how do you mean? do you mean my technique?
@@Synthedelic yeah
@@Dead_333 i mainly learned to play by watching and listening to recordings of dime.
i would definitely recommend the “dimebag guitar clinic” video. just try and apply the techniques he talks about there, and just play stuff (over and over) till it sounds just like how he was doing it 👍👍
@@Synthedelic thxx
I trust this man 👹
@@Synthedelic yea maybe a speaker swap would be the answer on that katana....a v77 or a hesu demon or a warehouse reaper might give it more bottom end🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
IT'S MV AGAIN WITH ANOTHER BIG W!!!!!!!
