I had a Backflip G2 for 10 years on my old truck zero problems. Just picked up a new truck so I'll have to buy another one.

Ran the same cover on my old Ram 1500. I was very happy with it, even though i was only able to run it for a few months. Would definitely buy another if i get another truck in the future.

I had the mx4 on my 15 f150 for about 6 years, never leaked into the bed at all. Eventually the panel seals failed so water would fill each panel and water log the foam. Made it near impossible to open without climbing in the bed due to the weight. Just got a new truck and have to figure out what I am going to do.

I got one for my 2023 F150 Tremor, been rock solid during the winter months, kept it all dry.

I've had the backflip on my 23 Tundra for one year, I also had the ARE flip up cover on my Silverado, I love the BackFlip, BUT, I've noticed you sometimes have to push down the strike buckles on each section when closed, after WD40 spray, it got better, but not solved, it's a design flaw

I’ve had mine for 2 1/2 years and I have no dents on it, nothing broken and I’m inside of it folding it up and down every single day because I also have that deck system with the bigger drawers and it’s unbelievable. It’s better than a topper in my opinion. I guess people are just rough and act like Cowboys around their stuff and they like to put it to the test, anyways you should treat your truck, your tools, your backflip like you treat your wife treat her gentle and love her. Listen to her. Oh I forgot it’s the 20th century there’s a lot of wife beaters out there OK Cowboys I guess go on about your rant about that old topper and that backflip falling apart because you’re a cowboy. Hahahaha, oh and thank you for the person who made this video. You’re not the cowboy. I’m talking about you gave a good positive truthful review you obviously take care of your things and your wife.

Have had mine 3 years and it has been a trying experience especially the seals and had it in a light hail during thunderstorms and it left tons of dents but yet none in my GMC pickup. If I had to so again I wouldn't buy it especially at the current prices.

Hey great review! I’m just curious what persuaded you more to go with the hard folding bakflip cover as opposed to something like the bak revolver x4s? They both seem to be very sleek and add some protection, and with hard roll up cover it doesn’t block the back window. They both seem to have good reviews and are the same price point. Anyway thanks for your time!

Both great options, but I wasn’t a fan of the roll up method. Just prefer the complete trifold cover overall.

Totally understandable! Was just curious since I’m kinda between those 2 also for my raptor haha. It currently has a soft cover that it came with but I’m not a fan.

@@michaelschuerman2847 I'm not sure where you live but the roll up covers can be an issue in the cold weather and can effect the rolling function. I also think the MX4 and the F1 covers look better and higher end than the roll up simply based on the material. Many new trucks have bed cameras now including the one I own so I can look at any cargo in the bed if needed when hauling. I've had the MX4 cover since 2018 and have enjoyed it. I do have a few dents here and there many from other people putting stuff on my bed....this is really annoying btw! My next cover will most likely be the F1 version as it's a composite material and doesn't dent like the aluminum on the MX4.

I almost pulled the trigger on a x4s cover, but there are TONS of videos on it delaminating, and I even saw one in person in a parking lot that was delaminating.
I’ve seen one or two videos with this cover doing the same, except only in the middle of each section, so that seems fixable with the right screw/rivet and touch up paint if it ever happens. With the x4s the sections are too small to fix like that.
      Just my two cents.

The only thing I don't like about these is they sit on your back window when they are up, but I can't see me driving down the interstate with it up. I would take it off before I did that. Mine will be installed next week.

When people say it dents easily I have to ask why are people throwing things on top of it. None of these are completely water tight, but the installation and type of truck/bed has something to do with it. Bak has the best customer service I have seen, everyone raves about them. Made in the USA.

Mine let's so much water in. I recommend a soft folding cover that sits more on top and let's the water run down the side of the truck and not into the bed

Been torn between this and the Gator FX, the wear and tear on the seals do worry me. Would you say you frequently are folding the cover, or does it mostly sit closed? In my use case scenario I wouldn't be folding the cover that often if at all, but still worried if those seals would start to wear after only a couple times folding. I'd say I would only need to fold the cover 4-5 times a year.

    • @Autofreakgarage
      @Autofreakgarage  6 місяців тому +1

I don’t unfold it much so mostly just sits in that spot. But 14 months of use and it still doesn’t leak. I wouldn’t worry about it as the main rubber seal is still there.

Texas folks... has anyone had th MX4 long-term..say.. 2-3 years or more? I've had two Bakflip Revolvers, my neighbor has had two, and my brother in law has had one. On every single one, after 2-3 years in the Texas sun, the vinyl starts shrinking and failing around the edges. I'm thinking going with an MX4 if they don't have that problem in Texas.

My MX4 is about six years old. The first panel hinge has now completely separated from the next one with no repair available. It has a lot of corrosion of the hardware and the gaskets are warped - leaks like a sieve - not impressed for the money invested.

I'm on my third MX4 cover since 2018 on my Ram 1500 Sport. After 2 years, deals are warped and it let's in an i sane amount of water. Only thing they are good for is dry weather and standing on. Should cost less given how short their lifespan is. Hope BAKFlip will make better ones for the price. It's really ashame they are stealing everyone's money.

@@Autofreakgarage that’s what I thought. Have you thought about adding WeatherTech side window deflectors? I think you’ll really like how they look on your truck! They are “in channel” not stick ons. I have them on all of my vehicles.
